    As a marine I had some times with some scouts in country and they seemed pretty put together.

      @comeseetheviolenceinherent579 4 года назад +1

      Your scouts are snipers so yes they are put together. Army scouts are just dudes that were afraid to join infantry. It is the worst MOS in the army.

    • @comeseetheviolenceinherent579
      @comeseetheviolenceinherent579 4 года назад +2

      Daniel Meng you’re too much... literally too much. I had the unfortunate pleasure to serve with scouts in Iraq. Just be a man and join the infantry. I wasn’t even an infantryman. I was an FO.

    • @Dogmeat1950
      @Dogmeat1950 3 года назад +13

      @@comeseetheviolenceinherent579 funny cause I'm an FO and see the Scouts as way better In terms of things you can do over the Infantry. Infantry are fine don't get me wrong but as an FO and seeing both sides ill go scout before Infantry.
      Play with more weapons,armor,vehicles
      Final point, look at the Scout FMs way bigger knowledge base going in the Scout world than the Infantry world. And if the only really wanted to and cared they could phase out Fisters and instead put more CFF training inside Scouts and Infantry. And idk but have an incentive to be JFO qualified if need be cause well you don't have to be an FO to be a JFO qualified. I've met 2 Infantry guys here in the 82nd that actually have it lol

    • @comeseetheviolenceinherent579
      @comeseetheviolenceinherent579 3 года назад +1

      @@Dogmeat1950 I think the scout role is important but they should recruit people from the infantry to perform the job. All the Scouts were bitches. I think the infantry attracts a better quality person. They know infantry is dangerous and they do it anyway. I wish I wouldn’t have believed the bullshit that “FO is just an intelligent infantryman” that my recruiter fed me. If I could do it all over again I would have insisted on infantry. But coulda shoulda woulda right?

    • @Dogmeat1950

      @@comeseetheviolenceinherent579 funny that you say that cause alot of Scout instructors were Infantry before switching.

    I’ll be going to basic November for Cav scout. I figure that the skills I will learn from this MOS will help me with the job I was doing before I swore in.
    Being an Outfitter, I was on a horse, riding deep in the mountains, through tough terrain, setting up hunting camp and shit. Knowing my way around the wilderness will make me more employable when I get out down the road. Or that’s how I see it

    Have the 19D reserved for my arrival at MEPS this Tuesday. I want to be 68W, however if it is not there at the time I will be choosing 19D. Parents both military and recommend it. Scored high on the ASVAB so I could get any job I want. I think this would be a great start to a military career. I don't know how well it transfers into the civilian world, however I believe this would be a great start. If I accept, I leave this month! Nervous, however that doesn't dissuade me in the slightest. As a scout you will have options to go to classes, such as ranger school, air assault, air borne, sniper and so on. Going to ranger school and getting your tab doesn't mean you a ranger. The 75th is it's own entity.

    Is 19D or 11B more likely to get to go for sniper school? Is 19D more vehicle based or ground unit based?

    • @tyw2675
      @tyw2675 Год назад

      11B is more likely to get more schools. It's sad but true that Scouts aren't really appreciated or given a fuck about by the big army. Scouts, in theory, should be able to get all or most of the same schools but they just don't. I was a scout, and had an infantry platoon sergeant who tried to get me the best training and schools sometimes, but higher ranking NCO's who were formerly tankers would often get in the way and say no based on my MOS. It was absolutely ridiculous.

Saturday-Sunday try your best not to marry a stripper and or get a DUI. Rinse and repeat on Monday until the deployment cycle starts, but you kids dont go to war anymore so start at step one.

    The definition of a Scout is correct... but we have not fought conventional warfare in quite some time. The "eyes and ears of the battlefield" simply does not happen when you're deployed. I am only making this comment for anyone that wants to join this MOS thinking that is what you will do. You may train recon in the field but Scouts never actually do their job. I was a Scout. Afghan deployments.
