Hey, thank you for the video! Just bought this radio and am superhappy to find your review about it. Thank you very much for that. Keep on your good work, you have a good voice, the video is well structured and I got some information, that I was looking for. Thank you again for your effort and cheers from Vienna/Austria.
I am waiting my unit here to Spain..... It's in the post office right now waiting to be delivered.... I am waiting at the front door...I can't wait to get it! Thanks for the review....;-)
This is my first time viewing one of your videos. Very nice video! I think it is great to here more women on the ham bands and involved with the sciences.
Well we try! It is difficult for me to get call backs, why I am not investing in HF equipment. I like to listen to most, and my challenge is seeing how far I can receive stations. I do some communication on DMR around the world which is fun.
I have 2 of these and have found them to be an excellent value. I got them for my wife and family to use since they are not familiar with two-way radios in general and the simplified display is easier for them. Also, CHIRP does now work well with this model.
I’m having a hard time programming repeaters offsets. 443.575rx 448.575tx. I have this same radio in green. On simplex it works well so far. Thank you!
Good lady, could you do a demo with it on the air band? to see if the audio is good? because they say he demodulates in AM if he is better than baofeng. I look forward to it. hugs !
Ordered. Wish me luck 🙂 Received: Like it. It should be mentioned that this radio absorbs UV5R "code plugs" natively in Chirp. Therefore for me, it's the easiest new radio I have recently found. I have a lot of respect for this model. It looks cool, but not particularly rugged. Pretty good. The big display is great. Colored case is cool.
hi I bought this radio some months ago, and the frequency range is from 20Mhz to 660Mhz, I found some issues in the radio I had been in contact with abbree but I don't have any feedback until now
The janpai brand of the same radio was 3.5 watts. The tyt uv8000d 10 watt radio actually is high power. Has a big battery, dual watch, crossband capable 7 watts uhf 9.5 watts vhf on my meter. it's worth the $70.
Only thing I'll like to add in most areas you can still listen to the fire department dispatch. Our radios are digital but almost all the pagers are not. Like our dispatch is transmitted on digital along side of vhf our is 154.220, that's so with the tones our pagers go off and u can here the dispatch. Once we're on our operation channel these radios will not here us talking. I have several Baofeng radios for ham use and I can listen to all fire dispatch calls with them.
Okay, the radio came 2 days ago and here's what I think. Cheaper than I expected. Bad reception. Prone to desense. Avoid high gain antennas. Use the stock duck. Very poor air band reception. Wide is too wide and narrow is way, way too narrow. Came with the CT option hard enabled so no reception on 6 channels. Had to computer program the radio to erase those channels to solve the problem. Display is dim even on HIGH. Just short of 4 Watts output. The ALARM button option must be selected like it or not. I just turned the lower side button off to ditch that alarm noise. My upper side button has monitor and display off. It scans like an old snail. The owners pamphlet is a sad joke. Then there's the "scrambler" menu option. Who knows. Has the latest firmware v205. Another quality Chineseum product.
Having been in military/federal law enforcement and actually worked with the FCC GS1811 Special Agents with badges who basically said that so long as someone is licensed or authorized to operate on any given service (MURS, GMRS FRS, Amateur, Marine), and not exceed authorized TX power limits, no one is going to bother you over Parts 80, 85, 90, 95, 97 ... If you have a Part 90 transceiver your pretty much good to go. Nice, informative video. The color is an attempt to copy the Motorola & Harris lime green for Fire and Emergency services
How do you change the off set frequency for repeaters please. When you set the - + for this I am unable to change the transmit frequency... Nice little radio all the same.
Just because a exacuable isn't signed, doesn't mean it's bad. Any program written in Visual Basic 6 for example, will be unsigned by default. Looks nice.
I bought one of these radios as well for the airband use and mine seems like its slightly out of band when a pilot comes through I can hear it but its like they are a quarter MHZ off...
I just got mine and live near an airport so I did some testing. The issue appears to be that strong AM air band transmissions overwhelm the receiver so the demodulated audio has low noise but is clipped, similar to listening to a wide FM signal in narrow band mode. Weaker AM signals sound clearly demodulated and lower volume with normal background noise like on a typical air band capable receiver. If you attenuate the signal by moving the radio or touching the antenna, the modulation on the same transmission that was clipped then sounds clear again like it should. Maybe it has no automatic gain control or has a receiver amplifier or detection circuit/software (SDR) design issue. If the latter, I am hopeful a firmware upgrade could fix the issue. I have had no issues on FM transmit or receive. It's too bad because it's a great little radio for the price and I got it to monitor air band.
Does this radio support custom channel names? I am looking to buy this radio since it has air-band but I like to be able to name the channels so I know what they are. Also, does this radio transmit on 220MHz band?
No. The FCC Is NOT “getting close to enforcing” out of band radios. They never have and will not unless you act a fool or are a manufacturer . This is a myth.
There is also a major bug in the software. If you are using repeaters it allows you to input a receive frequency and a transmit frequency. However, it does not use the transmit frequency. A huge problem.
@@invisiblelight6788 with this radio there is a problem with the reception compared to another radio, I also do not know what this mute function is for
