Spinal Tap has gone out on tour. I wish I had the chance to see them. They even did one with the Folksmen as the opening act. I saw them on VH1 years after the movie with Mick Fleetwood drumming (and he survived).
I would say that no list of fictional bands is complete without The Dregs of Humanity. Also, Otis Day and the Knights, who sort of became real later on, after their movie appearance.

the vocals in Steel Dragon were actually done by Miles Kennedy from Alterbridge fame

Jeff Scott Soto did the vocals. Mr. Kennedy played Steel Dragon fan Thor.who made an appearance at the end of the movie.

Thanks! I have never seen the movie but it looks great - looks like The Heartbeats got beat out by Flash and the Ebony Sparks at the battle of the bands competition- I will add it to my watchlist and be sure to include more R&B focused groups in our future videos- appreciate the feedback!! Todd-
Agreed Fred. Robert Townsend was part of that. He was also in one of my favorite movies The Meteor Man, which had many 'Real' music acts in acting roles...
actually saw the Commitments in concert. didn't feature all the folks from the movie but well represented

Streets Of Fire's Ellen Aim & The Attackers had two great songs which bookend the movie nicely. Perhaps a bit heavy the 80's drum machines, but the singer sounded great.
I cant say I have ever seen Streets of Fire but I added it to my Plex watchlist - another viewer suggested The Sorels from the same movie - I have added videos for both fictional bands to our "Fictional Bands" channel playlist! Don't forget about the 80's band "The Pinheads". Marty Mcfly was the main guitarist. I personally like the zztop band from the old west too.

That Eddie and the Cruisers sound, which was actually John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band, was big at the time, kind of sound alikes to Springsteen, John Cougar and others

I saw the Rutles play about a year before Neil Innes passed away.
Such a great spoof band and I read somewhere that the actual Beatles liked them as well and “endorsed” them (probably means they didn’t sue them 😳) - thanks for the comment and for watching 😁❤️🇺🇸
