  • Had my Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera on me when work got cancelled this morning, so I just ran around Deep Cove for a couple hours shooting whatever I could as the sun came up. Need to balance the Glidecam better, this camera is too light for it. Warp Stabilizer is too noticeable on some of the shots.
Some of it's a bit overexposed as I was testing how far my RAW went into my Zebras at 100%, and I didn't do proper color correction just some quick tweaks in Premiere. That'll come in the future when I figure the RAW process a bit more.
These aren't all shots I would use in a produce, but for a practice scenario I'm pretty happy with how some of the shots turned out in the end.

Considering you were just ''playing around'', these are some really nice images, well done. I would agree about balancing the Glidecam mind you, as got slight motion-sickness feeling in a couple of shots!

That was really amazing man....I need to learn to make images like these...what goes through your mind when framing a shot?

Man, that's a hard question lol. First, I'm always listening to music when shooting this stuff, usually a Chillstep mix or something that gets me into the mood. Then I find something I think looks cool and think about how can I add some movement to emphasize the beauty of what I'm seeing. Do I want to start on it, or slowly reveal it? How long will my shot be? Throughout that you really need to think about where you want your audiences eyes to end when your done the shot, are they still looking all over the frame or are you giving them something in the middle to focus on?
Really, most of it is just instinctual from studying framing, cinematography, what looks good and what doesn't. Take into account leading lions, color balance, etc. To be honest I get some decent shots, but I could definitely be doing better. Which is why these are all camera tests. :P

Amazing man! I 100% agree on the music! I used to listen to all kinds of songs for hours before I even picked up my camera. Then when I heard the right song it's like an image just popped into my head then I would go film something to match the music and the image. That's funny how we have those similarities lol Thanks for the info!
