I work in one OEM Bodyshop in South Africa, I can say don't drill the spot weld out, grind out the those parts out, smooth the panels and and CO2 weld the new ones. In most body shops at OEM, robots weld body panels so if one robot doesn't weld properly, what we do is CO2 weld the panels together. So i think that will work well. Ohhhh and repair body shops are the ones that use body filler, at OEM if its damaged beyond repair without a filler its a scrap. No body filler its used at all
You don’t need to keep saying ‘we’re not aiming for perfect’. It’s a very good job and if I was Joe, at some point during that day, I’d be telling you to do it yourself if you keep saying you want it ‘1000%’. RUclips comments will be good , bad and ugly no matter what. So just make peace with that and do your thing👍
I personally drill the spots out without damaging the panel behind, drill new holes in the new piece (but yours is re-used so will already have holes from removing), then weld on the new piece to the car.
Nothing wrong with filler. It has always been used. In the past, they used to use a lead type filler for repairs, literally heating a block of lead up and using that. Wait until people learn that cars were also traditionally soldered and brazed together...
Hello Chris ! I think that your videos are really really entertaining. I like the off comments and the way it is being filmed ! The Hyundai N is also a very good choice ! Keep it up !!
Keep it coming Chris. I really enjoy watching your videos which are given me more confidence to buy a car and try myself 🙈 looking forward to the front end next
Yes Chris my opinion is use ribbits drill the old ones out and put the new part in but before you put a new parts in use welding glue so you know for yourself it's solid it's straight forward no messing about with welding and of course it's easier to take out if you have a same problem in future
Great job done on the rear quarter panel.. Looking forward to hear what's your plans for the rear end in the future as it seems you've left us hanging.. Keep up the good footage
Chris, any reason why you etch primed it after you’d fitted the light? Would have been easier with the light out? Top video again. this one’s shaping up nicely 👍
Surely the rear bumper will have to be taken apart to paint it ? My guess is you are going to wrap the car either a Matt colour or bright orange. You are so lucky the car doesn't have more damage on the front.
The car will get wrapped? But still, I would really love if you would fix it 100% right so that any future buyer gets a nice car even after removing a wrap
@@Chris_Slix oh now you make me wonder, and thanks for your reply. I really appreciate and love your content. Would love to see you and Mat sometime in the future as I am also a petrol head. Best greetings from South Germany, Paddy
Thanks everyone for watching you are the best ❤ and also a special thanks to joe for all his help 😊

Nothing wrong with a little filler, its when people dont try anything before hand and just attack it with filler and its inches thick!
Great progress

It's such a pleasure to hear you talking, good job mate

Keep it coming Chris. I really enjoy watching your videos which are given me more confidence to buy a car and try myself 🙈 looking forward to the front end next
Nice meeting you at the weekend mate 👊
got recommended your channel a few days ago. subbed. keep up the great work mate! 🤙🏽
Awesome as always Chris 👌🏻 If Joe young wants to live past 30. He needs to get a mask on 😂 Filler dust is f**king horrific….
I will buy him one for xmas 😅
Brilliant as always Chris, we need more videos mate 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Doing as many as i can! 😅 if i can ever quit my job ill squeeze some more out
@@Chris_Slix after watching your content and M.A. I’ve just got myself a damaged project…👍🏻👍🏻

Love bodywork content! Not a lot of it is on youtube
Nearly at 40k subs boyo 🎉🎉
You can buy spot weld bits for your drill to just gouge the holes
My favorite car so far!
I've said before that this particular project is a winner Chris.... Content is slick... Roll on 40K subs, then on to 50K subs.
Starting to look good hats off
Looking forward to the next one, but starting to look good. 👍👍👍👍👍
Great vid, always good to learn new skills off of mates too.
Top work as ever Chris. The quarter repair looks good to me 👌🏻
yes mate!! been looking forward to this
Great vid and loved the tapping in time with the music edit - 4 hours well spent 😂
BOOM-PAG 😂😂😂😂
really enjoying your videos Chris. Keep up the good work
Cars are looking good, keep up the great work chris
Cracking vid again Chris..👍🏻
Mint mate boompah looks fab and u didn’t need ur panel hammer 😂😂😂 great vid Chris 👊🏻
Looking forward to the wide body kit. Might as well go full rally mode with a big wing. And please debadge the Hyundai bit. Keep the N bit. Cheers
Love it man! You got yourself a subscriber!
Did you kidnap Joe and force him to work? He really didn’t seem like he wanted to be there. 😂
😂😂😂

Not particularly but it will all be redone 😊 thanks man
If Chris is doing what i think he doing he only needs it to look as close to factory spec on the rear repair,
is Joe going to do the cutting ???????
bomper i love it🤣good work Chris keep it up loving the vids
Nice work lads
i dont want to insult you in any way just my honest opinion but keep the hands behind camera please. Love this build and channel!
Hard to tell, but I do hope you've got an axle stand under that back end too!
Surely the rear bumper will have to be taken apart to paint it ? My guess is you are going to wrap the car either a Matt colour or bright orange. You are so lucky the car doesn't have more damage on the front.
Why didn’t you get the Boom-pah painted before putting all the trims on? Saves the painters removing them all again.
Great video, are we going to see a prior design wide body kit coming? Keep up the great videos 😊
Can you take the rear diffuser off without taking the bumper off? As it looks like it just clips into place?
Could we be seeing a wide body kit in the future by the sounds of it
Where did you get the mats for garage floor?
Mate... Always epoxy primer on the bare metal first. Then you can fill it up.
Chris .. what's the crack with the 135i / 1m replica ?
Please be importing a PriorDesigns wide body with the hint towards the rear repair
Hmm, more work on the rear quarter he says 🤔 is that a wide arch going on there?
Great video but use a face mask when sanding filler, you only have one set of lungs,,great repair though.
Thats it spray everything with grinding
The car will get wrapped?
But still, I would really love if you would fix it 100% right so that any future buyer gets a nice car even after removing a wrap
Ill let you into a secret, its not getting wrapped
@@Chris_Slix oh now you make me wonder, and thanks for your reply. I really appreciate and love your content. Would love to see you and Mat sometime in the future as I am also a petrol head. Best greetings from South Germany, Paddy
Matt Armstrong in the making u mate
Great video as always. Where is the Jag?
Itll be back next week
Two great cars you are repairing, good choice
Are you planning on giving it a wide body🤔?
Great video Chris, but please just say hi-un-die 😂
Chris mate. Look at your views compared to your subs. You need to get people to sub. Your vids a great. Maybe do a give away or something 🤷♂️
The orange peel is crazy
Ask you keep saying doesn’t have to be 100% I’m guessing wide body is coming haha
Now I feel really old as I call it a cotter pin 🤦🏻♂️😂
I have never heard that one! 😅
Legend chris mate
It's like watching kids TV 😂
Chris great content but calm down with the adds good luck fella
Was the rear panel too far gone to use PDR ?
why would you use a grinding wheel that will damage the metal instead of using a paint and rust removal disc
j just subscribed as you deserve more subscribers ... your getting like Armstrong so we will expect your channel to blow up at some point ...
Why build the bumper up. Before it's painted?
Youll see 😅
Joe man of many words lol
Id have probably closed that fuel door before using the grinder.
Another good video 🚗🚙🚘⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍👍👍👍👍
Couldn't that qtr be repaired paintless?
Absolutely not 😂
3:54 does anyone know the name of this song?? It reminds me of my childhood😭😭😭
👌🏻
What’s the song at 14:17
Your going to wrap it lol
I have plans but not quite what you expect 😅
can't un hear boom-pah😂😂😂😂
I think this is going to be an amazing ongoing thing 😂
Great vid but as a detailer why on earth wouldn’t you cover up the rest of the car when grinding on a panel. Hot sparks + paint = fucked paint !!!!!!!
Maybe the current paint doesnt matter 😅
@@Chris_Slix oooh cryptic lol 😂 ok you got me there. 👍 great build keep it up 👍
I hate your drill 😂
Why are you building the rear bumper up only to have to completely strip it again the get it painted seem a waste of time
Youll see 😅
So sorry Chris you can't say bumper I think it's Matt's influence he often can't pronounce things.
Its the leicester accent 😂
first = pin?
no
so the colour will be changed :)
