I add ceramic tile to my rabbit cages, they stay cool and the rabbits live laying on them

I put Styrofoam insulation board under my tin on the roof. This keeps the sun from heating the tin and creating an oven under it.

I live in Sydney and last summer 14 of my adult quail died in a single day. So make sure they have cold water and shade.

I don't see why not so long as you have good ventilation.

The quail can take it, as long as they have good shade, like trees, etc,

It's been really hot in PA as well, I keep my quail in the yard which really doesn't have shade once the sun comes over in the after noon. I keep the coops covered with a tarp so there is no direct sunlight beating down on them as well a hiding boxes. The biggest problem I have i them tipping or kicking stuff in the water. I must clean it out 4 times a day. I work during the day so I worry about them not having enough water even with back up bowls. They are messy critters. I will put ice in bowls during the high heat times and frozen water bottles. They have more space than needed and usually they just dig a hole in the bedding and lay out. I'm about to move my 3 week olds outside, but I'm waiting for a break in this heat wave.

I am new to raising quail. I have done my research and watched many youtube videos on them. How cold can they handle? It can drop below 0 here often. Do they require a heat lamp in winter when he drops below a certain temp? Thanks.

I have question I was hoping you could help. So we are very new to raising quails and hatching them we have only successfully hatch three eggs two were bought from a quail farm and the one was one the was layed by the one of the ones we have raised. So last night I thought one was hatching but it wasn’t ready the shell was pealing off. Then the next layer was pure white could not see through and was like a latex glove and the next layer is the see through layer that where the blood and veins are. He was almost developed but not quite but the same thing is happening to three more eggs the shells are peeling off. We took apart the egg to see if we could figure out what is wrong but we can’t find any answers I know this probably makes no sense. We have three that should be ready to hatch Sunday but from what we saw we don’t think they will survive. Are we doing something wrong I can’t find any answers.

I had one of those who pulled feathers from the tails and backs and terrorized his females. He tasted pretty good and the females are very happy with their new male.

It is 109 degrees in eastern WA and dry as a bone. I just brought my Quail inside where the fan and air conditioner is cooling them down. tomorrow is forecast for 111 degrees. I figure next week they can go back out. Extra large totes can come in handy sometimes.👌

I've had 1 quail and two chickens die from heat. They were all in shaded areas with a fan, the, one duck has suffered from the heat, even with shade and a pool. The heat here in Arkansas has been brutal already with triple digit heat indexes!

I’ve been putting frozen water bottles in my quail cage to cool it down. I also keep plenty of water in the cage for them. What do you think about the frozen water bottles ? P.S. love to watch your channel, so informative. Thank you 😊
