For folks who think they just watched bananas mixed with other foods - no. Stop it! Google the damn fruit first! The plaintain is an awesome fruit which, when unripened, tastes like a potato. Hence meat dishes. When it gets ripe (yellow to black in color) it becomes super sweet and holds up well to frying.
Coming from a caribbean family, those stuffed fritter-like recipes are exactly how we got rid of the leftover stew beef and chicken. I was thrilled to see this video.
Wikipedoa says that they are green bananas
@@platinumworld2934 😂 green bananas are just unripe bananas
Wow rly! I was soo confused but you explained it for me! Thank you!!
What kind of oil do you fry them in?
@@jamesheck9148 any kind of oil, duhhhh🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
I’m Dominican, Im simple, I see plátano and I like with no hesitation 🤷🏾♀️
same
I’m Haitian and same
Same here
Exacto
You can put anything inside a plantain and I will eat it (I eat it with everything as well as rice)
plantains are under rated
Fvge :c true but it is overrated in my country Nigeria
Yes, true
It's common in Bangladesh.
By who no offense but is mainly underrated in the white culture (no offense) but in many minority groups it isn't
Underrated? Its the most commonly used food in the Africa, Latin America, and certain parts of Asia
Here's the best of them all:
Peel your plantain and cut it in chunks. Fry them but don't let them get too fried (if that makes any sense), like when they're getting yellow but not that much. Put them on a cutting board and flatten them using another cutting board. Fry them a little longer, don't let them go too crusty. Add salt/cheese/guacamole/fried tomatoes & onions/meat or pretty much anything you like (but specially, enjoy them with salt only. It's delicious.)
In Colombia we call that a patacón. Or patacona for those who are wrong.
there's so much oil in this video the usa wants to invade it.
Mhm I usually just cut em diagonal then fry them
Mr.Foams99 me too! It's so nice if you add a little salt before hand☺️
Mr.Foams99 Me too!
Tostones are also pretty good
I usually just eat them how you would eat any other type of banana
@@planetvnus before or after you fry them it should be after you fry.
6 Delicious plantain recipes ft. Mozzarella
Nada mejor que un buen plátano frito.
Reading all the people saying you don’t mix sweet with cheese like. They. Aren’t. Sweet.

Damn I love tasty channel but seriously does everything need cheese and just salt and pepper
Yes without cheese there would be no food. Go team cheese squad
U can’t cook bc sweet plantain doesn’t need much.
@@JE-im4im exactly highest I'd put is salt to enhance the flavour. That's it.
Gracias! I really never knew what to do with those starchy 'bananas' except to boil them into a mash - now I have a Tasty repertoire!
y'all missed the tostones
Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 shit💯💯
people who have Plantain, already know what and how to cook with it, and people who don't know what to do with it, normally can't get their hands on Plantain ...
PLANTAIN WRAPPED PLANTAINS
I’m half Haitian and I love plantains and this looks bomb
loving the spanish subtitles, I can finally send a tasty video to my mom and have her know what to add! They should do this for all the episodes!! 😍
Never thought of being this creative with plantain ❤️❤️❤️
Ok I was really confused when I saw the name and was halfway through the video. Plantains are basically like bananas they are part of the banana family, they are starchy , low in sugar variety that is cooked before serving as it is unsuitable raw. Plantains are usually served fried or baked. Plantains have thicker skin than bananas and are usually used as vegetables the are also longer than bananas. The colors of plantains can range from yellow green, green, or even BLACK. So yeah sorry this is such a long comment I was just so confused. Hope this helped!
They can be boiled (?) too if not too matured. Can know when too black
Any non-Latino Caribbeans in here?
West Indians thank u very much
2:17 Can that guy control his hand while sprinkling salt
All amazing recipes plantains can be very versatile
As a Jamaican I approve of this video... I made of few if these before by accident didnt know what I was making had names😋😋
My mum used to make plantain boiled in coconut milk, and I will tell you, it. Tastes. Delicious.
I've actually never heard of someone putting plantain in for lasagne or any savoury meals tbh. Normally you'd just fry them or bake them and add a bit of sugar, cinnamon or salt. Doesn't look so appetising to me but people like what they like. I think plantains are more for desert than with meals.
Suhaima Afreen lol wrong comment brah
Your mum used to make a lot of things! For instance, she used to make love to me.
Umran Mustafa ...okay?
I'm African and all these recipes made me say WTH? XD
omg ikr! like plantain and cheese are NOT meant to be together at all
genie hunter in Spanish food they definitely are! Green or sweet, they make a great combo, especially with rice and beef
Food is food. Its grown, used, and cooked differently everywhere. Accept it.
savegalkissy when i lived in spain i nevet saw these kind of dishes (or maybe i did and i don't remember hahaha) but they look really nice!
Florr Corr latino dishes use plantains a lot. I’m not Spain spanish so idk what dishes are there, but in the US ppl tend to use Hispanic and Latino in the same way so sorry for the confusion :0
But yea, plantains and cheese is good, though I don’t usually see people combining them specifically, but rather it’s meat+cheese*
+plaintain
It’s usually something you eat as a side dish, or mixed into meat. So these are interesting dishes, but the combination of food isn’t all that unique to me (especially that meat roll)
As a hispanic, this video gave me a stroke
Cheers, cheese cheese .Why tho .Plantains at good w/o adding cheese.
I'm German and reside now in El Salvador with my beautiful wife, and i absolutely L O V E Plantains (Platanos) i have to have them every day .Very delicious fried and with a cup of coffee. QUE RIIIIIICO!!!!😊
As a Dominican who always eats plátanos, it gives me so much pride and happiness to see this.
Isn't this 6 cheese recipes?
Oh well im just happy that tasty is back
Super excited about these recipes. A lot of them we make but there were quite a bit of new ones. Looking forward to trying them. Thanks for the recipes.
As a person of Caribbean background, I could not watch this comfortably oh my goodness. Please tell me I'm not the only one. I've never seen plantain used like this before lmao... um, creative? Maybe...
Laughs in Dodo***
I have never wanted a plantain this much.
I love plantain and this makes it even better😭👏
I'm not feeling a lot of these but B++ for creativity 👏🏾
Me encanta ver sus recetas! Ya he probado hacer una que otra. Y me gusta mucho que tengan en los vídeos los ingredientes que usan en inglés y español. Gracias! 😉
oml i've never had plantains and now i reeeaally wanna try them someday💕
Oh my goodness!! I made the pastelon recipe for dinner and at first my 12 year old son was all like " eww bananas with meat?!" And after he tried it ,he wanted seconds. It has a very savory flavor to it, not too sweet not to salty. Perfect!
Thanks for the spanish subtitles
#Dodogang
lmao all these people calling plantains bananas
What is it then???
@@ahnafhasan3835 It's a relative of the banana, but much more starchy, more like a sweet potato. They are inedible raw, no matter how ripe, but cook beautifully (bananas cook into mush, these starchy relatives hold up well under heat).
Let's make a joke
These plaintain recipes are bananas! Lol
Robodachi Gaming
Lets make a joke
You can’t get your facts straight about south American food PLATAIN IS REALLY BAD FOR YOU TO EAT RAW
Who says I eat bananas.

Pro Player 1⃣ 😂 yes I'm
Pro Player 1⃣ I'm not Chinese I'm kurdish 😂
love these recipes
Why so much cheese? Just curious because I don't think plaintain and cheese go together but to each its own
Willa Jones RIGHT😂
You are most likely thinking of the taste of bananas then. Plantains and cheese works great together.
+givememore4free I've tried it and didn't like it
Plantains go well with everything, lol! Boiled green plantains (salt in the water) and fried white cheese or any cheese, tbh. Mangú (mashed boiled green plantains) with meat, cheese, eggs, whatever you want. Boiled yellow plantains, mashed yellow plantains, with cheese.
+Misha HJ not in my opinion
These look soo yumy
looks amazing!
People :bananas are healthy
Tasty: let’s bake it in a lot of oil
Reda Benjelloun
They're not bananas!
Rhett Gustilo i’m talking about 0:40
Reda Benjelloun
Yeah, so? They're still not called bananas. Plantains are starchier than bananas. I think you can't eat them raw.
Making fruit juice since 1987 You certainly cannot eat them raw. The confusion seems to come from some Americans calling them bananas
Looks delicious
Shoutout to al the guyanese people 🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾
Ive only seen plantains used in sweet dishes, these were mostly meaty and cheesy. Just a simple steamed (skin on) is great. Or deep fried with a flour batter coating (beer batter may be good, never tried)
Gracias! Your video puts a smile on my face today ❤
These so mouth watering! Thank you
I'm salvadorian and Nicaraguense and I looveee me some platanos/maduros !!!
You can make flatbread with green (unripe) plantain. 2-3 green plantain cut up and put in a blender with some water, olive oil and salt. Blend until smooth. Spread on a baking sheet and cook for like 25 mins at around 400. Makes awesome flatbread.
In my town we eat them fried with sour cream and fresh cheese on top. Yummm
GRACIAS POR PONERLE TRADUCCION!!! soy de Argentina y habian cosas q no sabia, NO SABES LA AYUDA Q ME DA!!!

Since we have watching like every montage possible from tasty can we see burgers and potatoes
Honestly plantain is so tasty, all it needs is a pinch of salt. I freakin loooveeee plantain
My friend said she doesn't like putting salt in her plantains and it shocked me 😭😭
@@naturallyalex2 wait so how does she eat it 😭 just plain?
Imggg u made that dish!!!!!! What can I say amazing
one of the best videos by far
Plantain is my favourite food but I would never put cheese on it.
your missing out. ripe plantains with some cheese on top. you never had pastelon?
Have you never tasted mangu with cheese?
I just fried some in coconut oil, added season salt, and then plastered them w sour cream. YUM.
Samuelitron is that a thing
Its good tho. Strongly suggest you try it.
I love any culture that likes to fry things multiple times, those are my kind of people ♥
Wow. All these people complaining about cheese and plantains are hilarious. Every culture has their own way of cooking. In Latin America cheese and plantains go together like rice and beans. It’s absolutely delicious. Mozzarella and crumbly queso fresco are my two favorite cheeses to put on.
Also, sweet plantains are used in desserts. Kinda hoping they had one dessert recipe on here.
Wow amazing 😋
Thank you
What kind of oil do you fry them in?
I love plantain
I'm really glad I watch enough mitú and Pero Like to know what platano are XD. That, and I'm born and raised in Southeast Asia haha.
Delicioso 🙌🏼
Saludos desde México 😁☺️
Plantains, yes!!!
been waiting for this forever
Damn you sure like meat, cheese and deep frying.
Very nice colour saturation, that first recipe when you added the diced bell just stood out.
I always watch your vedios they inspire me to cook more better

Esto se come aqui en VENEZUELA yummmm...
Aw I was hoping for a dessert recipe for these😅
I'm Jamaican and i have access to good amount of plantain so thank for the idea. #LOVETASTYVIDEO 👍
If u are Hispanic, you are freaking out at this video! Like I see some similarities between traditional dishes and the ones in this video, but at the same time, not really. I think this video brought a different spin for others who have never tried plantains before, and have made it more appealing. Thanks!
what's a plaintain and how does it taste?
اعتني المقادير
Tasty se ha hecho más perfecto haciendo también los vídeos en español. 😊
PATACONES!!!!! Nada como unos buenos patacones rellenos de ceviche 😊 ya tengo hambre

See now I am impressed af with this video, the curry one though needs a redo !
4:35 in my country we call that dish, Canoas (canoes) because of the shape.😇
Why did u guys take the pastelon off your website?
Love it...😂😍
So... basically it's like Pisang Tanduk (literally means horn banana) in my country.
Some of us fried it and eat it with sambal (our local chili paste) and it tastes great.
Carne molida lmao anyway loved it
