Absolutely love surface fishing some great tips there hopefully they will help people to start doing it and having great success with them I managed to catch my new pb last Friday on a bit of bread pinched on the hook 5 ft from the bank
Ive got a fox warrior 2.75lb. Cost me a tenner for my missus but its now my surface rod. Got a little map carp reel with 12lb line and its such a fun setup. Reels a tad small for the rod but the rod is so light compared to my 3.25s i have a great time with it. Have zero plans on changing it unless i break it. Best way to fish imo
Last weekend i went suface fishing in the hot sun with feeder rods and bolt bubble and caught lots of carp even a 25lb mirror i caught the weak before on a method feeder (it is the biggest mirror in the lake) so the owner was shocked I also had a 18lb ghosty also biggest in the lake 🎉 Surface fishing is great i prefer a small chunk of bread crust straight on the hook with mixers as loose feed Anyways nice video 🎉
Can I use method feeder rod with quiver tip for surface fishing, got a spare rod and reel with spare spool so I can put a surface line and use it as my float rod ? I fish in place with carps around 25lb
Complex-T popups, same colour and size as Chum biscuits, and they don't keep coming off like Chum does after a couple of casts. Assuming you're using Chum as your freebies.
They didn't bother me at all on this trip but the best method I have found in the past is to simply feed them off if you can. I've gone through half a bag of dog biscuit before just to fill them up. Once they are full they tend to leave you alone. I don't have a bird scarer torch but they could be used I suppose yeah
Just to add, feeding them off is the only way on many places, but using bright yellow floating braid can unnerve gills and ducks, especially if cast onto the far bank and tightened enough to sit above the surface. I know Dave lane uses a model gull cast out onto the surface to spook them off too If feeding them off, cheap, out of date bread fills them up very quickly( and floating crust can often be taken more readily by carp, and usually isn't spat as quickly)
Marielle: Joe have you seen the olive oil? Joe: we've run out of it! Watching the bread/mixer intently, fish slurps it down, STRIKE!!! & then find out you been watching the wrong bait 🙄
Great vid curley, but it would be very handy if you went into more detail for a novice like myself....size line of mainline/hooklink also tc of dedicated rod pls mate, thanks👍
@Yosume2k unfortunately, the best way I have found is to simply feed them off. Bring way more mixers than you need and just stick loads in. Once they are full they get bored
Your hooks are massive. I take my son carp fishing with a banded mixer. Using a snapped of black waggler short hook length and size 14 banded hair rig. I bet he would out catch you.
i love surface fishing hearing them slurpin up the floatin bread or pellets i use very fun way of fishing.. Awsome video Joe
It's a great sound 🤣 cheers for watching

Got any more tips that perhaps I missed? Comment below to help each other out 😁 hope you all enjoyed it too
Top tip: 1 rod at a time if surface fishing 😜😂
@@fiestaturbo1287 Where's the drama in that though 🤣
@@nuffinbutfishing 😂🤣😂top man 🎣
Coat your mixers in a stick mix or insect meal after the oil. Gets a nice spread of particle that gets them grubbing harder.

Lighter rods have definitely made me enjoy surface fishing more 🎣👌🏻

Nice one 👌🏻
That’s a good shout, do you find the 12 or 15mm size works best?
@@MikeK-sg3eb 12mm
That’s great, thanks for replying, definitely going to give them a go
Definitely my preferred way to fish, taking them off the top. What size hook and pattern is your go too when floater fishing?
I tend to use a size 8 floater claw. Never really gone any smaller
It's hard to get those float here, can you make a diy video for the float?
@Randomthings_1214 never made one before so I wouldn't know how to, sorry
Bakers dog biscuits - big round meatball type - super buoyant for long time and right size to go for the bigger carp.
Nice 👌🏻
Nice video. How do you deal with wildfowl pestering you? (Geese/ducks/cutes etc). Are the carp life red torches worth a purchase at a last resort?

Is this peg 1 on shearwater?
Yeah it was 👌🏻

15lb mainline, 12lb hooklink, and the rods are usually around the 2 1/4lb tc Mark 👌🏻
@@nuffinbutfishing thankyou mark👌👍
@jasoncarty2175 Mark? 🤣 guessing you meant mate 😁
@@nuffinbutfishing 🤣🤣🤣yes I did Joe.🤣👍
Any tips for keeping the wildlife off your spot?

Not a bad thing having a good pullout game but not with fishing 🤣🤣
👀👀👀
Another good tip is wear a cap that doesn't continuously fall over your eyes, so you can see what's going on 😂
That's more a hair issue than a cap one 🤣🤣
Let me know cheers
Sadly where I fish surface fishing is banned 😂😂😂😂😂
Surface fishing bans are always annoying 🤣
@@nuffinbutfishing when I last fished forty years ago it was a delight
My best bait was an alcoholic flavoured floating cake.

Sounds like fun but noone mentioned anything about it being a competition 🎣 glad your son enjoys his fishing 😁
and i bet his dad is harder than your dad 🙄
Wow..... What an absolute fucking helmet
Yes and you probably don't have specimen sized carp in there. 🪖
