@@DuFFuL I am about to purchase EZDrummer3 to specifically record metal/death metal. I know that I'd need to get an expansion to get the sounds I want. I only saw the names of the expansions, but hadn't heard any samples. And there are so many metal ones, but had no idea which I would like or dislike. Still debating, but your input on top of the sampling has helped me to narrow my options since money is tight and can only afford to have one expansion. I like everything on your list, but to only have one at first, it has been incredibly helpful to know the limitations of each.

I wasn't sure if the modern metal would be a little too generic, but you've given me a lot more confidence in considering it. I also am more considering the duality 2 as well. Wasn't even on my radar until I saw your video. Also love the tone of the toms in number 2 and I like number 4 a lot as well. Most likely gonna get one of those 4. If you could only have one, would number 1 be your choice? And I'm curious, if I got a second one down the road, could I take the snare from one and combine with the toms and cymbals of another? Or can I only use one at a time? This will be my first time ever using a software like this. I've been stuck to the stick sounds from my td-9 for too long now 😂

@@fightclub94 Honestly if I had to choose one right now, I really wouldn't know which. I've actually just started using Mix wave drums and I'm completely blown away by them.
If you are really looking into getting Ezdrummer expansions, any of the ones in my top 10 list are all great but it just depends on the exact sound you are going for. The death metal expansion is amazing and so is the Dark Matter. The modern metal one is very niche and won't suit all styles. It is still my number one, but it might not suit your style.
Honestly go back through my videos and I have a lot more in-depth reviews on each of the expansions in the list. Each video has a song I wrote using those drums. It will hopefully help you make a more informed decision and not waste any money!!!

@@DuFFuL I was considering Death Metal after the video and at this point, I'm trying to find a reason not to get it, and so far, can't find one. The fact that it happened to be your first suggestion in your last comment is really giving me the last bit of confidence I was looking for. Dark Matter was also what I figured may be my second one in the future. Seems like we have very similar taste!
I'll double check your previous videos to be sure, but I've essentially made up my mind that that I will get the Death Metal EZX first.

I now have and according to your videos, "death metal, made of metal, metal!, drums of destruction. If I have to keep one it would be DRUMS OF DESTRUCTION... all the presets are varied and fantastic and stick to a fat guitar sound (peavey 6505/ gibson) even if the grooves are unusable.
DEATH METAL is great too, lots of ambiance, but sometimes you have to lower the reverb a little, the grooves are not very usable for heavy metal on the other hand.
MADE OF METAL has a great sound but sounds a little muddy with my guitar sound, but good after a few adjustments, notably by lowering the sound of the hi-hat which takes up too much space. The grooves are great!
METAL! I don't know enough yet, it sounds older than the others but seems good for working on a new piece with its very dry sound, but I think I would try to choose another kit for the final demo...but I don't don't know him well enough yet.

The problem is that I love it on the snare but wish I could turn the reverb down on the toms separately!!! It’s the one thing that has always frustrated me about ezdrummer as a whole. I really wish they had a reverb knob for each kit piece. Put it right next to the volume and tuning knob when you click on something. That would be amazing.
