  • In this video for medical students, I review the pathophysiology of autoimmunity and then discuss two representative diseases: rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus. This material is based on Robbins & Kumar Basic Pathology, 11th edition.

    Thanks! I think it is common for people to think that if a disease is named, it must have a determined cause. These are examples of syndromes that share certain commonalities but may never have a clear first cause. A valuable understanding.

      Thank you, Dr. Sadofsky. The pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases is incredibly complex and there is still a LOT to be learned about the pathophysiology.
