Every song is amazing! Huge names make some of their best tracks ever. One of the best comps of 2020. I liked how you freaked out on this comp. I hope this record label gets more recognition!
The oolacile track is my favorite just cause of the musicality of it but that phonon track tho

More than music
That Voltra track really sounds like something straight out of Xilent's We_Are_Dust Album, one of my favorite albums, so I have high praise for it.
Voltra style sound like Xilent, is so crazy!
When I was editing the video I noticed that as well, was pissed off I didn't notice at first!

This comp is absolutely insane, every song is at least a 9/10 to me, I’m really looking forward to more from Halcyon. My favourite tracks were BVSSIC’s, Leotrix’s and Voltra’s
Absolute jawdropper of a compilation and legitimately hard to pick a favourite.
You can feel the difference in the air with the vibe of peoples reactions - it's like we've been in the desert for weeks and someones just dunked an evian on our heads
Dead heat between Conic Sections, Instance and Disgust for me, but I fucking adore the lot of them :)

Good god, what an amazing compilation. I'll quickly run through my thoughts on the tracks in this comp.
SVDDEN DEATH - UTAH:
A really interesting tune from SVDDEN DEATH here, the uplifting melodies on the track are very good at establishing the mood of the track, quite a beautiful tune. The vocals are alright, although I'm not sure they hit the marks they should. There are also some aspects of the production that don't work for me and cause some parts to be a bit messy. However in spite of these issues, there's a real charm to the track overall which makes it very, very enjoyable.
Voltra - Instance:
This track is absolutely brilliant, so much spontaneity and creativity to the track, and the sound design is also very pleasing. The melodies in the off-drops are also stellar, creating a stellar almost cyberpunk-esque mood. The track also stays interesting throughout, with loads of great switch-ups. I will say that stylistically it sounds quite a bit like Xilent, which does make it feel a tiny bit less fresh, however the sheer technical prowess on the track absolutely makes up for it.
Oolacile - Dreams (Data):
This is a pretty good song. The melodies are my favourite part of the track, very full of life and personality, overall the track just creates a very interesting vibe. The ideas are also quite interesting. I do have two major issues with the track however, the first one being that the composition of the track overall feels quite messy and directionless, making it hard to follow the track, and not in a good way. The other is an issue you brought up, and that's that the sound design, while very high quality, gets heavily abrasive and does throttle most of the impact of the melodies.
Leotrix - Emoboy303 (SIDE):
This one is a very pleasant and refreshing track. The sound design is very good, as is per usual for Leotrix, I always love some bleepy-bloopy sounds. Where the track really shines is in the melodies, which are truly awe-inspiring and euphoric, really makes me feel like I'm soaring through the sky. The composition is stellar as well and really elevates the melodies. Only part I'm not huge on is the vocals. Overall a very brilliant tune
Akeos & I7 - Angel Portal:
I love the vibe on this track a lot, very surreal and magical. The sound design is absolutely amazing, it's very digital yet also very earthy (love those growly parts!), and the melodies tap into the surreal vibe of the track very well. The idea is pretty simple, but the simplicity is executed very well, the composition and overall dynamic are really well done.
phonon - Conic Sections:
Good god, this track is absolutely incredible! Much like Polyriddim, the melodies, sound design, composition, and general note placement are absolutely top-notch, creating a really bouncy, sharp, and energetic track. The dynamic between the sounds is absolutely incredible as well, there isn't a moment where it feels like the song slows down. And that neuro drop, my god... The only downside to me (if you can call it that) is that the intro sounds a lot like Polyriddim's intro, I would've preferred a different style of intro, but that's a HUGE nitpick.
Cripplingg - Colors:
I really like the off-drops on this track, they're very surreal and off-kilter which I really enjoy. As for the drops, the sound design is very good and the composition and overall dynamic is very good. However, I do find it to be a bit simple, without too much to grab onto. Out of all of the songs on this comp, this one has the least unique things going for it, unfortunately. Even in spite of that, it's still an alright tune for sure, and what it does it does pretty well.
BVSSIC - Disgust:
Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes. The intro is brilliant and chilling with some really great vocals, and the drops are so colourful and dynamic, with loads of impact and overall it progresses so well. The switch-up is amazing as well, and in general the track is super creative. I just love this track so much, BVSSIC really can't do any wrong.
Overall, while I don't know if I like it as much as everyone else does given that Dreams and Colors didn't fully hit the mark for me, the good on this compilation is so good and puts so much of the current dubstep scene to shame, both creatively and polish-wise. Halcyon has a bright future going forward as a label, even if the whole future riddim """genre""" is essentially melodic riddim with a fancy name.
I'm hoping that this comp inspires more producers to go this route

My favourite is Utah by Svdden Death. I just love that he is using his own voice for the first time, and I adore the vocals, as I also really enjoyed Getter's Album Visceral. I also love his take on the more melodic/futuristic sounds.
The compilation itself is very pretty, insane producers with lots of potential.
Edit: There's actually no song I disliked
I agree but the only thing I don’t like is how getter received so much hate and Svdden Death is getting praised.

Apart from Angel Portal which is easily my least favourite, I genuinely have a hard time ranking everything else. This is easily one of the most ambitious and well crafted comps of the year.
Everyone who likes bass music should definitely follow this label.

honestly, disgust is my favorite, and taking into account how much of an akeos fan i am, that's a big surprise but a welcome one for sure. all the songs on this comp are frickin amazing i can't wait to see where halcyon goes from here on out

To be honest, having very few artists is a great idea for a comp. its more quality over quantity unlike Subsidia
I was actually surprised to see the Assassin's Creed-esque logo in the bottom left corner of the album artwork.
I like that his bracelets are the colors of the cover art
I loved this compilation, it brings the melodic side of riddim out from a lot of unexpected artists, and it just made me so happy.

The Leotrix tune blew me the fuck away. Even the key he chose alone is so different than pretty much any edm track i’ve heard, and the melody and sound design are so unique. I could not be happier with this comp.

What a godly comp
I think im in love. For so long dubstep and its subgenres for me at least have been completely lacking in the melody and creativity which is present here. Dont think Ive really heard stuff like this, at least not so many tracks at once in a comp, since like early 2017 maybe. It really fills me with happiness and almost hope that we will start to see a change for the better in the scene. Maybe finally artists will start adding sole to their tracks rather then them just feeling mass produced. Its the details and melodies that really get me tbh. It just makes the song tell a proper story and gives it life. Instantly followed this label after watching this review and listening to the comp. Cant wait to see what else they have lined up. I also really hope these artists continue with stuff like this (I know some already are), and that this isnt just an experimental one off. Also hope that other artist follow suit. This really has given me a feeling of enjoyment that I havent really felt in ages from dubstep.
If you want some other dubstep this year that has that sense of soul, make sure to check out Nitepunk's EP, it's legit the best thing to happen to bass music in years.

Voltra's track was the best imo. It was like Condukta if he still made music ten years later.
I'll have to agree with the visceral sounding utah, fits pretty well on the track imo.
I wasn't the biggest fan of "UTAH" due to it being a weird mix of melodic (kinda) and Svdden Death's style. Those don't really fit together in my opinion but it is still a good tune. The whole compilation is a very good start for these producers. You should react to the new Sable Valley Records compilation!

Dude Voltra - Instance might be the best dubstep intro I've heard since PhaseOne's Six Feet Deep, felt the exact same way about the whole electrical and futuristic feeling to it. Also Connor if you want to hear another intro with a similar emotion behind it check out Lchavasse - Lunar Abyss
It's not well produced and was made by an amateur at the time but it carries the same feeling production regardless
