    In this video I share with you two of my personal treasures in these Ashland Leather wallets. I unbox a new Johnny The Fox wallet I just got in from Ashland Leather, and in the end I go over some of the reasons whey I don't like the new wave of mechanical EDC wallets out there on the market today. Thank you for joining me for the video. You can come here and hang out with me any time :-).

    When do things fail? When you are in the worst hurry of your life, and the thing that fails has never once failed before. Good leather products made right will simply never fail. Everything is where it is supposed to be when I open up my leather wallet. I wish everything could be so simple and reliable. Thanks for tuning in to my video. Thank you for this review. I really enjoyed watching it as i'm beginning to look into Ashland leather wallets. All these trendy wallets nowadays are so gimmicky and it feels rather "immature" in a sense. Ashland leather has produced real wallets for your cash and your cards. A true gentleman's piece.

    I have been doing extensive research on classic leather bifold wallets I narrowed it down to either saddleback bifold or ashland "Johnny the Fox", but after seeing your live unboxing I believe I'm sold. Plus they burnish the edges and just the style and craftsmanship is second to none. I can't wait to purchase my first "Johnny the fox" and it probably won't be my last. I can't wait to see how it patinas over the years and I hope they stay in business for the rest of my life and generations to come. Thanks for sharing this unboxing with us.

      I do have a fat herby, and I MUST confess. I love it more!!! I love them both, but mercy, if I had to choose just one… I’m going with fat herby. I love to have the deep well for the cash. Thats the only reason. The Johnny is a beautiful piece, but it’s just not my apocalypse wallet (not that I’d need one in the actual apocalypse), but let me put it like this, I’ll request to be buried with it, amongst other possessions I cherish.

      @@LesSummer ha ha!! Well the Fat Herby is too big for me but the Johnny the Fox is perfect. Not too big not too small. I tried a fake Ridge wallet and it started making my cards peal prematurely and even though it was minimal in my pocket I didn't want to put it with my phone because I was worried it would scratch it and I don't like folding my cash in thirds. I've always owned cheap bifolds and was trying the "minimalist" thing but I didn't like it that much. Plus I love the smell and feel and eventual patina of leather. My brother owns a Ridge wallet and loves it but I love hard wood coffee tables and night stands and I owned a leather jacket as a teenager because my dad turned me on to leather. I love a leather interior and leather steering wheel for my vehicles so it's only natural for me to want leather in my pocket that I can admire and smell and feel all the time. I can't wait to order my J. Fox when I get my tax return. Sorry for the long winded comment. Just passionate.

    Hey, great review. Purchased three wallets from Ashland, great quality, and a nice selection they offer in shell Cordovan. Their customer service is superior.

    My favorite thing about a Fat Herbie is the nice 'slap' it makes. It slaps when you shut it, the slap when I smack it against my hand, the way it squeaks when I flex it back and forth in my hands. I'm not sure if Dublin will slap, but cordovan sure does and cxl probably does.

    I’m pretty sure if you just titled your videos “asmr” you would get a lot more traffic. I love listening to you talk about pretty much anything and find you to be fascinating in a great way. Keep up the great work and I just wanted to say I always look forward to seeing a video pop up from you Sir.

    Hi, I’m in the process of buying my first leather wallet ( Johnny the Fox) as my 40th birthday and also I plan to get one of my father that will get 70 years old. Congrats for that wallet :)!

      If you haven’t already pulled the trigger I would go with the fat Herbie. I love the Johnny the Fox but the fat Herbie just takes the cake! Both are excellent wallets thanks for commenting on the video😄

      @@LesSummer Hi no, I didn't buy them yet. My father saw the Fat Herbie and the Tony the Ant. So he is still thinking which one he wants. Can I ask you how is the fit with the Fat Herbie in the front pocket ? Is it too tall ? Thanks :P

    • @LesSummer
      @LesSummer  2 года назад

      @@sylvainalain6637 it is flat for sure, not too tall. The cash compartment is really really nice for the fat herbie. I carry my wallet front pocket all the time and I’m quite comfortable. What’s nice with the fat Herbie is because it is wider you always know it’s there, but it’s not an annoyance.

  • @BC08
    @BC08 2 года назад

    For back pocket carry I think the Fat Herbie is the best wallet form factor out there because you can carry 8-16 cards and it’s only about 1/2 thick.
    Thinner than Johnny the Fox and pretty much all traditional bi-folds, thinner than their own Tony the Ant even.

    My cheap superman wallet was not as invincible as the man of steel and normal daily use was its Kryptonite. It lasted about a decade but since has started to literally fall apart. Everytime I use it flecks of blue VINYL (🤢🤮) and red thread fall to the counter almost as if my wallet has dandruff so it can be a bit embarrassing to say the least. But the last straw was when the stitching on the card holders were no more which means my cards were falling out of the wallet in my pocket which was a real problem! So I did my research and decided to order a Johnny the fox in English tanned dublin with a monogram of my initials. I ordered it on the 14th it was sent out on the 17th and was supposed to arrive the 21st but arrived the 19th two days early! I also got 10% off because it was my first order. The wallet is $125 and with monogram, tax and shipping it came to $141 but due to the 10% discount the final price was $127 which was much appreciated. The packaging & presentation is awesome (love the wax seal of logo) and the wallet exceeded all my expectations. The color, grain, luster, texture and craftsmanship is a 10 out of 10! I absolutely love how the spine has lighter orange tones that really show off the beautiful grain pattern from the pull up effect. 😍 your wallets are immaculate and I can't wait to save up the money for a shell cordovan fat herbie but haven't decided if I'll get natural or color. Thanks for sharing your little masterpieces. Great video and I hope you have a wonderful day. Sorry about the long comment. ✌

      I love my Herbie. It is the the only wallet I need. If I were to do it all again I would have bought two of them. I like my Johnny the fox, but fat Herbie takes the cake! Glad you love your Ashland wallet, they are the best. Thank you for commenting and liking the video!! 😃

    New here, thoughts on their cheaper models around the 125 range? I'm tired of having cheap bifolds with faux leather that die after a year, genuinely looking at some fancy johnny's.

      If you don’t go cordovan, then get a chromexcel leather wallet from them! You will be very happy for what you get at the price range those are in. Good luck!
