Curious. Micro Komodo + fcx trans and fcx axles vs micro Komodo + scx trans and fcx axles. I assume the gearing of the fcx trans gives more speed in second compared to the scx trans with the same axles and motor?
Super curious as well.
Trying to figure out how to keep the FCX trans but upgrade the motor. :)
@@chaicracker they have the micro Komodo with fcx24 transmission available. I’ll have to do some speed runs with those two to compare them.
I actually think the scx24 transmission is faster with the micro Komodo. You can sort of tell you’re crawling with a higher gear with it though. It still crawls really well but is a tad more touchy than the fcx24 transmission in low with the micro Komodo. I’m out of town now but when I get back home I’ll do some more comparisons between the two hopefully!
@@2fmrc I am definitely curious which transmission is faster.
As a super noob to the hobby, im thinking of starting with the furitek as a base instead of the ax24. I just dont want to buy "2" rigs trying to upgrade 1.
You just love making me spend money🤣🤣. Awesome little crawler build!
😆 can’t help it! So much fun!
@@2fmrc absolutely!
Suspension set up just how I like it for general crawling. It won't just drop a corner down into a hole, it will float the wheel unless the articulation is forced. Get jammed up less that way.
D
Digging that crawler, thanks again for the great video. Looks like I'm spending more on toys this weekend..
lol it happens! Gotta do something with all that money 😆
That’s impressive, it resembles a lizard crawling on rocks! Killer rig, thanks for the info.
Pigeon Forge Gatlinburg is my backyard are you fairly local to that area?
I am today lol. I’m about 5hrs away usually
Dude! That is sick! I've got a couple of hard body's that I could fit on to that and then run. Stoked you put this content together, really appreciate it. 🙌
Wow! Looks great. Thanks for sharing man!
Damn I knew I should have waited on buying the FCX 😂 oh well I’m contributing to the industry
Haha!
I love how quiet it is, awesome rig!
What do you think of the rtr kit they have available now? Just got into the micro crawlers with the FMS K5 and would definitely like something a little more capable. The rtr seems to be a nice option or would it be worth it to buy the electronics separately? Thanks for all the awesome videos!
There is a lot of value in the Furitek cayman rtr imo. I would definitely change the shocks and possibly the body to be even more capable but besides that it’s a really good deal. The body is just a hard body so performance isn’t what it can be with a lexan. The shocks included like to stick pretty bad once dirty so I usually swap those. Besides that it’s solid. You can also get it for $355 shipped on amainhobbies atm with the discount code may1523
bit.ly/3MDmlAJ
@@2fmrc thank you very much! I really appreciate all that you do for the hobby. The price point is higher like you said but man there is a lot of value for the money. 😀
Hi, I really appreciate your videos and information. I’ve learned a lot from you. I have a question. I purchased the Furitek Cayman Pro, have made a few mods, and loving it! The front drive shaft bound up and popped off. I want to upgrade to steel drive shafts but don’t know what to order. Could you please recommend any? Thank you 🙏🏾
IMPRESSIVE!
Furitek has reach the top of the mountain it seems. Great action video bro!
When and where are you going to be in Gatlinburg?
I’m here now!
A good friend of mine has an evo24 pro with fcx axles and a 280 revolver it's an absolute blast. This is a nice kit I may have to grab one
I built a cheat code similar to yours. I can't wait for you to pit them against each other and see how the overdrive transmission compares
Awesome Matt, yeah I really like this new chassis I will get one when I can for sure. Appreciate your sharing. I’m curious if the power wagon body fits
Thanks! Yeah the wheelbase is basically the same as a stock fcx so the power wagon body will fit. You’d just have to mount it with the magnets or some other way because the stock mounting system obviously won’t work.
Have u had the Bluetooth module wires come undone I bought a lizard pro my Bluetooth wires came undone
Great video and the Furitek chassis looks great🤘✌️
Is there a esc that crawls well that doesn't have that weird jump of power in the middle?
Pick up a RC4WD 1/24 body to try out on your builds
Can`t wait to get mine and the remaining parts I ordered to complete it. I use deck restore paint on my indoor plaster courses and love it. It has a high traction stone like texture that is as close to real rock feeling as I have found. You are not going to hurt it with these little trucks. Spin away and just leave cool rubber marks. Another plus is it can be custom colored. I use a sand stone tan base. Detail paint with acrylic over the top. Traction like concrete/mortar but without the weight.
Yep, it works great. Building a course currently with foam board and plaster sheets over broken foam pieces. Wanted something to help fill the holes of plaster sheets as well and be durable, just happened to think I had about 8 gallon I had bought cheap of grey restore (mis-tint) a few years back and it works awesome!! Crazy awesome kit as well Matt.
The value of that rig is incredible man I can’t believe it, I was saying before that for a serious comp rig we were gonna need a single speed transmission option & here it is. Looks like they have that skid plate on the site now too. Bravo to Furitek 🤯
What is the benefit for a single speed transmission compared to two speed?
As a new FCX24 owner I wouldn’t know if I ever use a slow single speed car when the second gear often got me to places where the first gear just couldn’t turn the wheels fast enough.
Cheers :)
@@chaicracker While I do love the second gear when I’m just out having fun, for a competition crawling rig, we will never use the second gear, it’s just added weight & moving parts that aren’t needed.
@@MitchellWayyyyne Good point! Thank you for the response :)
It’s definitely a good deal.
The flysky transmitter you mention, is the FS-GT5? have been looking for a good transmitter that is reasonable in price. love your videos, thanks
Yes. It’s a great transmitter and I love the micro receivers for it!
amzn.to/3Rybh8x
What tires are you using
Those are the LGRP swamp kings. They are a really good larger tire.
any updates on this thing
I’m hopefully gonna be posting up some running with it here soon. Got some decent time with it last wk. Just haven’t had time to get the footage together. I’m gonna go ahead and stretch it out a bit and at that point it will definitely be one of my best.
what batteries do you recommend for this?
Superbe video , c est qoi l autre camion que tu as montré, il est super bas et bien racè , son chassis a l air plus interssant avec ses multiples points d amortisseur
can you link the body you are using pls
Can you do a video but with the hotracing overdrive trans in that cayman? I searched your vids for the overdrive trans but nothing came up.
This is my build that has the overdrive transmission in it. It has the cheat code chassis but fcx24 axles. It drives almost exactly the same as this Cayman but with a little od.
Best SCX24 yet?!! FCX24 portal axle install on Cheat Code chassis! No worm gears = Beast Mode
ruclips.net/video/AcintUPnTTw/видео.html
i have the caman kit is there any one that make over drive gears. thanks
I appreciate your honesty I love your videos I hope they do very good I've had to speak blessings over them that transition from the war the bridge was down was sick
It’s a awesome rig I love the one I built only down fall is the drag brake is not as strong
Yeah you have to really crank up the drag brake and lock brake feature in the app. It will still sometimes get a slight roll back but I kinda like a little so I don’t have to hit reverse. Just let off and let it creep slowly to reposition.
I personally think the geometry of the fcx base is better, and the cayman couples all of the best traits. You get the ring gear axles, carisma style shocks (it seems) fcx style geometry and an scx skid with OD trans, then the brushless. That truly is the master class build, and is only rivaled by the 6x6 which you could argue calls for different situations in crawling. THERES LITERALLY NO REASON TO SPEND MONEY ON ANYTHING ELSE.
Awesome video. Also loved your video on the LNC. Btw i am modelling my Losi night crawler on yours as much as I can, the one with the black creep body, can you make more running vdos of that?
Thanks! I would but I actually sold it. Just have too many and it didn’t get much run time so I passed it on. They are a very capable crawler. Only thing I didn’t like was the worm gears. Sort of like the scx24… I just couldn’t get the wheel speed I wanted with it.
Ok cool yup life has to move on. I also just wish I could make this thing bit quieter, i don't mind the slow speed
not sure if this has been asked already but do you think you can use the komodo instead of the micro komodo?
Not with this mount but the cayman basically runs an Scx24 transmission so you could pull the transmission and install the one with the Komodo. They actually sell the cayman now with no motor or transmission so you could definitely go that route. If you do don’t forget to use 2fmrc for a slight discount lol
furitek.com/products/furitek-cayman-barebone-carbon-fiber-kit
Can’t decide whether to get this or wait for the Trx4m? I really want to see the 45 degree steering angle in action!
This is definitely more of a crawler imo. The Trx4m will be nice but it’ll be more of a trail truck imo. Till you do a lot of mods anyway lol
I think they send better units out to the influencers than they do the customers. The plastic drive shaft on mine sheared at the spline where it entered the other piece, never being in a bind, and the shocks are unusable and sound like mini staplers. I put oil shocks on it and they are very nice. Two nuts fell off the links from running. I expect nuts instead of threaded holes on cheap no-name stuff. It does perform well but I put a lot of work into it and replaced (so far) the drive shafts, shocks, and axles. The axles are sweet and twice the weight (exactly) of the plastic stock axles and have full metal gears in the portals and diffs. They use normal and not reverse on the radio. Silver (aluminum) and match the links and drive shafts. The only thing I don't like about them is they are machined for 3 link and have only one threaded hole so two more nuts to watch. At least it doesn't have phillips head screws. It's a nice rig but I made it so, not Furitek. Nine spoke wheels with 55x20 pins, Lizard Pro, RadioLink 4 channel receiver. I will scrap the chassis and attach it to my Injora rock buggy.
are you having problems with the fcx axle pinion/ring gears failing? I went through two rear axles in two days. really weird
Haven’t had much issue but I did just kill one in my 2FM chassis build. Front axle though
@@2fmrc bummer, sorry to hear that. I was hoping I was a rare case. Anyways, I ordered the metal ring/pinion gears to see if that helps. Have you tried those yet?
Sweet. I have trx4m almost fully built. But I just purchased the rtr version of this with the transmitter. Says shipped so I’m waiting on pins and needles.
what axles are in these? FMS ?
So basically, you need tires, wheels, battery, esc and body. I have a futaba 4PM transmitter. That should work, correct??
Are the mud slingers better than these injora mud tires?
Imo yes
Where is the gburg footage!
Adding the lizard to it changes the overall quality and expectancies are obviously gonna be different then someone buys bone stock
I gotta get 1 this looks so cool
Are the shocks scx24 or fcx24? Will scx24 shocks fit?
They are most like the aluminum cr24 shocks. You could use Scx24 shocks but you’d need to drill out or change the ball stud on the bottom to fit the larger screws.
The fair RC fms24 brass steering links are sub par. They hit the pumpkin and cut your steering angle way down.
Well dang! They looked nice but I haven’t installed them yet 😞
@@2fmrc the brass steering knuckles are nice. They are not as heavy as I hoped but they are well made
Thanks for that tip!
That thing is just sticking to the rocks! Wow. Argh. So tempting.
awesome thanks
That is a sweet little rig with lots of heart! I need one ASAP!
I glad I the algorithm sent you my way! Your putting out great content my guy
damn you Matt
200? 339 on website
That’s probably the new Cayman pro at $339. This is the original. The one found here
bit.ly/3CfIqRq
@@2fmrc thanks. Do you know what wheels fit these portal axles?
@@mkcourtney most fit them pretty well. If the hex looks like it sits way back in the wheel they may not but I’ve ran a ton of different wheels on them. I sometimes run these Samix 6mm hex to space the wheels away from the portal a bit more
bit.ly/3RQuH8X
Ordered one of these after watching this. I’ve been hesitant to buy any of the 1/24 scale but just put a furitek system in my kids scx24 and it’s so much more fun.
These caymans are definitely the way to go for an rtr! Hope you enjoy it!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I’m sorry I can’t find the video we’re you said the brand on the micro receiver, and will that micro rx bind to the gt5 transmitter radio?
This is the one I’m using. It binds up with the gt5 perfectly!

What body and tires please?
Little guy racing parts swamp kings for the tires he has a link for a body in the description.
Such a great product. If I get into mini crawling I'm definitely going with a Cayman build.
That wheel/ tire combo is sick 👌
Thanks! I really liked them
This would run around $400 when rtr
I honestly don't know why I even bothered buying the fcx24 stock and saying I'm goin to keep it stock and just have fun, considering 4 scx24 later you think I might have learned 🤔 😅..
After 1 drive outta the box. And watching ur vidz I just went for it and literally ordered pretty much a whole new one with upgrades. So I guess I'll have 2 now 😆
Haha! It’s so hard to leave them alone!
@@2fmrc oh I know, I don't know why I'm so addicted to the minis.. I can't wait for ups to deliver the stuff from furitek today especially the brushless Trans combo I have lizard pro for it already. But the tegu pro with built-in avatar receiver interests me so see how it works.
Love all ur content it's so helpful there are way too many parts out there, you really help me with deciding what to get.
What tires are those?
Little guy racing parts swamp kings
Why does the Barebones kit doesn't come with drive shafts? It says motor and transmission not included, so I assume the drive shafts comes with it. If it says it wasn't included i would've ordered the almost ready to run version. Also, the chameleon motor doesn't look like it would fit. I'm very upset with furitek again.
The first thing to break on my Cayman was a drive shaft.
@@shockman8014 Furitek sent me free drive shafts but i dont even like the kit anymore. The skid must be machined incorrectly because one screw hole doesn't line up. I give up on my kit. I want to sell mine.
I sent my buddy your first video on this chassis and he preordered right after watching. After seeing it in action, looks like I’m getting one myself. Such a killer deal.
Heck yeah man! I appreciate you sharing the vid 🙏 Hope you guys enjoy them!
@@2fmrc I’m sure we will, Furitek never disappoints. Both of us have a fleet of these little rigs but are excited to try out the FCX portals. Should definitely fuel or “friendly” competition lol.
Could you put the proline cliffhanger body on that with out doing anything to the link's?
Yes! I didn’t touch the links on it and it fits perfect as you can see.
Thanks that's what my wife and I want for Xmas. We have two cliffhanger bodies and I hate to say her's looks really cool pink the stickers really pop we black out her windows and wow 😲😲 I have to admit it looks sharp. I painted mine grafite gray with black windows
