    Congratulations on a rewarding career. You are the only individual other than myself that recognized how good it feels to not be second guessed by higher ranking members of your organization despite your actual rank. That feeling is priceless and one of the things I respect about the U.S. military. Several civilian jobs do it as well, you just have to land the right one.
    Great video, thanks for the info.👍

    Good job describing the job. I was with the 3/327th Infantry, 101st Airborne. Worked in 4 - 6 man teams. Nobody wanted to tryout. I was a Scout, 11B, my roommate was one of the snipers. I had been on a rifle team but I did not get a chance to go to sniper school, no money back in 90-94. Then I was with the Florida National Gaurd Infantry and got detached to a CAV-Scout unit (19D). It was fun and good experience but I liked 11B better, quieter. I was blessed to guard a 4 Star General and work as an 11H (TOW-II) before the scouts. I miss it all.

    I was a E-6 in a infantry scout platoon. My unit was 1-69th Infantry. Task Force Wolfhoundin in Taji and Baghdad 2004-2005. I love being in a infantry scout platoon. Our platoon was very close. We had 3 KIA 5 wounded. I enjoyed your video. It was a lot of good info.

    I just came across your video and I am so glad I found it! I’m awaiting orders at the moment. I didn’t get selected at SFAS. I really want to try out for a scout platoon wherever I go. I’ve heard they operate more independently and I want to get some good experience before I go back to SFAS

      I’ve never been in one, but I have friends who are. To my understanding, the structure is basically identical to a Scout Platoon. If you even know the existence of a Cav unit’s C Troop, you probably know more about them than I do, so you can probably correct me if I’m wrong.lol

    Good video! Is your unit still retaining its airborne status, and how has the transition been now that it's no longer LRS? getting back into service with the guard either with you guys, or as an SF support dude.

    • @NemeanIndustries
      @NemeanIndustries  5 лет назад +2

      m sebas we are retaining our airborne status and the last info I received is that we are gaining 2 line airborne companies and an airborne HHC for a new national guard battalion being formed, all of those companies being in Indiana. The transition has been slow but we have the best group of guys I’ve ever served with hands down. If you still enjoy infantry stuff while being with the least toxic leadership (they are very relaxed when they can be, and they look for every opportunity to be that way) I can’t recommend my unit enough for you. Great great place to be, and a ton of school opportunities as well.

    For someone that wants to be a sniper would be better to join Marines or army?

    • @NemeanIndustries
      @NemeanIndustries  4 года назад +2

      Anthony that’s an interesting question. Both branches you’re going to have to earn your way into the spot. Both branches produce great quality snipers. I would say that the Marines have the best base-level snipers in the military, but I believe the selection to get that spot is much harder to pass. Also, I know the Army you can sign up for infantry and know exactly what your MOS is when you sign up. I’m not sure that the Marines have quite as solid of a guarantee. So it’s a toss up, really. But I don’t think you can go wrong either way.

    Do sniper sections have an organic JFO position? If so what MOS fils it?

    • @NemeanIndustries
      @NemeanIndustries  4 года назад +1

      Having the ability to call for fire is something that every RTO can do inside the Scout Platoon. But they’re all just Infantry guys. And again, that’s the Scout RTO. No one on the Sniper section ever called for fire when I was in the scouts. They would send us a report with the pertinent information and the RTO would do it for them.

    • @DeFiPonzi
      @DeFiPonzi 3 года назад

      My ARTO (infantry) was sent to the 2 week JFO course to get the L7 ASI.
      We would now and then have a JTAC attached to our platoon for joint training missions (when they weren’t attached the L7 would come in handy but it didn’t really matter because we crossed trained with the fisters yearly). Everyone needed to know everyone’s job so the L7 qualification really just served as a POC for teaching our new cherries and establishing a defined role/responsibility.

    • @madkabal

      @MoronicAcid1 yes, just needs the proper paperwork done stating why his unit needs him to go to the course. When I was in i was a 19k a tanker, I had a tank commander who knew a lot of knowledge about ballistics and all that buy he never went to Master Gunner School. I finally asked how he knows all this shit and sure as shit he was a Qualified Sniper in his last unit.

    • @southernSCkid
      @southernSCkid Месяц назад

      No they cannot he is incorrect , the only MOS that can attend sniper school is 11B , 19D (which is no longer a thing) , and 18series ( Special Forces) . They absolutely are not sending Fisters nor tankers to sniper school

    • @madkabal

      @southernSCkid I'm not sure where you are getting your information from but per the US Army Sniper Course own web page, the current course accepts 11B 19D and 18 series. 19D is "still a thing" as far as me, I'm only letting you how it used to be, that's all.

    Difference between scout and Cav Scout?

    • @NemeanIndustries
      @NemeanIndustries  4 года назад +8

      Cav guys continue on with their heritage of being mounted (on horseback in history) and now, as far as I’ve seen, they conduct mounted recon. Meaning in vehicles. Also, I’ve only ever seen them as Brigade level recon assets. Infantry Scouts are more Battalion level assets, and then Infantry LRS units can be all the way up to Corps assets. Different recon assets depending on what you need done. Go infantry, don’t go Cav Scout.lol.
