No better way to test out a new set of wheels than on one giant rock garden. This ride wrung me out! Big ole climb and a WICKEDLY fun descent. I’m glad Kyle told me to add a few extra PSI for this meat grinder.

“You don’t own your fitness you only rent it so you have to keep up your payments” - jeez Brian how inspiring are you! That’s such an awesome statement!!!
Yeah… but it’s from JJ Watt

Welcome to Santa Barbara! That's our local favorite! I did a few youtube videos of our local trails and people hated the bell. Hard to explain it's a way of life here. As a hiker also, we love it.
The GoPro effect couldn't hide the steepness of some descents there. Beautiful trail . Gotta try this one. Great job B ! 💯
Cold springs isn't steep, but the chunk is something else. Tunnel trail next door is on another level though!
@@rezenclowd3 Thanks.. nooo...I wouldn't want it any steeper than this first trail. Last thing anyone needs is a trip to Cottage Hospital. 😏
Hey Brian, you inspired me to get a Trek Marlin 5 MTB and get out on the singletrack, thank you.
Yep, that’s what I commented on the Live feed that the Ibis hubs aren’t very loud at all. They are holding up well also, mine have 2 years of riding and still great!
Man, I was on this trail 40 yrs ago, back then we had no front or rear shocks but luckily we were still light weight and strong. Nice video.
Can't believe how many sketchy areas next to sheer cliffs there are on that trail. Those old crappy rim brakes only slowed us down so much, especially during the wet months.
That's pretty amazing! I can't imagine doing these trails on rigids!
love the camelbak chill podium bottles w/ the mud caps, keeps the cow & horse poop off your drink.
Thats a challenging trail. I've done it a few times. You can easily fly off a cliff on this trail. It ain't no joke . Respect on you riding it ! There are more trails in SB though !
My camel back is my back protection and has saved me many times otb. Will never ride without it!
Who knew California had its own Portal Trail!
(Mr. Toads might qualify too. I'm sure there are others.)
Maybe gloves next time??? Looks like a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing, Brian!
Just did this trail over the weekend… all I gotta say is Brutal but I want more!
Great video! The ride looked like a lot of fun but that bell sound was driving me crazy.
I am pretty sure the guide was glad, to be able to go as fast as he did knowing you were up to it. Love this one, its like an analogy on success in life with the guy at the foot of the hill with all the inspiration but not fitness or energy. No Pain, No Gain is quite Real!
I love biking on hills bkxc because it is fun to see all of the mountains up higher and i love you guys more 😂❤🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
Thanks so much!
EXCELLENT riding and trails...the adrenaline must have been flowing. Love the bell...
Light rims definitely accelerate a little faster. And one thing I notice is they're quicker steering, too. I just got to A/B two identical bikes save one had aluminum and one carbon rims. Huge difference.
Great riding, too. That's one gnarly trail. (And thanks for using the bell - keeps good relations with the hikers here in SB.)
Are you gonna dare try Tunnel?
The rocky part looks amazing
Absolutely stunning looking trail
What a trail! There is definitely more % of mountainbikers, who would love to ride this, including me :)
Lovely epic ride nice scenery
'the only way to grow up is pain' nice phrase dude and thank you so much for these videos I enjoy them a lot!
Quick tip: Cramping is more of an effect of dehydration. That's why a proper electrolyte drink is valuable on intense efforts.
Working my way to doing this trail and tunnel which I used to do somewhat frequently when I was a teenager
Good intel on the ibis wheel-set. Glad you survived to tell the tale!
Man that chunky gets me craving riding season. Love the chunk
Try Klean Kanteen SS water bottles. I have never had a problem with mine. And to get away from the sticky, sugary mess try LMNT. Lemon Habanero for the win!
If you get cramps from not eating - try tailwind. 100 calories a scoop, about 300 calories a bottle. You can sip it the entire climb and stay fueled.
Chunky Monkey Fun. Plus the "Land of sketchy switchbacks." My kind of trail. Looked like a blast.
Brian. For real. Get a bib. They're amazing.
Connect the auxiliary light with a relay, so that they switch on automatically when you use high beam 👍🏻 ☀️ ☀️
It was like you were on a bucking bull when you were flying down those rocks lol
I rode that trail last year but it was too hot to do the whole climb (I was out of shape) but it was still really cool!
I walked most of this. I couldn't take the risk. Going back with a full face helmet for another try soon.. !!!
That was a CRAZY trail!
I am so glad I live in a place where I don’t have to worry about riding with a bell…but it was awesome not hearing some obnoxious hub in a YT MTB video -but the bell kinda ruined that! Looks like a great trail!
🔥 🔥 🔥 Love that trail you got Tunnels and Knapps Castle 🏰 to the right of that some more fun
Why dont you make stainless steel water bottles and fix 2 problems?
Great idea, Hope he listens that's got to be an easy fix, no other bottle on the market has a cap problem like that. 🥴
Amazing looking trail
Bell story time. In the south of France many riders attach bells on their saddle rails during hunting season so that they don't get shot at !!!!
That place looks awesome!!
awesome job taking those downhill turns.
Looks fun.
I've been using stainless travel coffee mugs for years. They're coke bottle shaped so fit in bottle cages. No leaks, but you do have to press a button for liquid to come out. They've kept my drinks cold on summer rides in Phoenix, if you need a testimonial.
What did I win?
Wow, nice ride! Put the suspension, wheels and rider to the test.
Hi,
1)Can you tell about the hero 10 settings
2)How to secure go2 mic without dropping
Thank you

Sick thumbnail!
I hope you go to heaven when you fly off that cliff! No way man, not me!!! No way I could stomach that exposure!😆
Hello Brian, Congrats again on Trail 1. Enjoyed the video. BTW, what is the length of your handlebars??? Thanks...
geeee that was arm pounding hahaha
Absolutely awesome views along with the ride . I woulda had sore hands ! LOL!
You gotta do the Tunnel trail to Jesusita. Epic chunk!
Why are we replacing our modern plastic bottles once a year? Just fear of any plastics or odor?
Great video....that trail and scenery are awesome!
you're my favourite RUclipsr.... I always love to watch your videos..... ❤️😍😍🚴
Super cool, was rocky, did your wrists hurt? Beautiful scenery.
Dude! You really nailed that thumbnail!! 😂
Love the thumbnail.. nailed it 👊🏻📸
Try drinking or eating beef root during the week and before you start riding . It will give you a huge performance boost , longer endurance ,stops cramps ,longer time to exhaustion , increase focus .
You can drink as a juice or a punch. Do some research on beef root
That was a great video. That place looks like a dream. I need to leave Nebraska lol.
Rad dude, that’s was an awesome ride!!
Awesome jank!!
Nice trail with some technical parts..
Great video. Great riding! 🙌
Would you rather ride a DVO suspension or a Rockshock suspension on your Ripmo?
Romero to Cold Springs & Tunnel, that's why I ride
I not how those leg cramps can be. I once had cramps on both my quads. Every time I put the power down, my quads lock up. I would literally sit down and wait until the cramp pass…
BKXC breakfast cereal - Hurtful Chunk™
My backyard, yeww!
My backyard trail. So much chunk.
I recently got the ripmo and I have noticed that compared to my race face vault hubs the ibis hubs have more drag. Going to replace the wheels soon anyways but I don’t know if it’s just me.
Do you upscale your recordings? On your website, it says you record at 2.7k @ 30fps and RUclips has it in 4k. Is there a reason you would upscale your video?
Carbon rims accelerate faster to pedal force, but alloy rims roll faster, especially downhill. If I get my fatbike ripping on a downhill, you really gotta smoke those brakes.
Trail One should make stainless steel bottles!
The best part is: He's a healthy man with the feel of nature and is not riding one of those GAE E-Bikes...
My kind of chunk!
Just rode Tunnel trail with my hardtail shit was bumpy blew a tire had to slow down after that
Wow! Didn’t even know about this trail and I’m just two cities away?! Brian if you’re still in town, head south to Moorpark and hit up Space Mountain. I think you’ll dig it 👊🏽
He has a Few videos of him riding rosewood and space mtn
I have a couple guys from TO/Moorpark that come up and we shuttle Cold Springs, Tunnel, Knapps, Arroyo Burro. Usually do Knapps 3-4 times at end of day....8am-sunset shuttle day!

does the lid from the plastic bottle fit on the metal water bottle?
Have you ever considered honey for a cramp preventing/reducing snack?
that trail was CHUNK CHUNK CHUNK. that exposure though holy smokes. that cow bell on the dudes bike would drive me nuts, no thanks. thanks for the adventure
I thought they were chased by an ice cream van 😉
@Patrick H lol. Then stopping would have worked better. Ice cream all around.
Looking at your carbon handlebar you sell. curious what length you ride at and rise?
That's where Tommy and his Wreckless Riders crew did their last video. They always shuttle up though.
So everyone made it in Brazil, hahaha. If you do not have a wall with eletric fance over it, robers will do the party with your house :/
Welcome to Santa barbara
This is the first time I’ve heard this man get leg cramps.
I'm on of the 1% - This looks like Pyrenees just a tad more dry!
Have you done bark park in Calabasas?
Gotta check out arroyo Burro if you havent very fun trail in Santa Ynez behind SB
He just did that in the last few weeks. Has a video of it
Is this enduro or XC? Great content as always!
Brian rides a Ibis Ripmo. It's All Mountain.
Brian, what GoPro are you using? Cheers!
If your tire psi is higher your rolling resistance could be lower
Those rear ibis hubs are no bueno IME. Engagement is terrible and bearings blew out in the first year.
Ting-a-ling-a-ling ting-a-ling-a-ling hahaha that would get annoying... But do see the use for it on dual purpose trials
That mtb bell is the 3rd leading cause of suicide in the US. That’s the true HELL in this video.
You mean specialized bottles 😂
Fellow evil wreckoning owner, bike just shreds your buddy knows the way to roll.
Not sure how you ride this without gloves haha
Maybe its just me but i feel like i fatigue way faster withoit them.
Which tires u have?
@Text Me On Telegram @Official_BKXC what?
More magnesium supplements for no more calf cramps, or other cramps. It works.
I got major arm pump just watching this
No gloves..?! Awesome trail! 🙏🏼
