Don't forget thateven a factory new lathe needs to be "leveled" to prevent bed twist and resultant inaccuracy/taper/etc. That's a precision machine and deserves to set-up correctly for best results

He will.
Yes your next video should be turning a test bar. I'm jelly!
Did you think he wouldn't level it unless you posted this comment? Lol. Have you not seen his videos? He checks EVERYTHING for level & square.
@@gtogreg2811 yes,but does he have precision levels to accurately set the machine is what is being asked here. You don't use a 4ft Stanley to level a machine.
Sweet score on the new machine! Looks like its cutting good. FYI< you may already know this, but if you are not able to break the chip, and yoru getting long stringy ones, you can bump your feed rate up one notch (faster feed) to get it to break the chip.
correct, exactly when i was thinking when i saw the curls. Those stringy curls can be quite shitty, especially when your chuck/vise or material grabs them en takes the curly stringy bundle around and around.....
Hey Jim that’s a nice size lathe , you will be able to do a wide range of projects, you do a lot of rearranging and working in your garage you might want to think about getting a set of machinery skates once you have them you will use them to move all sorts of things a round the shop . The older we get we have to work smarter.
i think u nailed it. we need a custom diy machinery skate build video set.
Lathes are great tools, you should get a quick change tool post setup. They make tool changes and setting up new tools a breeze. Even the chinese tool posts work great, and they are very affordable.
Nice to treat yourself to new toys once in a while. I've been known to drop a chip or two, so have fun, go slow and be safe. I also have to say that stack of amplifiers for welding is very impressive. Are they all different? Stay well.
That's a nice looking lathe; congratulations on your purchase! Two things you might want to do. First , give yourself more room to the left of that head stock bore. The second thing is buy or borrow a high precision machinist level to level your lathe before the bed begins to take on the contour of your garage floor.
Congrats Jimbo. Now begins the never ending quest for tooling. Always fun to open a new package of tooling for the lathe or mill.
you've damaged the underside of your machine just because you're lazy. Today, after 3 years, you have a lot of rust down on your "new" machine. Congratulations Mr Jimbo.
Nice piece of machinery. I would have guessed it cost more. Happy turning.
...дети так не довольны новой игрушке, как доволен новый хозяин....
Поздравляю с отличным приобретением 😻😻😻.
Ждём новые видео 😸😸😸.
Привет 🇺🇸 с 🇷🇺!!!
May you have many happy hours of turning on that lovely machine!!
Beautiful lathe Jimbo
Wow, a new machine = new toy. 😁
I like your workshop, uncle Jimbo. It'd be Disneyland to me.
a subscriber from Thailand.
Congratulations on the new lathe, Jimbo! Now, for the QC tool post!
Thank you for sharing the cost of purchasing that machine. Now I know how much I need to save lol
Congrats Jimbo, that’s a really nice piece of kit. As we say here, well wear..
One Jimbo to another: Get that turret handle pointing back at you AND you should have a file on that sharp corner before spindle stops! You'll learn, Congrats bro!
Nice machine! Excellent job moving it into its location in your shop.
Congrats always fun getting new equipment!
Congrats on the lathe - looks great, man. I'm in the process of packing and moving my shop and home from Vegas to Ohio, and then eventually Tennessee. I have a 13x30 gear head lathe and wanted to see how yours came from the factory. Bought a 53' dry van trailer and a 3k forklift for the move. The forklift is great - you will find so many uses for it, if you get one.
Great Job Jimbo, I have been looking for a lathe about this size. You may have just sold a lathe for Kent.
I would use it to take out the trash 🗑 lmao looking at the neighbor's like what the can was heavy hahahah
It's about time to expand the ol Garage
Thats a huge upgrade, and you bought U.S.! congratulations Jimbo!
Nah, that's a Chinese-made lathe for sure, but if it's made to US specifications it should be good
lookin good ,Been there done that to. In 2016 new 14x40 Bulton with DRO.. New machine smell. later from Texas.
Dam, Jimbo's going big time!
finally you have a lathe, I thought that I will not get her anymore
Leveling?
Congratulations! New Machine!
from Sao Paulo/Brazil
Cool nice upgrade!
Поздравляю с обновлением в мастерской👍
I've also been wanting to buy another lathe. I've been seeing Kent USA's ads for a while now. Not exactly sure what I will get yet.
$8K seems like a lot but you'll spend more in tooling the first year. :) May all your chips break clean.
it's 9.5k$
Bonito torno amigo ese es mi sueño exelente Dios te siga ayudando 🙏
Jimbo congrats on the new tool in ur shop. Keep up the great videos and great work weld on my friend

Very nice lathe Jimbo
MUCHAS FELICIDADES GRAN EQUIPO PARA GRAN PERSONA COMO TU JIMBO SALUDOS
What are you doing with the smaller lathe you replaced this with? Enjoy watching when you post. Thank you for your varied content.
In the video he stated he was selling it. Not sure if he ever did or not.
Hey Jim... Been waiting for a video... Good to see you doing well... Great video
Поздравляю с приобретением!:)

I love lathe!
VERY GOOD VIDEO 😁👍

Nice lathe Mr. Jimbo.....how much for your old atlas lathe?? any idea yet
Parabéns você merece...
Congratulations
A lathe like that should have quick change tool post and tools. Search "250-111 Tool Post" , best lathe tool I ever bought, and cheap!
Great machine
Hope you and the family are keeping healthy jim, thats a great looking piece of machinery you got there💪
No doubt about it Christmas in July. Oh Yea.
That will make those Bench Dogs. I'll take a dozen.
early bes crismas im very happy fore you well donde i say hallo from mexicali mexico my friend y love your jobs
perfect..just waiting new project :)
Nice Machine but my space limits me t a 12" atlas which I restored.
Hello, did you have fire?
Looks great Jimbo, I'm in the market myself for a metal lathe. Was there a particular reason you went with a 13x40 lathe (instead of a 14x40 or 12x36)?
I have a 13x30. I don't turn anything long, so the 30" works for me, especially in a small shop, BUT, I have found myself wishing the swing was bigger - If I was buying one new, I'd look for a 16x40. Just my .02
Congratulations it's beautiful and very, very practical. You're so cute.
I'm looking for a lathe but I am a bit hesitant about these Chinese made units. I could go to 10K for a lathe and it would buy me a big Chinese machine, and it is tempting....brand new, all the bells and whistles including DRO, but the horror stories about Chinese worries me.
hi Ric, the lathe is not made in China, it's made in Taiwan
NICE
дед красавчик купил токарочку!
Cutting chips like Abom79 ;)
How much for that Atlas???
How much do you want for your old lathe?
How much are you selling your old lathe for?
I know this video is about a year old but I hope he didn't just leave it sitting on the concrete just like it is? As you are meant to make adjuustable hight feet (x6) for the lathe to sit on. As it needs to be leveled and checked it doesn't have any twist to it? As concrete floors are never level or flat. As if you don't do the leveling , the lathe won't machine correctly! 🤔
wow no discount?? dealers get a 20% discount, you should have gotten at least 10% off... Also is that a Taiwan built lathe of from their China factory... Regardless Kent has always been a good company to deal with...
Las cocas pues luego luego....jaja
💪
starą tokarkę poproszę w prezencie , będę w niebo wzięty
مبروك مكينت تور جديد
صحليكم عندكم فلوس بش تعمل الي تحبو
I guess you've never seen a gas bottle fall over and have the valve break off.
8k and no QCTP??!!!
Newer lathe moves to brushless motor.
Omg, please send me your old lathe
Good luck🇧🇭🇺🇸🇧🇭🇺🇸🇧🇭🇺🇸🇧🇭🇺🇸👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
How many bloody welders do you own?
These is absolutely no substitute for a forklift
The only problem I see is if you have a long piece that sticks out of the spindle , the compressor might be in the way. Beautiful lathe.
"$8000... a big expense for me..." Fell outta the chair on that one. You own a construction company and have a shop on the $1M+ residence. A little honesty goes a long way and the lathe along with pretty much every tool in Jimbo's Garage is more than likely a tax write-off.
Came across your channel while searching for a new 13x40 or 14X40 lathe for our shop and trying to get some honest real world insight on all of the different makes coming out of China these days so in case you're wondering, that's how we wound up here.
Do you really understand what a 'tax write-off' is? I love how the lay person always thinks big shops get machinery free because of tax write-off. Yes, you reduce your tax bill, but for sure the machinery is never free! Kudos Jim on a great lathe! Still hoping to see some nice videos on that.
Looks like my Chinese lathe .
