- I really like this Radio Shack DX-302 but when I tried to use it today, it had a problem. Shall we try to fix it?

I had the same issue with the split gear on the selector.
I tried all kinds of glues and epoxies on the market, none of them could glue the plastic gear.
I ended up making the gear out of hard resin. That works perfect. And I save the mold in case I need it in the future

Thanks this was useful as I just purchased a Realistic DX-302 from ebay in a poor state and I plan on restoring it.
I have a 302. The number to the right of the decimal point will only show a 9. The other two to the right of that work fine. Any suggestions?
I had the DX-300 and was happy with it's performance, the pre-selector does make tuning better for dealing with spurious images etc. the next job you may need to conduct on this radio would be a recap as the PSU section tends to develop an unwanted AC mains related hum.

back in the mid 80s, i changed the preselector assy cuz the old one was really bad. it was a major pain to change but it had to be done

yes, thank you. they! i wont be doing that again any time soon. i have a 302 but not the same one. hard to align even with the service manual. they dont tell you any specifics with the if transformers. just the measurements. i wish they would have given a scope out or something to go on so you just play and keep your fingers crossed
Hi Tom, I have one of the Radio Shack DX-302s also. I have to get into it and replace the preselecter and put new lamps
in it. The radio worked real good but I think some of the newer receivers are more sensitive probably because this radio
has some components aging in it and a realignment needs to be done. I don't remember what the gears were made of
but should have been made of metal instead of plastic or nylon. I am wondering if parts are still available for this radio?
When these radios are working they do a good job on DX. Thanks for the video and good luck!

I have one like brand new but the KHZ gear must have broke, It had a bad backlash and I tuned it below the 0. 000 mark and that was that. Bought it off of Ebay and it lasted one day. Anyone doing repairs on one of these?
