"Colonel" Parker was the worst thing that ever happened to Elvis. Elvis would have been a super star no matter who managed him, so Parker gets nothing but contempt from me. The absurd fee he paid himself to (mis)manage Elvis, was nothing short of robbery. All the bad business decisions -- look at the things Elvis wanted to do and didn't get to do, because of Parker; he didn't get to record Dolly's song, because of Parker's greed. He didn't get to star opposite Streisand in A Star Is Born, because of Parker's greed. He never got to tour internationally, because of Parker's fear of being found out to be in the country illegally. He kept Elvis locked into so many movies, that fans were deprived of live performances for most of the 60's. The man was a con artist, who cost Elvis way more than he ever did for him. No one can ever change my mind about that.
In the beginning Parker was really good for Elvis, but slowly became a toxic serum.Parker treated Elvis as a carinaval animal he could earne big money on. Just disgusting 😒
It beggars belief that Dolly Parton would call Parker a “brilliant” man whilst detailing the process in which Elvis was unable to record her song. Parker’s “brilliance” on insisting on publishing ensured only second-raters and third-raters with second and third-rate songs got the gig. So much great recordings have been lost because of Parker’s cheap and cheerless money-grubbing. Same with that Bienstock. Parton would never have allowed her career to be run by such people.
Truer words were never spoken. A recent Smithsonian story suggests that Parker may also have been a murderer on the lam from Dutch police. For all Elvis achieved, the might-have-beens are too painful to think about: meaningful movie roles opposite Robert Mitchum and others; tours of Europe, Asia and elsewhere; the gospel album he dreamed of doing with MLK-all aborted by Parker. Immeasurable losses.
What I've noticed about the things people say about meeting Elvis is how often they refer to "his presence", "his charisma", or "it was like he was the only person in the room". They speak of it like a spiritual moment. It's almost like Elvis Presley was a gift from God himself...

Its just incredble the effect Elvis has... here we all are (or most of us) not even BORN YET when he was alive and yet he has the effect of bringing obsessed/ hardcore fans (me)... So powerful...
I've been an Elvis fan for over 42 years and I've been so happy to see new generations of people appreciate and enjoy his music. Elvis was in this world, but not of this world.
This puts me in mind of something ....I've spent years (decades really) studying/ researching pop-culture history... as well as famous people & many different artists from Elvis era.. and I have come across so many Elvis related stories. Stories coming from people & places I wasn't looking for them or expecting. Some of them from many other famous people that were not part of this video, but also some stories from completely non-famous people (just working class, everyday folks like most of us). And so many of their personal accounts or anecdotes always reveal a very genuine, kind person...ex: the handyman that worked at recording studio said most famous singers never gave him time of day, but Elvis on other hand was the only one that would stop, spend time talking with him.. treating him (the handyman) is if he was the famous person, Elvis acting as the non-famous person. Janitors that swept floors on movie & film sets told similar stories. And some of those on film sets had extra revealing observations that tell us a lot about Elvis' Humanity. When director John Rich was mistreating and being disrespectful to some of the minorities on the film set, Elvis jumped all over him, had him knock it off. Actress Teri Garr said when Director on their film was being disrespectful to the women, Elvis called out for the director for how he was talking to the ladies. Nobody else stepped up or said anything, Elvis was the one that actually spoke up though. Better believe in both of those instances it meant something to the minorities and also to the women that somebody (at least Elvis) said something. My personal favorite story - Gospel singer Ray Walker said he was at a recording studio with Elvis and a bunch of bigwig music Reps in fancy suits from New York flew in town showed up at the studio and walked over to Elvis, (they had an award to give Elvis & wanted to talk business) and they were attempting to interrupt him while he was talking w/the clean-up handyman. They didn't see the handyman as anybody important and thought they could brush him aside to get to Elvis. But Elvis turned his back on the sharp dressed music reps and gave all of his time and attention to the handyman, as well as Elvis apologizing to him for their attempted interruption. Ray said then Elvis walked over to the music executives and gave them a stern lecture about rudeness, how to treat people, and why it's important not to interrupt. His life of hardship and extreme poverty he was born into, as well as his humble working-class existence before he was famous - that all gave him a character & strengths that set him apart from others in many cases. Albert Clark (a black man) said one day when he and Elvis were talking, one of the white guys standing with Elvis refused to shake Albert's hand. Albert said Elvis, noticing the disrespect, made the white man shake his hand - "You will shake this man's hand, the same as you shook mine when you arrived". it meant a lot to Albert that Elvis did that. *Actual kindness* & respect for others really matters. With Elvis kindness wasn't just an act. He really was one of those genuine people that just cared about the way OTHER people were treated. I was just thinking about that while watching this video. Yes that is one of the several reasons why I like Elvis as a man not just the singer but what kind of a person he was and I loved that he stood up for his black friends against someone that didn't want to shake a white person's hand. And it really is sad that people that don't know anything about Elvis that they assume he was a racist but that is very far from the rumor but he loved people he did not see color but the person inside that person. My sister won the Miss Tennessee pageant in 1969, and the grand prize was a trip to Graceland. So, sure enough, our whole family went. Elvis was in Hawaii for the comeback Special made famous that year, but he called, and spoke to Leslie simply wishing her well. The gravity of the event never really sunk in because all of it was overwhelming to us. But, the fact that he made the call was astounding. No one else was in the house but just my family and the care takers. They did not know what to do with us, so, they just let us roam around the house. The place was a museum of gaudy and tacky colors, fabrics, and items. I spent most of the time watching a regular TV while sitting on a blue crushed velvet couch waiting for lunch. Then, just like that, my dad says " how do we get out of here "...they laughed, and we left. That was it. Surreal.
You might have thought it was gaudy but a crushed velvet couch in blue sounds so beautiful to me! Lucky people who don't appreciate they got a private tour of his home. These days that would never happen!

Elvis was the most humble and the greatest humanitarian .He served his country and never regretted it . He loved Gods music . RIP till we see you again Elvis .
100 years from now, Elvis will still be living. I have said this before, and I believe it to be true. I was but a very young child when Elvis died. I am just now getting into what his career was all about. His gospel music comes directly from above. There is no equal.
I was born in 1973 and I would guess my earliest memory is probably seeing a newspaper on the table in a doctor's waiting room that said ' Elvis Presley dead at 42' . And I recall that I already knew who Elvis was even at 4 years old. I already associated the name with the face and the hair and the voice and those little 45 records . I grew up near Cincinnati, so when I thought of superstars or celebrities , I thought of Johnny Bench, Pete Rose, Joe Morgan, Sparky Anderson and Elvis
I love these famous people , famous by their own right talk about Elvis. They are as much awed by him, as we ordinary people are. Someway Elvis brings us all in the same level... There is Elvis Presley.. and then there is rest of Humanity...
That's a great description of Elvis...he was and is still a disarmingly charming and charismatic person with a voice that can only be bestowed on one human being in our human existence...
Except the Bible says king David was a man after God's own heart. Elvis is probably downstairs wishing he followed the Bible instead of transcendental meditation
He came like an Alien from out of space, and upstaged somebody who was supposed be talented. The stage wasnt alive with Sinatras presence, his singing was good and he had some good songs. But Elvis's talent was mind blowing, and he could sing like no other man. Elvis is the definitive artist of this whole century, oh and lets not forget the Beatles, but to start off with the Beatles use to cover Elvis and Buddy Holly songs. Then later Elvis was covering Beatles songs.
lol Why did Elvis cover their songs then?.. Ofcourse he was a supernatural specimen, and he was born to rock, and born to make girls ograsm lol.. But as well the Beatles were something else, not only could they write but, but the groove and the breaks in the songs, they are the tightest band the world has ever seen. Other than when Elvis first started with Scotty Moore, i agree that time takes some topping. But as well the Beatles put there stamp on a different style of music, and they didnt just compete in one genre. If i didnt love the Beatles i wouldnt be English, but then if i didnt love Elvis, i couldnt say i know true Rock "N" Roll. There was so much talent back then in the 50's and little Richard was something else aswell, Fats Dominoe, Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran. All those guys set the stage for the future generations..
The King covered many artists, and there are many bands that did what the Beatles could NEVER do. You shouldn't even have to ask who these bands are. However, it's simply asinine to try to compare four ugly English songwriters to the supernatural human specimen that was Elvis Presley. As Dylan said, Elvis is the deity supreme of rock and roll religion as it exists in today's form. It all goes back to him. He is the Big Bang of modern popular culture. The Beatles jaws hit the floor in amazement when they flew across an ocean to meet the King in one of his living rooms. It wasn't even Graceland, either. This says all you need to know.
Humm well they still got payed when he played the beatles songs, and he didnt do a bad job on Something, but it really shows how the inspiration bounced back. The King covered many artist's yeah, but the King couldnt write his own music, so he covered Something by George Harrison and a few other Beatles songs, either way you look at it, they must of been something, if Elvis wanted to cover them. Or are you missing something here?.. Like did you forget that Paul and John are the two biggest composers of the world. And also as did Elvis change the world, so did the Beatles and started a new revolution, and it was inspired by Elvis originally. But unfortunately Elvis whent against his roots, and well with out Scotty Moore it was never quite the same in the musical sense. That big band sound was never as good as, the original line up with Scotty Moore on guitar, Bill Black Bass and DJ Fontana. So when Elvis really started selling out, then it wasnt hard for the Beatles to monopolise, but unfortunately Elvis ended up recording some terrible music. For example Kissings Cousins and Old Shep and all that fucking bollox commercial shit music! I know he was making movies, but it was really was an insult to all the music he layed down in the first part of his career. lol But aswel i can honestly say the Beatles never recorded a song as gay as Old Shep, and never recorded a song as gay as Kissing Cousins, and i think thats the end of the conversation.
It's great when you see and hear theses famous people speak about the man that was King, the fact there important and talented people by there own right, the way there faces on the up as they speak of Elvis says so much about the voice and the legand

Elvis was the man ,even to this day he was the best singer in the world and still is in millions of peoples view people say elvis couldnt act. But he could act and was a dam good actor just look at his movies in the 60s in his movies which with the teeny bobbers he was fantastic with every part he played in. The singing in those movies was alsome and so was his back ups and his bands were superb. They really made the movies he played look so good in his movies, the comedy the seriousness the love he showed all the other actors and actresses they all say he was brilliant, that its self says enough.
THE Don Spaghetti & Ravioli Back then it probably wasn't bad or against the law to date a minor. But they got married when she was 21. At least this situation isn't as bad as MJ, he molested little boys.
THE Don Spaghetti & Ravioli well all of Elvis friends said he was a gift from God, and I think so too. He is very talented, but he did make mistakes. But don't we all? He is human just like us.

1,5 billions people watched him in Ahola it says all
Well said!!.. the best of all time.
@@phatxity9948 yes 1.5 billion out of 5 billion people. This will never ever be reached. Only at the end of times will over this amount of people watch the event live
I loved Elvis. I sure miss him alot.
Me too! But you said "loved" don't you still love him?😊
Definitely elvis presley made huge diffference in pop culture. He paved the way for all celeb to the position now they are. Because of him we have word call superstar, celebrities and took completely to new height.
I love elvis presley so good looking n voice of angel. I regret I was born so late.
i was 17 when Elvis performed in vegas but in was into heavy rock but once i discovered elvis; music i was stuck
Had the privilege to see Elvis in Vegas and no one comes close to him!
I met Elvis in 1957 outside of WHBQ TV on Madison next to my grandma's restaurant. I was playing outside and he rode up on his motorcycle with a girl on the back. I ran and jumped up on him giving him a hug. I was only 3 and have no real memory of this, but my mom and grandma told me that my whole life.
Animals and Children sense if other humans have a good soul.
It's just amazing to hear how everyone, from such different walks of life, would identify with the charm of Elvis...he really was the most transcendent personality of the 20th Century!...and that is why I am still sad for how and why things had to close on his public life...hopefully he found happiness in his days after 8/16/77...
I sure would have loved to meet Elvis.
Man Elvis in his uniform ,Have MERCY 🙌😁💖💖💖 HE WAS FRIGGIN AMAZING, never see another artist like him again😎
Elvis Presley the biggest icon ever ever hands down y'all can sit down today's music yada yada yada Elvis Presley man what can you say he had it all!!!!!
Freddy Mercury! Then lost his soul to the devil.Look it up.
@@lindadimira4395 who's talking about Freddie Mercury this is about Elvis Presley?? . Freddie Mercury died in his sin of homosexuality so yes he did lose his soul to the devil... from what I saw Freddie was worshipping the devil on stage in front of his audiences.
That is a real shame Elvis didn’t sing ‘I’ll Always Love You’, by Dolly Parton. That would have been great.
He wanted to, but his reps insisted he own the rights and Dolly wisely didn’t sell to him.
It was as manager Colonel Tom Parker who is a thief to know he took 50% of everything Elvis earned and so he told Dolly Parton he wanted 50% of the song She Wrote she's like hell no she said it a nice way
The getting royalties from the song worked in the fifties, but he couldn’t get any good songs in the seventies. Some that he recorded then were only two verses with repetitive chorus
Loved him and his music all my 70 years and still do.
ELVIS PRESLY wunderbare Mensch hat so viel getann um anderen Freude zumachen und er hat an sich nie gedacht er hätte einmal an sich denken sollen er hat andere Glücklich gemacht ❤❤❤❤❤
Love the man Elvis Presley! Love his music...best vocals ever!!!!!
Man he was so much better than today's stars
I miss Elvis and Whitney, two great entertainers.

Seems after Elvis, there is nothing
@@SuperBeachbum74 80s and 90s were pretty good, and you can find good stuff today, but those living in the 60s and 70s witnessed the pinnacle of popular music.
That was a tongue in cheek comment from John Lennon. There was rock n' roll before Elvis first arrived on the scene. Fats Domino, Little Richard etc.

The most handsome man who ever walked on this planet 🌏🌏🌏🌍🌏🌍🌏🌍🌏🌍🌏🌍🌏
Great videos, these, my friend. I love to listen to those who met Elvis. Thanks for compiling this.
Surreal.
thanks for sharing.
You might have thought it was gaudy but a crushed velvet couch in blue sounds so beautiful to me!
Lucky people who don't appreciate they got a private tour of his home.
These days that would never happen!
Elvis will be the greatest until the end of time... How can anyone expect to compete?

Elvis presley der größte und wird immer bleiben der alle beste keine war so wie Elvis und ist der beste und das wird er bleiben für immer bei mir
Its great to hear important people speak about Elvis, and its sweet how they are excited like any other fans
He had something in common with everyone. He had a insatiable courious about people and life. He wanted to learn about everyone and everything. He wanted to know what you liked or what you do. The people around him told many stories about how he wanted to know about everyone and what you liked. What you do and why you chose that?
same with Mozart
Marvelous video 🎼🎙🎸🦋❤..the King 👑👑👑👑👑
This was really fun to watch. Thank you.
Todos hablando bien de Elvis!! Que suerte tuvo esta gente de conocerlo!!Elvis forever👑!!!!❤

Elvis was the greatest. There will never be another like him in this century.
+Patrick Loftus He is still the greates
Wasn't even alive this century, unfortunately! Lol fr tho
Ever
WKRP 😉
I love these famous people , famous by their own right talk about Elvis. They are as much awed by him, as we ordinary people are. Someway Elvis brings us all in the same level... There is Elvis Presley.. and then there is rest of Humanity...
I can not imagine a man being as gorgeous as Elvis and as sweet as he was. He was Amazing.
He IS Unique.
@Seriously Malfunctioned 😂
Elvis is Chiseled Perfection and Nobody can come close to his looks or talent!! Long live the King!!
That's a great description of Elvis...he was and is still a disarmingly charming and charismatic person with a voice that can only be bestowed on one human being in our human existence...
@@kalania14 of course he was white
This is great! Everybody loved/loves Elvis! ❤️ I wish he was aware of that.
God anointed Elvis Presley just like King David was anointed by God
Except the Bible says king David was a man after God's own heart. Elvis is probably downstairs wishing he followed the Bible instead of transcendental meditation
@Robert Beck thats like your very ineffectual, impolitic, subjective, opinion, ......man
@Robert Beck have 2 agree with you 💯 👌
I am in awe of his aura
Back when entertainers were respectful.
Always the King! 👑
So sad I didn't get to meet him before he died love him so much xxxx
He came like an Alien from out of space, and upstaged somebody who was supposed be talented. The stage wasnt alive with Sinatras presence, his singing was good and he had some good songs. But Elvis's talent was mind blowing, and he could sing like no other man. Elvis is the definitive artist of this whole century, oh and lets not forget the Beatles, but to start off with the Beatles use to cover Elvis and Buddy Holly songs. Then later Elvis was covering Beatles songs.
Daniel T u
Four ugly English guys have nothing to do with the supernatural human specimen that was King Elvis Presley.
lol Why did Elvis cover their songs then?..
Loved Goldie... Her excitement at thought of Elvis.. I just bonded with her..
The presidents of the United States loved Elvis to and they still do

Elvis was the man ,even to this day he was the best singer in the world and still is in millions of peoples view people say elvis couldnt act. But he could act and was a dam good actor just look at his movies in the 60s in his movies which with the teeny bobbers he was fantastic with every part he played in. The singing in those movies was alsome and so was his back ups and his bands were superb. They really made the movies he played look so good in his movies, the comedy the seriousness the love he showed all the other actors and actresses they all say he was brilliant, that its self says enough.
Elvis was The greatest of his time MJ of his & GM amazing ..All geniuses 💕
Elvis is unparalled, others Imitate but can't be equal.
For sure!!
THE Don Spaghetti & Ravioli no he wasn't, Michael was.
THE Don Spaghetti & Ravioli I'm not making excuses, and who told you Elvis dated school girls? And are they reliable.
Elvis to Steve Martin, 'Son, you have an oblique sense of humour' Hilarious. As well as an unparalleled talent, Elvis had a great personality and sense of humour.
