Five Guys doesn't actually give you "extra" fries. They give you a specific portion that they've calculated into the price. They place them into the bag and let you perceive that as "extra" as part of their brand.
Yeah kinda true. I work at fives guys in the UK and in the training they talk about being very generous with fries ouside the cup but 90% of the time just depends on how many fries are cooked and how many orders there are. Also top tip: if you "forget" to order fries online and go to pick it up (at least where I'm working) they will just give you them for free
Also, as an employee of Five Guys, in one of the training videos the employee asked a group of people if they wanted their fries refilled and did so free of charge. Not sure if that's ever been done properly but it's made me wonder
Lol I’m a five guys worker in America and we profit a lot on or fries and drinks so they dont care about giving you a lot of fries because either way we make a profit off of them. It all depends on who works and how many fries were dropped but the company itself doesn’t care if we put 3 large fry worth of fries for a small because we still made a profit
@@seanmoses5225 Except it's a con because they're just the fries you're paying for, but served in a bag instead of the cup. It's like if McDonald's made the boxes for thier fries smaller and dumped the rest in the bag. It just means you end up with more cold fries.

as someone who works at five guys i recommend getting a regular sized fry (in america at least) when you go. the regular and little cup sizes look quite similar and the large looks like it has a huge difference to a regular, which might make you go for the large if you want a lot of fries, but it holds just about the same amount of fries and costs a lot more. always go with the regular
As another 5 guys employee, that's not entirely true. The small and regular do basically have the same amount of fries, but the large absolutely has more fries than the reg and the small. My advice is getting a little if you're on your own, and getting just one or two larges for everyone to share if you're in a group; 1 large is about the same as 4 smalls in terms of quantity, but 1 large is only half the price of 4 smalls. With so many of the people who openly complain about the prices one of the things I often see them do is buy too many small fries, when they could've just bought 1 of the bigger sizes to share and save a lot of money.

All hamburger patties weights are precooked weights. It does not matter what fast food chain you go to. And technically speaking, a hotdog (if served on a bun) is indeed classified as a sandwich.
I use to work for five guys - everything is done exactly the same from UK, US, EU, wherever the system / process to cook, to prep everything are all exactly the same. & patties are weighed before in prep between 3.3-3.5oz per patty.

i always take the toppings in to consideration when thinking about the price at five guys. they have a huge variety and they’re all included in the price, which helps. hell, you can practically make a whole extra meal out of the toppings alone 😆

They never freeze any of there meat there potatoes are grown in like one state in the whole U.S.. they have very high quality products. Plus if you go to a sit down restaurant a burger is any where from $15-$30. So $9 isn’t that bad
Fry issue is probably because when fries are put in bag they are to add a scoop of fries into the bag, but sometimes it's not stacked for more than one fry in bag.
It seems like no matter what size fries you buy, they put a couple scoops extra. So when u got all three sizes in a bag, you only got the extra scoops for one of the fries.
but it's not really even "extra," because it's the amount that should've been in the portion to begin with. so it's not that you're missing out on extra fries when you get more than one size, but actually having fries deducted from the portion.
At my Store in Germany we give out an extra portion of fries to every cup, so three small cups gives you three extra scoops. I would guess this is standard

Is Five Guys overpriced? Yes but are we still gonna buy their food? Yup because no matter the prices, we will find ourselves still crawling back. Their shakes and peanuts are pretty good. It’s like Five Guys tried to go a tad overboard with the American fast food stereotype over here to make it "authentic" (honestly it probably actually is the closest thing we have here to authentic American). It’s weird.
you guys need to specify what US city you are getting your prices from. The prices you list here for the US are about a $1 higher than my local Texas Five Guys.
Fun fact with the Fries. The cup is an illusion. What you're given is always the same, the cup is just there to make it look like you're getting more than you ordered.
The prices are super expensive because of all the toppings offered. If you want a plain or basic burger go to in n out or somewhere else. It’s so expensive
What astonishes me is how consistent these companies are with their short selling. We saw it with BK and Starbucks as well: when a company is low, its low by exactly the same amount and in exactly the same way both sides of the Atlantic. It can’t not be deliberate!
I noticed y'all complaining about the cost of the burgers/cheese burgers, but I didn't hear any mention of the 20 or so free toppings like lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, sautéed mushrooms, caramelized onion, mayo, mustard, catsup, relish, hot sauce, bell peppers, jalapeño pepper, A. 1.sauce, and if you want you can order your burger with bacon an then add any or all of the freebie toppings. Same goes for the dogs. There's also BLTs with the add on toppings.
Every time i have gotten five guys the burgers were cold and the fries were soggy. Also they just look like shit. Five guys looks more like junk fast food than McDonalds
I worked at a 5 guys for 4 years. I sometimes still have nightmares of rolling the meat every morning. We had to weigh each patty--between 3.3 and 3.5 oz was the standard. It loses considerable weight after grilling. Cutting the hotdog in half is the best way to cook it! All beef too. Every fry order is different lol. It depends on the person making them. Prices are outrageous for the food. They always rose too. It was an easy job but pretty fun and the free meal every shift was a great bonus.
Speaking of nightmares, I have one of me smashing the meat but the mountain on the tray never gets any less. I also now I pain in my wrist from being forced to try and do the fries with one hand.
I do love how the portion sizes for once are nearly identical across both countries. In fact I love how my country (UK) is actually in a rare case more unhealthy with the options and exclusives you get. I mean beer with greasy fries and a burger is just insane.
For the fries, it’s 2 extra scoops per one overall order. So since your order consisted of 3 orders of fries in one order, you only got the two scoops. The better way to measure is to measure all the extra fries with each cup of fries or have 3 separate orders and not one massive order.
People sleep on 5 guys hotdogs. So good. Also the way they do the fries is the fill the cup and then just throw another scoop into the bag (used to manage one)
My husband and I noticed that our local five guys portions out the same amount of fries for little and large sizes, so now we both order little fries and save our money..
Five guys are actually quite uncommon in the UK... I’ve only seen and been to one and it’s in Cabot Circus if you’ve ever been there... Five Guys is super overpriced is like £8 for 1 normal burger and like £5 for regular fries! Absolutely CRAZY!
@@Jenniferlwarm although contrast that to McDonald's, which has nearly 1300 branches. I'd have to drive over an hour to the nearest Five Guys, which is probably a good thing for my wallet and waistline!

Yeah don't go to five guys in major tourist locations. They're massively over priced and that's saying something with it being five guys. Went to dublin with my roommate and got five guys. Thing rounded up tp £39/€45 for two small burgers, a large frie and two medium drink.

right. as soon as they stated the prices for the hamburger and fries i pulled up my five guys app. here in western NY that hamburger (2 patties) is $7.09 and the large fries is $5.99, so it’s a pretty big difference.
Yeah, Five Guys' strategy is based around delivering the exact same product all over the world. I was surprised to see they even went as far as translating the menu signs in countries like Germany (they didn't bother in the Netherlands and Belgium). Calling their European numbers just forwards you to a U.S. agent. Also, directly comparing the ingredients of a U.S. product to that of a European product, while interesting, won't yield a particularly useful result. U.S. and EU (/UK) labeling regulations are wildly different. If you marketed the exact same product in the U.S. and the EU, there's a very good chance the ingredient lists would look nothing alike.
As for the weight thing, the weight is measured prior to being cooked. While being cooked, a lot of the fat cooks off thus resulting in lighter patties
The main reason why the burgers are so expensive is because the toppings are no extra charge and nothing is pre made. The only thing that comes in bags in the mushrooms but we have to grill them.
These two are the only reason why I watch this channel

I once read the fries at the bottom of the bag are calculated into the price to only give the illusion of having a good deal

Joe got so mad at the fact that they cut hotdogs in half. I can’t blame him to be honest. It’s just... wrong.
If they don't cut them in half, the hotdog doesn't cook right on the grill. I used to run the grill at a 5 Guys, so I know these things.
If I recall, A&W, the only other burger chain selling hotdogs I know of, also cuts theirs in half.
It also allows more surface of the dog to caramelize during the grilling process making a way better dog

Food wars is literally one of the best and most enjoyable series ever🎉🔥
Who watches this series that doesnt even have most of the restaurants around them they are talking about😂
Yeah, Five Guys' strategy is based around delivering the exact same product all over the world.
Exactly they got themselves like the most basic bland burger instead of getting all toppings that you'd get for their money
