When cleaning a black granite sink, many individuals confuse mineral deposits with minor surface damage. Although both mineral deposits and surface damage have a chalky-looking white haze, they have vastly different methods of removal. This video shows one of our recent customers videotaping our restoration guide while she walks through it. A special thanks to Cathy K from Rogers Minnesota for sending us this video and letting us edit and use it for the benefit of helping others. The complete step-by-step instructions are below:
    1. Preparation for Repair
We need to begin by removing all grime, grit, oils, and mineral deposits (calcium and lime) with the Supreme Surface Scum & Mineral Deposit Remover. Do this by liberally applying it to the area, and letting it sit for 15 minutes or more. Make sure to keep it moist and don't let it dry.
After this, gently agitate the area with a non-abrasive pad or cloth. We recommend using a Scotch-Brite Non-Scratch Dish Wand with very little pressure to the surface.
Thoroughly rinse and dry. It is important to repeat this step until the sink's appearance no longer changes between applications and remains consistent. Note: If you've used oil on the surface of your sink in the past, your sink will look worse after the first application of this product. If this happens to you, have no worries because you're on your way to restoring the look of your granite sink.
    2. Restoration and Repair
For this portion, you will need a (new) plain white rag or towel, gloves, a new paintbrush, a disposable bowl, and Miracle 511 Seal & Enhance or NuVibrants Composite Sink Treatment.
Begin by making sure the sink is entirely clean and dry.
With the gloves on, place your disposable bowl in the sink, and pour some of the 511 Sealer & Enhancer into the bowl.
From here, you will want to take the paintbrush and spread the 511 Seal & Enhance all along the sink. Since it modifies appearance, make sure you do not spill or apply it to any area other than the sink. Make sure the sink is completely covered.
Let the product dry for 4-5 minutes, and wipe all excess off with the plain white rag or towel.
From here, it will take 4-6 hours for the remainder of the 511 Sealer & Enhancer to dry. Wait one hour into the drying process, and observe the sink. If you believe the sink would benefit from another application, now is the time to re-apply it.
Please note that for each application, it will take longer to dry. Even in cases where individuals have sandpapered their entire sink, more than 3 coats has never been necessary in our experience.
    3. Clean Protect and Maintain the Sink
After the sink has finished drying, you will want to apply the Supreme Surface Granite Quartz & Marble Treatment with ioSeal to the sink. Simply spray on, wipe off and wait 20- 30 seconds before using your sink..
Although your sink is now ready to use, it is important to continue using the Supreme Surface Granite Quartz & Marble Treatment with ioSeal to the sink at lease once a day, every day, for 10-14 days to maximize the ioSeal protectants. This will help make the sink easier to clean and keep clean in the future and maintain the vibrants of color.
If your sink has a white haze that can't seem to be removed in step one, you don't have an issue with mineral deposits, it's most likely damage to the surface and here's how to fix it. This restoration process is a proven method to restore the look of black composite granite sinks. That's a whole lot of work for a kitchen sink. I think I'm returning my granite composite sink that I just bought after this video. This material is ridiculous to maintain.

As a house cleaner, I learn what to avoid putting in my house.
I’d take a good cast iron or stainless steel any given day over these problematic high maintenance sinks.
Whoever decided this material would be a good idea for a highly used kitchen sink should be fired.

As mentioned by the manufacturer: "Daily cleaning may be done with any non-abrasive cleaner." It is important to know that scouring pads / abrasive pads are included in the abrasive cleaner category. Although these types of sponges /pads work well to dislodge mineral deposits (calcium or lime) they can cause damage., When used on a composite sink (frequently or with too much downward pressure) the surface "progressively" becomes damaged. This becomes very noticeable on dark colored sinks. Please consider that others have discovered this video for a reason, they have a problem and want to fix it. Please don't be a troll and attempt to discredit a system that works and has helped thousand of consumers around the world. If every consumer wiped their sink out after every use, avoided harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners (pads in this category), didn't have accidents, actually read care and maintenance instructions and followed them from the beginning, this issue and the video wouldn't exist. However, we are here to assist people with a solution to a real problem. For personalized service with a stone care professional call 317-865-0000.

The key to keeping a granite sink looking good is to wipe it out after each and every use. This is why all manufacturers (including Blanco, Kraus, and Franke all recommend it. However, it's unlikely that many will follow these guidelines, this is why Step 3 (Supreme Surface Granite Quartz & Marble Treatment is so meaningful. This video shows how to repair a black granite sink that was damaged by using the abrasive side of a sponge or abrasive pads over a prolonged period of time. Harsh chemicals will also contribute to a damaged sink! If you've tried cleaning your sink with a lot of different products without success, do a simple test to see if a repair or restoration is right for you. If your sink looks good when wet or with an oil, but not so good when dry, the sink is damaged and this video shows how to fix it. There are basically four types of white haze: 1) cleaning issues, 2) abrasive / non-scratch pads, 3) chemical damage, and 4) heat. The first two are typically easy to restore because the damage is usually just superficial. However, chemical and heat damage can be either superficial (easy to fix) or permanent. Supreme surface is the best product I have used for my black sink. I am going on 9 years and am starting to have a problem with buildup mineral. Never used the 511 seal, I use supreme's spray on and it seals and then water beads off after a few coats.

    • @SupremeSurface

If you are experiencing mineral buildup on a composite sink or granite countertop, try Supreme Surface Scum and Mineral Deposit Remover, followed by Supreme Surface Granite Quartz & Marble Treatment with ioSeal. When the ioSeal Treatment is used frequently enough on any surface, the bond strength of future minerals is reduced, allowing them to be removed with a soft sponge without texture or harsh chemicals. I hope this is helpful.

    • @SupremeSurface
      @SupremeSurface  2 года назад

Harsh chemical damage and extreme heat typically cause a white spot that won't go away and cannot be repaired. However, if you get your sink wet (or oil it) and it looks good, until the water evaporates or the oil dissipates, this repair will work. for more questions on how to repair a composite sink feel free to contact our help line at 317-865-0000.
