Make sure to flex the back foot up before taking it off the ice, or you'll end up like I did. Mid crossover, pick up back foot toe forward, toe pick chips ice, I dramaticaly fall forward with legs tangled and face plant the ice.
I hope you weren't hurt too badly. I'm sure it hurt hitting the ice tho! I think thats why its John's biggest pet peeve! Makes me nervous cuz I've almost falled forward as well.
@@pedecia I put everyone nervous because I'm usually training all by myself. But I really don't have money to pay for classes, here's pretty expensive and I'm already taking other classes so I'm doing what I can. 🤣😅 But I got badly injured last June and I'm still recovering and can't go to gymnastics. I sincerely hope you are doing well.
This method, demonstrating how to practice separately each component of forward crossovers, helps me tremendously. I would be grateful to see more videos from you. 2016, Boston, USA.
Your videos are great for casual skaters like myself who can't afford regular lessons! I'm learning a lot just from watching and memorizing the movements. Any chance you could do a video on different turns, particularly inside three turns and those turns skaters do before jumping a loop? (forgot the name) I'm always confused about the position of the arms and free leg when doing those. There don't seem to be many videos on RUclips detailing steps and turns, apart from outside 3 turns maybe.
Great video. I'm 50 and started taking lessons (amidst a bunch of kids and younglings...), and it's helpful to go over these moves. a Feedback on the video, the image is clear and you explain, but the echo on your voice and background music got a bit distracting. However, I found it immensely helpful (even having a teacher) and looking forward to other videos.
I'm taking my good friend skating tonight and this is only his second time skating. I've been skating for two years now, but I just wanted to watch this to know how exactly to explain crossovers. Hope that makes sense.
Really, really enjoy your details in all training videos, especially the flex foot for F-crossover; I would strongly encourage you to do more demonstrations of the final correct skating technique after all instruction. Please demo in real speed more! Thanks so much for all your help.
Another great video! I don't see enough support for adult skating classes from most rinks. Is it because there aren't enough demands? :( I am the only adult skating in the middle of kids....
hello! I’m a beginner skater and I have no idea why but crossovers are so difficult for me. So right now my coach makes me do a half swizzle pump into a crossover, but I just cannot do it. Idk if I’m just scared of crossing over and tripping. I try so hard to bend and lean in towards the circle but I just cannot do a crossover! If any of you have had the same problem or if you guys have tips please leave them down below!!
I had the same problem too, but I can finally do crossovers! Here are some tips: 1. You need to trust yourself, and have more confidence to start with. 2. As a warm up, practice your edges (inside and outside) so that you get a sense of balance. 3. While not gliding, practice crossing over one foot to the other.
Face and hold onto the wall, practice lifting your feet over the other feet, left over right one circle around rink, right over left another one circle around the rink, repeat until you dont need to look at your feet while crossing, then go do away from wall.
I am an Adult figure skater who has only been skating for 3 years and have had a coach for the past 2 years. Forward crossovers are very simple. But as I gain speed on my crossovers, I use my toe pic when I push. Im very aware of the correct way to do this, but I still end up using my toe pic and not the inside edge when pushing. How can i stop myself from doing this as I gain speed on forward crossovers?

Same for me yesterday but I was quick enough to protect my face with my hands... I gave some heart attack to the trainers there watching....

THINICE on 4:46 , are your left foot touching the ice?

Thank you!! Today I just mesmerized my course friends all standing by the side while I was doing circles and circles with forward crossowers!!! :-)
Love these videos. I'm currently taking lessons but you explain it soooo much better. Thank you!

I’m sooo excited because I’m about to start learning my axel💖

Bunny hop, arabesque and two foot spin tutorial
I can't do the under push. The blade just sticks in the ice. Could my blade be to sharp? Thanks.
Is this whitley bay?
Yeah it's Whitley Bay
Would you be able to do axel tips and tutorials it would help me soo much I would really appreciate it 😊
Logan Hinchcliffe Yes, I will be doing an axel video. Just trying to work through all the jumps.
I had an ice skating excursion and I think I broke my ass... 😂
Ah yes, this is where staying at home brought me: Tyler Joseph teaching me how to figure skate even though there are no ice rinks open
Im not sure who Tyler Joseph is. Should I?
@@xxXThinIceXxx Oh no not really, he's just the singer of Twenty One Pilots and I had the first impression of you quite looking like him! hahaha
@@sofieflowerknight9259 haha, quite like their music 😊 I’ll take that as a compliment.
Great video. Can you make some in English? ;)
Haha sorry, I didn’t think my accent was that strong 😂
I can do forward cross overs but not backward I'm working on it :p
What ice stadium is that ??
Whitley Bay
Hahahhah I John I’m Annabel lol
Is he drunk or is it just the accent? I’m just curious lol.
It's the accent of course. Sounds.. Scottish?
