      If I only would find some time to come to Treppendorf. Looks like I have to wait until someone in my aerea buys it. And, for sure, there are some musicians I know well who allways try out the newest gear. So my chances are big to check out a Black Spirit in no time.

    The Katana paved the way for this, and it's good to have competition. The Axe Fx and Kemper have shown us that modelers can in fact be big league tech, it's not unreasonable to have good modeling tech/ideas trickle down into lower priced gear...finally

    • @ThomannsGuitarsBasses
      @ThomannsGuitarsBasses  6 лет назад +1

      Hi, Kris here. You're absolutely right: in digital units, yes. But this thing is analog (the amp side of it) and that is a whole different story. The only digital on this amp are the effects and the switching. They figured out a way to recreate the way a tube power amp reacts to high volumes with an analog solid state design. Cheers!

    Looking at the Thomann site, this is 750 (in CHF) versus 515 for the PRS MT 15 which means almost 50% more than the MT15. If I want a top for rock / metal in the practice to small gig range, is it worth the additional price? Also does it come with a replacement "Feet" because in the back they look a bit small-ish if you want to place the head on top of a box with top mounted handle.

I own a Grandmeister Deluxe 40 head, and a Hughes & Kettner Tube 50 amp combo. Both very great sounding and reliable amps. I don't really hear any difference in the tone, regarding it sounding any different than my Grandmeister Deluxe 40 amp, to justify buying this amp head.

    Off to a bad start, now I'll think of this amp as the H&K Bull Shit because of this video. It isn't the first trans amp to feel/play/sound like a tube amp and there are more than a few digital amps that are now comparable to tube amps and some might say superior to tube amps. The H&K BS200 might be a great example of a trans amp that is comparable to amps people love but the moment people need to resort to BS talk and trash talk the others who have come before or simply wont acknowledge them discredits this amp.

    For real man??What's the point of buying a transistor amp that costs this much? When you can buy a great tube amp with even less than that?! So yeah they designed an amp with more efficient feedback control (that is simply what it is, and it’s not rocket science, every engineer would know that)
    Marketing, marketing, marketing

    • @TheOfficialCaseMade
      @TheOfficialCaseMade 6 лет назад +4

      I bet when fuel injection came out, guys with carburetors said "it's just a fad, carbs are REAL fuel delivery". If you can get a similar (or the same, in this case) tone without tubes as you can with tubes, with a ridiculous amount of features, less weight, less operating expenses... Why make having tubes the deciding factor on whether or not it was a good amp. I mean hell, I feel like if H&K put some lightbulbs in the front that looked like tubes people wouldn't think twice about buying it and talking about how great it sounded. Buuut there's always that camp of snobs that can't imagine a world without tubes.

    • @gearaddict2644
      @gearaddict2644 6 лет назад +1

      You definitely didn’t get my point. I talked about the “mystery feedback control” and the fact that they are launching it as something that needs to be payed a lot, in order for you to have it. Yes I did compare it with a tube amp, since these amps came out to be more expensive because of the parts that are made off (true or not?). This is a transistor amp(that sounds great) so, it has way cheaper component (true or not?) and they are selling it as much as a tube amp would cost for the above reasons.
      Long story short, why pay for the price of a tube amp for a transistor amp that costs less?
      Cheers

    • @vivusbrydyr4039
      @vivusbrydyr4039 6 лет назад +1

      GearAddict yeah, you are actually right, obviously the price is so high because they are "the only ones" selling this "new" piece of technology. i actually remember seeing some amber amp half a year ago, that used the same technology (maybe some other one, but claimed to do just the same this new h&k does) and nobody noticed it, and then it disappeared. i think we all can expect that in the near future more companies will catch up and produce a lot more models, and then the prices might or might not go down, since they all can simply claim that the technology is expensive even though not being something exclusive anymore.

    Like all other HnK amps, the overdriven tones are harsh and brittle. Zero warmth in the low end. I bet this doesn't take pedals very well either, just like other HnKs. The cleans are decent enough, but why wouldn't anyone just get a SS fender amp (or a Roland) if they want good cleans. Or even a Princeton/hot rod with actual tubes.
    Can't see this amp being a game changer by any means. Especially at the price point. It does look pretty cool though.

    • @TravisCampbell6l6
      @TravisCampbell6l6 6 лет назад +2

      Felix Blacksher lol, you judge but obviously did not watch the video as they demonstrated pedals with the amp. Idiot comment.

    • @LeviBulger
      @LeviBulger 6 лет назад

      They demonstrated pedals with it, therefore it's good at taking pedals? That's your logic? I didn't say definitively that it's not good at it, just that it's probably not good at it based on other amps they make. Read reviews of HnK and mist would say that they don't respond well to a lot of pedals, especially gain pedals. Plus this is solid state, so inherently it's not gonna sound as good as a tube amp's natural compression. HnKs are great for novices, but there's a reason they are cheap. That said, this is not a very cheap amp for a solid state. Would take a Marshall DSL over this all day for the same cost. Or even a Princeton.

    • @TravisCampbell6l6
      @TravisCampbell6l6 6 лет назад +5

      Felix Blacksher That’s not what I said. Sound is subjective. I was just pointing out that you judged an amp without listening to it. I mean, they used a pedal with it maybe five minutes or so into the video. It’s typical tube snobbery I see from a LOT of people. “It’s solid state so it sucks” attitude. I have both SS and tube and like them both for various reasons but the “tubes or nothing” attitude is BS. This amp has built in Red Box IR output for direct recording and sounds amazing plus a shitload more features and it’s all analog. Don’t judge something based solely on it circuitry is all I’m saying. That tele sounded ridiculously good.

    • @East_Coast_Ghost86
      @East_Coast_Ghost86 6 лет назад +1

      Maybe you need to spend more time tweaking knobs for the sound you want. I've owned some pretty trick gear over the years. Engl Savage 120, Invader 2 30th anniversary edition, mesa's, orange's, etc. I now own a Triamp Mk3 and a Grandmeister deluxe 40. Certainly no lack of warmth, and they respond extremely well to pick attack. I dont have a huge pedal board, but do have some nice delays, reverb and drive pedals. No issues with either of my amps taking the pedals. H&K build the perfect amps for the working musician IMO.

      I've got a H&K Tube 50. It does take pedals pretty well. The cleans are nice and I can get a lot of great overdrive tones out of it. Since it's got a built-in power attenuater, you can dial in power amp saturation to your taste... Compared to my retubed Fender Hot Rod DeVille it does not sound as warm on the clean channel as long as you don't begin to drive the power amp. But on the edge it really sounds nice and the overdriven sounds are very usable.

    Jesus give those guys higher sofas, they look like infants trying to play adult guitars right up their chins.

    So it's just a solid state head? Really nothing new here guys. Every solid state amp claims "it has tube mojo", etc. It sounds ok for what it is, but not exactly game-changing.

      Did you check our comparison with the H&K GrandMeister?
