Another BIG comp! What did you guys make of 'Reinforcements (Vol. 1)'? Which tracks are your favourites of the 12? Drop your thoughts in the comments! ⚔️💙
I was quite surprised by how well this comp turned out, honestly. There were only one or two I wasn’t quite a fan of, but everything else was quite good! If I had to pick favourites, though, I’d have to go with Shellak, Rundown and Bleepware
It is a very interesting comp. My favorite will go to the Ace Aura song only because I recently got back to melodic because of Au5 & Prismatic. All the other tracks were solid and well produced.
Thank you Connor for the review. The goal for this comp is to give a little spotlight to these up and coming artists. I appreciate you being honest, yet respectful with your opinions on the tunes. Can't wait put together more of these in the future!
I'm not gonna lie, there aren't many producers I dislike, but Automhate may be my least favourite guy who's been on Disciple multiple times. He has skill, I can't argue that, and I'm not saying he couldn't ever be good to me - but I just find all his tracks so painfully generic and uncreative, which is certainly a rare problem for me. I just switch off as I'm listening to him. I heard the entire EP he put on Disciple 3 times (I listen to all of them at least 3 times to give them all a chance, since sometimes I don't like it on the first listen), and I still can't remember how a single track from that EP went. Bring The Funk was a little better than that, it had some flavour to it - but it is a concept I've seen done before in dubstep, and he doesn't really go too far with the funk theme. It seems most people love his mastering style, which would explain a lot, but personally it sounds weak to me.
@@doublechindoge7 yeah but hes grown a lot, i know I'm replying 3 months later but his halycon ep was fantastic, so inventive and well produced but it still sounds so uniquely automhate. Dudes just getting better
In Glass Cannon that Hardstyle kick and the aggressive build up made me really hyped up and even though I like his sound so much, I feel like this song lacks a bit of energy.
It is about time some artists get some recognition and the production in this comp is proof that they deserve it. Nice to see some new faces that I'm coming back to for certain. It's so inspirational to me. Favourites from me: Platinum, Bring The Funk, Shellak, Rundown, Blee... I can't choose is what I'm trying to say. I agree with you with the percussion though.
I'm actually quite impressed with this compilation, quite a few interesting numbers on here and some really great talent on this thing. I'll give a few thoughts on each song. Platinum: The sound design here is quite good, I like dynamic and bounce of it, but the ideas here are pretty plain, nothing here that really stands out to me outside of the off-drops which do add a nice bit of contrast with the drops themselves. If only the drops didn't sound like something I've heard before. Bring The Funk: High energy, lots of personality and detail, good sound design, plenty of awesome switch-ups, not much else I could really ask for. Very good track. Zealot: I'm sorry, this just does not work for me. The ideas here are ridiculously dull, and there isn't much in the way of sound design to make up for how boring the drops are. The intro is brilliant though, if there's anything that Bainbridge does really well, it's those. Shellak: This one is simply nutty! The sound design is absolutely brutal, and there isn't a moment where the track lets up. The lead is easily my favourite part, such a great sound and it's used really well. Invaders: Eh, it's fine. The sounds, composition, and ideas really aren't anything special, but they do the job. This is definitely the most forgettable tune on here. Bloodthirsty: Jiqui's done far better in the past. The drops are alright, I like some of the ideas and sound design, but overall it's not something particularly crazy tbh. Rundown: This one is really great. I love the ideas on here, the energy of it is really great, and the sound design is really captivating. Not to mention the melodies in the song, which only add to the epicness of the entire thing. Neural Link: I really like the sound design on here, really detailed and sharp. The intro is amazing too, love the breakbeat drums in it. Bleepware: Absolutely brilliant! The sound design, composition, and ideas are just an absolute blast, so much going on and it doesn't get tiring for even a second. I think this might be my favourite song on this comp, I really don't have any complaints here. Glass Cannon: The off-drops are absolutely stellar here, and the sound design is classic Ace Aura, but I think the execution on the track could've been a lot better, which is a shame given how enthralling Ace Aura's ideas are. Doinks: I gotta agree with you, the second drop just doesn't work. Everything else on the track is really good, love the deep vibes of the first drop, and the intro was quite nice, but that second drop was so jarring and unnatural. Still a nice song overall. JuJu Man: I really, really like this one. Really fresh ideas and sound design, the classic dubstep vibes are brilliant, just a really fun song. Doesn't try to do a whole lot, but does what it does very well. So yeah, overall a pretty good comp. Some pretty lack-luster songs here but quite a bit of good here too. Glad to see some fresh talent on Disciple and even more glad that it's very good, I guess it just goes to show how stale Disciple's usual artists are getting.
Uhm, IDK, by some of the tracks I agree with you, but ¿Juju Man? I mean, The intro is pretty long, drop is repetitive, mix is bad, some of the parts are even O F F K E Y, the Doinks one is boring in general, second drop is unnatural while firt drop is just generic Freeform, but on the rest I agree
Ok, I gotta know what the deal is with Bleepware, I don't think it sounds particularly good - and I wouldn't even say it's particularly original. Well, the beginning of the drop is very nice, but the bass sounds like the sound created by distorting sine waves together - a sound typically made made for very specific frequency ranges and ratios - and as a result as they try to add variation they become messy and weak. I also didn't really like Doinks either, except the 2nd drop ironically - but to be fair, I do at least appreciate that track's attempts to be different.
By far my favorite thing to come out of Disciple in a long while. I'm used to only really clicking with half the tunes on offer from their compilations, but there's only a couple here I didn't get into. Even so, the worst on offer was decent, and when it shines, it really shines. Favorites of the bunch were Platinum, Rundown, and Zealot, really incredible sounds on show. Again though, everything was at least a 7/10.
Reinforcements Ranking: Overall, this was a really good compilation. The highs were high and the lows were not as low as compared to other disciple compilations. A lot of fresh ideas and talent in here, and I applaud everyone involved - even if I didn't like their tracks as much. Here are my personal rankings and thoughts: 1) Bleepware (9.7/10) A++ This is some gourmet shit right here. The sound design, atmosphere, flow, experimentation - they are sooo good. It surely is one of my favourite riddim tracks this year. Not much else to say. 2) Shellak (9.5/10) A++ When tearout music finds that perfect balance between being a clusterfuck and being simplistic - you get this. The sounds on the drops are absolutely massive, and can we just take a moment to reflect on how beautiful the intro, bridge, and outro are? The contrast they provide with the drop is outstanding. Tie: 3) Platinum (8.8/10) A+ The drops are a little bit of a let down, but everything else is golden. This track feels very well put together and the soundscaping is among the best in this entire compilation. I absolutely adore the intro and outro as well. Tie: 3) Bring the Funk (8.8/10) A+ Automhate executed the "funk" theme very well with this track. The way the instruments and the ideas work together is very engaging - though a little more experimentation would perhaps be welcomed. Loved the first and third drop more than the second and fourth. 5) Rundown (8.6/10) A+ I love the drops, and I love everything outside of them, but I feel like they don't work together as well as they could have, partly because of the fast buildup. Some flaws with the overall execution of their ideas and percussion, but this track is still really good. 6) Neural Link (8.2/10) A A very interesting, unique approach here. I like the erratic rhythm and glitchy sounds in this track, though they sometimes get too crazy for its own good. More polishing on this track and it would be excellent. 7) Glass Cannon (8.0/10) A I love me some colourful Ace Aura sound design, okay? Not his best work, but it's still quite solid in most areas and offers a fresh, different approach to melodic riddim. It's a fun listen, though it doesn't have that strong punch. 8) Zealot (7.4/10) B A different style for Bainbridge, and it somewhat pays off. More impact and not as generic as his previous work, but can't say that it blew me away. Overall, it's a decent riddim track that plays it quite safe. 9) Bloodthirsty (6.5/10) B- Incredible sound design in display here. However, the heavy emphasis on the drops' bass coupled with a lack of variation and melody makes this something that I wouldn't regularly return to. I imagine that this would kill at a live set, though. 10) Juju Man (6.3/10) B- As someone who doesn't really listen or like this kind of music, it has sure grown on me a little since my first listen. It's catchy, though repetitive both in structure and sounds. Not my ideal genre, but not too bad. 11) Invaders (5.5/10) C Considering how basic this old-styled riddim track is, especially in rhythm and character, I definitely like this more than I should. This track would have been very boring if it wasn't for the hypnotic sound design and the changes in the sounds throughout. 12) Doinks (4.7/10) C- I personally feel like this track lost the potential to be really good. The drops, especially the 2nd drop, don't fit well with the nice melancholic vibes in the intro and midsection. I also don't like that there's no outro - ended very suddenly. That being said, I still like some of the ideas and sounds in this, and it was a decent listen, overall.
I think my top three are 1. Bleepware 2. Doinks 3. Glass Cannon But with all the other tracks I agree I completely with what you said although I think juju man is a bit of a let down
I reckon this comp series will run along side the KOTR comps. Remember when the main Disciple label did the Reinforcements comps twice a year in 2015 and 2016, with the Alliance comps at the same time too. While the Alliance comps back then were smaller, I reckon they'll keep doing both concurrently. Reinforcements, if it's the same idea as what the main label ones were, are showcasing other up and coming dubstep artists that aren't on Round Table.
My thoughts: Platinum: after listening through a few times, this is definitely my favorite. Just really solid. 9/10 Bring the funk: the intro and final drop were really cool. The rest was alright. 6/10 Zealot: the cool sound design and switch-ups were able to keep me engaged throughout. Really cool tune. 8/10 Shellak: this sounds like what an old person must hear when they say "it's just noise." I know everyone else likes it but I really fucking hate this song. 2/10 Invaders: there's a way to do minimalist riddim well and this ain't it. 3/10 Bloodthirsty: cool sound design but doesn't know how to use it effectively. 5/10 Rundown: the drop blew my mind the first time I heard it. Really enjoy every part of this especially the trap outro. Might be tied with platinum. 9/10 Neural link: I would enjoy this way more if it weren't trying to dryfuck my ears. There's some really cool ideas but it completely unlistenable. 3.5/10 Bleepware: Same as bloodthirsty 5/10 Glass canon: classic ace. A solid track 7/10 Doinks: some cool ideas but bad execution. 4/10 Juju man: when I heard the part at 0:26 I was really excited because I thought it was the drop. The actual drop was pretty good. Really like the burial-esque drums. 6.5/10
To address the question you have on 0:30, If I remember correctly, it was said on the official Disciple Recs Discord server that Reinforcements was made as a compilation to promote up and coming producers in the Dubstep and Riddim scene. If this is true, then I don't think Knights of the Round Table is going to be going anywhere anytime soon.
dodge and fuski said "you cant use those , gotta use this shit one , just fucking signed ya mate ,plus ya ain't even done tune with ole virus syndicate "
This was a pretty good comp tbf. Better than I thought it would be honestly. Some great material (my favs are platinum, bring the funk, Shellak, rundown, and bleepware). Some tracks that are just good (sound design is cool, but I'm not captivated by the drop arrangements/and or the production is muddy. As well as some stuff I find really mediocre. With that being said, there is very little here that is bad or just straight up doesn't work. Good range of artists and styles too.
Hey Connor, I made my first track (its more like a demo) yesterday and uploaded it. It took 6 hours to make this demo but I would REALLY like you to take a look at it from your reflective perspektiv, because it helps alot! Its style is I would call Lofi Techno with elements from the track raf by asap rocky
I liked this compilation as a whole but at this point I don't even know what to expect of the "new talent" anymore. There were some tunes I would have liked if I would have heard it a year ago but maybe its just me. I'm just searching for something really fresh and I think artists like NVADRZ has it. I would really fucking like Voltra to get some recognition tho he's mind blowing
liked it but im a little burnt out on these tunes because i was grinding hyperscape and had my xbox playing dubstep and xbox youtube likes to repeat itself
@@sweetnezz74 I thought Akeos too but the others are good shouts as well. It has definite similarities, but tbh anything of that ilk that is well-produced, I'm all over it because it's so god damn rare
Sound like a broken record about the snare thing...... I think you should look more into this style of music and if we lay out drums.... Teadout style dubstep would be more likely to have a HUGE snare. Blows mind how you call the cleanest songs, weak if percussion LMAO
@@guillaumegagnon7049 Do you genuinely think it's personal taste? You don't think one type of percussion can be objectively better than another? Some percussion simply doesn't elevate what's on top enough, whilst others does. The clearest thing to my ear whether percussion works or not, can tell straight away and shapes my enjoyment of the music. If the percussion falls flat, the idea doesn't have the desired force and impact. You get what I mean? Would love to know what you think

The drops are a little bit of a let down, but everything else is golden. This track feels very well put together and
the soundscaping is among the best in this entire compilation. I absolutely adore the intro and outro as well.
Tie: 3) Bring the Funk (8.8/10)
A+
Automhate executed the "funk" theme very well with this track. The way the instruments and the ideas work
together is very engaging - though a little more experimentation would perhaps be welcomed. Loved the first and third drop more than the second and fourth.
5) Rundown (8.6/10)

I love the drops, and I love everything outside of them, but I feel like they don't work together as well as they could
have, partly because of the fast buildup. Some flaws with the overall execution of their ideas and percussion, but this track is still really good.
6) Neural Link (8.2/10)

A very interesting, unique approach here. I like the erratic rhythm and glitchy sounds in this track, though
they sometimes get too crazy for its own good. More polishing on this track and it would be excellent.
7) Glass Cannon (8.0/10)
A
I love me some colourful Ace Aura sound design, okay? Not his best work, but it's still quite solid in most areas
and offers a fresh, different approach to melodic riddim. It's a fun listen, though it doesn't have that strong punch.
8) Zealot (7.4/10)
B
A different style for Bainbridge, and it somewhat pays off. More impact and not as generic as his previous
work, but can't say that it blew me away. Overall, it's a decent riddim track that plays it quite safe.
9) Bloodthirsty (6.5/10)
B-
Incredible sound design in display here. However, the heavy emphasis on the drops' bass coupled with a lack of
variation and melody makes this something that I wouldn't regularly return to. I imagine that this would kill at a live set, though.
10) Juju Man (6.3/10)
B-
As someone who doesn't really listen or like this kind of music, it has sure grown on me a little since my first
listen. It's catchy, though repetitive both in structure and sounds. Not my ideal genre, but not too bad.
11) Invaders (5.5/10)
C
Considering how basic this old-styled riddim track is, especially in rhythm and character, I definitely like this
more than I should. This track would have been very boring if it wasn't for the hypnotic sound design and the changes in the sounds throughout.
12) Doinks (4.7/10)
C-
I personally feel like this track lost the potential to be really good. The drops, especially the 2nd
drop, don't fit well with the nice melancholic vibes in the intro and midsection. I also don't like that there's no outro - ended very suddenly. That being said, I still like some of the ideas and sounds in this, and it was a decent listen, overall.

See what you're saying, interested to see what happens going forward
Listen to NVADRZ remix of tisokis: see you again. If you like those alien sounding noises 👀
That remix is amazing; Best of the remix album
My thoughts:
Platinum: after listening through a few times, this is definitely my favorite. Just really solid. 9/10
Bring the funk: the intro and final drop were really cool. The rest was alright. 6/10
Zealot: the cool sound design and switch-ups were able to keep me engaged throughout. Really cool tune. 8/10
Shellak: this sounds like what an old person must hear when they say "it's just noise." I know everyone else likes it but I really fucking hate this song. 2/10
Invaders: there's a way to do minimalist riddim well and this ain't it. 3/10
Bloodthirsty: cool sound design but doesn't know how to use it effectively. 5/10
Rundown: the drop blew my mind the first time I heard it. Really enjoy every part of this especially the trap outro. Might be tied with platinum. 9/10
Neural link: I would enjoy this way more if it weren't trying to dryfuck my ears. There's some really cool ideas but it completely unlistenable. 3.5/10
Bleepware: Same as bloodthirsty 5/10
Glass canon: classic ace. A solid track 7/10
Doinks: some cool ideas but bad execution. 4/10
Juju man: when I heard the part at 0:26 I was really excited because I thought it was the drop. The actual drop was pretty good. Really like the burial-esque drums. 6.5/10
Thank you for the kind words on Shellak :D
@@mylkymusic2986 for what it's worth, everyone else seems to like it. Just isn't for me I guess.
this round table release has to be one of the best of the year tbh
Which tune of the 12 is your pick?
To address the question you have on 0:30, If I remember correctly, it was said on the official Disciple Recs Discord server that Reinforcements was made as a compilation to promote up and coming producers in the Dubstep and Riddim scene. If this is true, then I don't think Knights of the Round Table is going to be going anywhere anytime soon.
Ite cool, interested as to what they do exactly going forward
I really wish rundown had better transitions into the build up but the drops and intro were sick. I think bring the funk was my favorite overall.
dodge and fuski said
"you cant use those , gotta use this shit one , just fucking signed ya mate ,plus ya ain't even done tune with ole virus syndicate "
Shoutout the homie Mylk!
He's really been proving himself lately
This was a pretty good comp tbf. Better than I thought it would be honestly. Some great material (my favs are platinum, bring the funk, Shellak, rundown, and bleepware). Some tracks that are just good (sound design is cool, but I'm not captivated by the drop arrangements/and or the production is muddy. As well as some stuff I find really mediocre. With that being said, there is very little here that is bad or just straight up doesn't work. Good range of artists and styles too.
cripplingg is definitely an upcoming BIG talent, fukin ay
Hey Connor, I made my first track (its more like a demo) yesterday and uploaded it. It took 6 hours to make this demo but I would REALLY like you to take a look at it from your reflective perspektiv, because it helps alot! Its style is I would call Lofi Techno with elements from the track raf by asap rocky
IG DM me it!
Man, what is it with you and percussion?
I want it to sound good :)
Question for Nawtystep: Which dubstep track has the best snare that you've heard? Since you are so critical of them (and I am too), I am just curious!
Think Voltra's gonna be one to trail his own path without labels to be honest. It isn't really label music that he makes, it goes beyond that
Please review Virus Syndicate's Too sick EP, just came out today!
Platinum took me off guard, personally I loved the snare but the thicker the better
I want to see what are tracks you think do the percussion and snares the way you like
KLOWN
Note to self: percussion
Are you going review the new competition of odio records 5
bainbridge is the irl homie lets gooo
liked it but im a little burnt out on these tunes because i was grinding hyperscape and had my xbox playing dubstep and xbox youtube likes to repeat itself
I think I’m the opposite,I don’t like too round snares ,nor the high pitch trap snare.
shellak broke my neck
Perplexed [MUSIC VIDEO] (Feat. Katari) (Prod. Novell Bell)
You should review this ‼️
I have your chair at my grandparents house...it is very comfy
18:38 MY WORD....
I thought he would say it but bleepwere sounds like it was just stolen from akeos’ library 👀
How is this different then the regular knights of the round table?
It's pretty hard to choose my favorites
🙂
I’m just waitin for T. rex to insult Bainbridge
Personally, I thought Neural Link was WAY too muddy
That more hip hoppy snare is the new style I feel you just aren’t a big fan of that style.
Unpopular opinion: I would have liked Bleepware if it didn't remind me so much of Aweminus or Hukae
It sounds like Akeos?
@@sweetnezz74 I thought Akeos too but the others are good shouts as well. It has definite similarities, but tbh anything of that ilk that is well-produced, I'm all over it because it's so god damn rare
My reaction to the Helasex & MYLKY track were 100% the same as yours 💙💦
Just an absolute mind-melter really isn't it
Sound like a broken record about the snare thing...... I think you should look more into this style of music and if we lay out drums.... Teadout style dubstep would be more likely to have a HUGE snare. Blows mind how you call the cleanest songs, weak if percussion LMAO
Why is it the percussion that seems to always come up short in this comp?
It’s personnal taste at this point, i usually don’t like phat snares like he does, it gets on my nerves.
@@guillaumegagnon7049 Same
@@guillaumegagnon7049 Do you genuinely think it's personal taste? You don't think one type of percussion can be objectively better than another? Some percussion simply doesn't elevate what's on top enough, whilst others does. The clearest thing to my ear whether percussion works or not, can tell straight away and shapes my enjoyment of the music. If the percussion falls flat, the idea doesn't have the desired force and impact. You get what I mean? Would love to know what you think
To the three people who disliked this video... I hope you're happy you ruined my vibe...
5:00 Dropping the breaking bad references right out
Straight after I said that I wondered whether someone would say this, happy you did!
