No he does lock his wrist on his forehand but he releases it right after contact so it just looks like he's flailing his wrist a lot. Slow it down to 0.25 speed and you can see it

Especially when they are put under pressure, are tired, but the most important thing no camera can capture is the unshakable desire to win and how they read the game, anticipation and an instinct for where to put the shot to create an opening.
If you notice, watch Federer's head as he is hitting a shot, especially his forehand. He has a slight tilt of the head as he keeps his eyes on the ball all the way into his racquet.
I play tennis 30ish years, I try to hit with a similar stroke as the GOAT, 1HBH and a similar forehand (I'm semi-western grip, Fed is modified eastern), and I could watch this video of his peRFection for hours just to have drilled into my mortal mind the way it's supposed to be done.
You can learn soooo much about how to strike the ball with correct positioning, grip, rotation of the torso, racket motion and acceleration, etc., just by watching the Swiss Maestro in slow motion. Thanks for the upload! :)
Yep this is a great video of fed. I’m struggling with both forehand and backhand and from watching this I think on my forehand my elbow needs to come through more and on my backhand my arm needs to be straighter at contact. Still analysing this!
After practicing yesterday against the wall it was the first time in my life I used a slightly open stance and holy crap power, spin and control all came at once. Planting the back leg first and by staying more open you can rotate properly through the ball and generate lag and head speed. I was taught all wrong by closing the shoulders off and then Bringing the right leg forward after the shot.
People trying to copy style or tech, it's all in the head which one can't have a glimpse of. You can't learn someone's tech by slomo it or microscoping it and then expect to get same results.

@@jz77096 what I meant here is we are taught to bend our knees to generate power from the ground up. He is probably generating toons of power compared to us mere mortals not even barely bending his . All this power comes for perfect timing and perfect technique. Also from the body coiling and uncoiling .torso and hips angle separation . In another words they are in a total different league .
how come i have to move like 8 steps and adjust my position so much after every shot while he moves 1-2 steps each time and still hits a perfect shot...
