There’s definitely something to be said for the simplicity and streamlining of these phones. I miss not being addicted to a smartphone. And I love how sleek these are! 😍
God I remember my dad getting these phones for all his employees at his company. Such nostalgic times. Then they swapped to BlackBerry which had brick break and I remember that blowing me away.
16 years ago, that person was me, i was on holiday in london and bought the Razr 2 V8 in the O2 shop and had it unlocked across the street from the shop after buying it so i could use it when i went home. The Dolce & Gabanna V3i was expensive when it was released, i think around 500 euros so it seems like it retained it's full value and appreciated a bit, i always wanted it but when i finally saved enough for it the specs were not worth it and i went with the V3xx instead.
@@montaguebarnabasltd I loved it for playing music with the screen closed, i sold mine around 2010 and i was fully in BlackBerry mode by then, I think tech moved so fast in the 2000s up until the mid 2010s
Dolce&Gabbana Moto RAZRs aren’t rare at all in Italy, probably because Dolce&Gabbana is an Italian brand and they sold a lot of those phones here. I can even get a boxed one for just 60$
Moto RAZR... outrageous you have to open the phone to use Google Assistant... since Jan '24 - still that way in May. Great idea, but someone dropped the ball on this critical function.
those phones still look good now. And I dont understand why people take loads of photos now to fill up a 16Gb iPhone or SD Card. My iPhone X is 64Gb, and it only has 10 photos on there, like you said ones that are worth taking
@@montaguebarnabasltd There are some cool modern alternatives like the 4G Punkt MP02 phone. It has internet messaging via Signal and hotspot capabilities. Though, the only thing it’s missing is a camera.
How are people even still using older phones when network providers don't support them anymore, i wouldn't mind using my old droid og, any info would be nice.
In the UK 2G is still up I believe. Same applies with some other countries Edit: it’s not still up. But texts and calls work fine. Not sure the specifics on why or how!
@@montaguebarnabasltd seems like a scam to make people buy newer expensive devices lol. I heard they are also getting rid of 4g in the USA too, so everyone will need to have 5g devices 😬
No worries lol. Old ThinkPads appeal to me as a sort of Windows version of the old upgradable MacBooks. Many are capable of running hackintoshed MacOS too! The design isn’t eye catching, but they certainly do the job, so for me they come across as really solid. I’ve only owned one, but my favourite things about it were the twin batteries and the upgradeability. I really hope to make a video on them in the future, especially since some of the older ones have socketed CPUs so can be upgraded there…
If you’re interested in technology, then a piece of history like this might interest you, especially if you like my video style. My point about the photo camera is probably the most important, to me, but if that doesn’t interest you ideologically, fair enough!

Exactly my experience. Really funny how the times just changed in what seems like a split second.

Thanks for telling the story! Yeah it’s amazing how fast tech moved on back then. The thing seemed ancient 5 years later.

That phone was creating such a massive hype back then; fancy seeing it again! 😅
Thanks for watching!
I love my old Nokia 7110 (aka Matrix-seque phone), and still plug my SIM into it every now n then! Enjoyed watching this vid :)

I doubt they are genuine. Of the original batch, only 1000 were made. They’re replicated in the thousands though!
@@montaguebarnabasltd They’re 100% genuine phones. Maybe they were made later on in larger quantities?
@@nomecognome2 as far as I’m aware, the phones are genuine, with D&G branded parts added, which are not genuine.

I would love to switch for a flipphone, but nowadays important app such as bank are mandatory ( so you have to take a failry new phone)

I’m assuming you’re not in the US? Our carrier networks here don’t support devices as old as these anymore unfortunately.
I don’t have a sim in mine, but yep, a lot of countries are phasing 2G and the like out!
