You might want to put rails over the pipe to keep the cows from possibly falling off the crossing...also the stone you are using isn't there a possiblity that they can get stuck in the cows hooves...Just a thought
yep.....lots of comments about the cows falling in the creek....remember...when they cross we have poly wire up to prevent them from roaming off the path
I'm surprised the building inspector didn't show up and red tag you for not placing bovine safery rails like for geriatric or handicapped cows JK
The dirt and rock never goes as far as we want.
Another skill to put on your resume'... Road Builder.
Young man, your attitude is wonderful, your life seems to be much happier and less stressful!
thank you so much!
Well that's another bridge you've crossed 😮.. Good work .. 👏 definitely keep that bucket.. stay safe 🏴
Nothing beats getting it done with what you have. You certainly could spend tons renting or buying the right equipment, but now you're only out fuel and time instead.
Came out very nice, Josh. Another big job checked off the list! Wooooo!
Every farm needs a farmhand. An extra pair of hands to make things go much faster.
lol....yep....show me one willing to work!
Wow ! U r a worker ! Jack of all trades 👍🏼👊🏻
Glad you got it done God bless you Josh in this time my brother you remain in my heart sir & in my prayers Joshua
Best David
thanks David!
Hamburger highway, T-bone trail, Tenderloin turnpike
Great job and with minimal .................... Well done
That looks great!
Nice job, Josh!!!
Love watching your project videos... makes me want to add attachments to my tractor lol...great job brother..
You seem very upbeat but by the end you looked tired. Such a good feeling at the end of a successful project.
"Farmer creates controversy.... still using Selectric blue tractor to feed cows."
Love it! Great tool on the farm.... no diesel to buy for small jobs. Use the tool that makes the most sense to you!
evidently a battery drill or blue tooth radio is ok...but a battery in a tractor isn't lol
@StoneyRidgeFarmer well Josh, I think it's absolutely brilliant! Most of us are uncomfortable with change so I get why some are reticent to embrace the electric option in vehicles.(I still drive a gasser, for range and hauling. ) It's coming though.... and though it's very different..... it's most likely the responsible choice for the planet.
In the end it will be our children, and our children's children who decide.
If you had an electric forklift to use around the megashop they wouldn't say a word. If you already have enough solar capacity to charge it that little electric tractor makes a lot of sense.
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer I think Selectric just went out of business. Check that for fact, but that's the rumor.
A bit of larger clear rock(rip/rap)(or what ever it is called) at the ends of the culvert, may help in erosion.
If a big rain comes it may wash out the culvert.
field stones will be placed in this area from what we pick up out of the pastures
Great job for what it's for! Good enough for the girls I run with! As they say... love the channel, love the content.
Great Josh ,Ron Dickinson, Texas
This was a great project, and I learned a lot about sequencing, adding gravel as you went to be able to compact based on all your trips. I also realize I’m way behind on what vehicles you have these days. Was not tracking on this new dump truck. Last one I knew about was, the Home Depot delivery truck that you used at the sawmill. I personally would enjoy a video
(S) on an update of your support vehicles, and your tentative vehicle projects for the future.
Nice job
Nice build on the road! Another great project completed on the SRF enhancing the beauty and making operations run smoothly.
🚜-Woooo!!
Thanks Chris!
Love your all videos keep up the good work 😊
One Man Working Like Three
Great job!
4x4 is the best to have on a farm truck might not use it all the time but have when you need it
I agree 1000%....but this little dump is 2wd. I'd love to do a bed swap on a 4wd at some point
Hey Josh thank you for the video and I was just thinking maybe the warlock dump truck needs a bigger hydraulic motor that way you can hold more weight in it that way you can get more done woo
Always nice to see SRF moving forward. We have a Tym 474CH on our farm in Forsyth county.
I love it! Great job!!!
Now Josh, you know that when planning a project on the farm to take your most realistic estimate and double it, then add one extra day....just to be sure. At least that is how it works around here.
lol...try filming it along with doing the work! Add another double!
You got’er done looks great
You’re doing a great job and love your videos 💪
Beautiful Josh. Produce and Create!
Great job ,looking great .love watching your progress in every video
Looks good! I've been working on a similar project here on my small farm. It's going to be a while before I can say 'all done!' on it. The construction work NEVER finishes!
Should have put fabric under the stone to keep the stone from sinking thru the dirt (mud)!
doesn't work around here my friend...nobody uses fabric because in 10 years when I go in and "rip" the road up with the box scrape....it will rip up the fabric. That works great in some places but not common around here
Josh nicely done Atta Boy Woo
Got it looking good Stoneyman you got a beautiful place buddy for sure
A+ Solid Improvement; makes the Cattle Operation Cleaner
man a mini x would be nice on the farm !!!!!!
my neighbor has one that I can use...very handy!!
Love watching these types of projects you do. Another Hit out of the park.
thanks buddy!
That is a fine looking lane way Josh. Too fancy for cows. Thanks for sharing.
Scott Alberta 🇨🇦
S&C Livestock on RUclips
You’ve got your laying rock system down with that 4 in 1.
super easy!! Now I've still got a big pile of gravel to spread...thinking of doing the neighbor's drive
The only thing I could suggest is a dump trailer. I love my 16ft Sure-Trac dump trailer.
$8k and another piece to maintain.....I couldn't even consider driving much more weight on the ground where I was loading up...dump trailers are nice, but taking a little more time wasn't too bad. I could have hired my buddy to come work for a few hours with his big dump truck...but this was just too fun 👍
looks like a nice spot to start dumping larger rocks off the side of that culvert as Riff Raff/Breakwater to prevent erosion.
Looks good.
thanks buddy!
Great job Josh !
Something to think about…
Do you think it's a good idea, to stabilize both sides of the culvert with large rock. So you don't have a lot of erosion in the creek bed ?
Because I have seen a lot other people do that.
I think it is a good idea, but I'm not an expert.
picking up field stones today for that very purpose
Good work !
You did a nice job. Jim80
That dirt was some sticky stuff. Look great all finished like that.
very sticky!!! Clay
Looks awesome
Always enjoy watching the vids!
Always nice to see what it takes to do things with various equipment, and its always a treat.
Glad you enjoy it!
Thanks for takin the time to film.
Nice video 🙋♂️❤️👍
looks good.
One suggestion I have for you is show more of that cattle life like that calf you talked about. I do understand that picking up the Camara when that's going on doesn't always work and it's the last thing we think of. Great mini series though. I've built a lot of little roads and it's always kinda fun.
yeppers...I do more on the cattle operation over on facebook.com/stoneyridgefarmer seems the actual cattle farming content isn't interesting anymore to folks on the main youtube channel for some reason...come join me live at 2:30 this afternoon!
Josh looks excellent another path to make things go smoother with the girls and boys also yourself 😮😊❤
Man you need bigger truck duels wheel, great job 👍👍🇬🇧
oh we got'r done no worries
Need airbags and reinforce the GREEN truck chassis 👍
You have all the cool tools!! You did a great job on the crossing! The Georgia DOT could learn a thing or two from you.
Looking great josh lot of stress gone!
Thanks 👍
Very nice Stoney, God Bless !!!👍
👍 Thanks
Respect for your project/job planning skills. You come across as very organized and prepared. I have a quick question: Did you have to do any excavation prior to placing the culvert pipe in the creek? The project came out excellent by the way.
this was a project planned over 5 years ago....I put the gates where the gully was best suited for a crossing....i've got one more crossing to build on the other side of the farm soon too
Looks good. Are you planning on putting rip rap on the banks on either side of the roadway to prevent erosion in spring floods? Normally the clay would be fine I would imagine, but flood waters can make short work of that road. just a thought. Well done Sir!
Good Morning Josh,Ed from Vermont
Hey Josh! Although it took a lot of effort & time... it was worth it! Well Done!
well worth it! I'll be moving the cows across next week!!
Josh, when you are working the bucket trying to get all of the dirt out, that is putting a lot of stress on the bushings. I am sure you do but it is a must that you keep plenty of grease in those joints and keep a good eye on the bushing wear. I have seen so many non operators in the past too lazy to grease a machine and when it comes to replacing bushings, the they don't fit anymore causing a lot of work welding or filling in the wear so the new bushings will fit. JS
Great point!
bottom of the 7th , with a rain delay
Awesome job Josh! Loved this series. If ypu hired this job out, how much do you think it woulda cost? I kept thinking you sure save alot by being able to do so much of your own work. Wooh!!❤
probably cost $5k to hire it done....but I wouldn't even consider hiring this done unless I already had the land clearing contractor here on the farm
Good Morning Josh, Greg and Sheree from Nova Scotia. Love your channel.
thanks brother!
Love the fast versions good stuff 😂
Man that truck should haul more than that you need to do some work on it
3/4 ton truck my friend...it would haul...but the dump bed wouldn't dump it...cylinder and pump woudn't push that hard
Hi I was at the western farm show and one of the company was using your videos to show it off I thought that was cool
awesome!!! I'll bet that was Wingfield American Harrow!
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer yep it was
❤❤❤❤
👍
Looks great. About how many hours do you think you have into it?
oh.....30 or so...plus 10 hours of editing!
Interesting video.
I'm all for making use of one's available tools, but did you not consider hiring a dumper to move all that clay ?
In terms of time, money, and effort required, you'd have moved twice as much material in half the time...
took me a couple days and $40 worth of fuel to get the job done...wasn't bad my friend....sometimes we just gotta be self sufficient
I commend you with all that fast play video and editing. Shows your gusto too! It goes so fast, it's like watching a sculpture video. Happy 4 you! Wooo! Dumb question: Is there a chance a cow could trip and fall into creek? Not a Rancher myself.
cows do get themselves into trouble from time to time, but remember...they are pretty in tune with keeping good footing in most cases. I'd say no more of a chance of a cow tripping into the creek than a squirrel falling out of a tree my friend....they're not the brightest...but self preservation is good motivation for not falling lol
Is that truck a c-15? Is the loader bucket a one yard ? Very impressive.
2500 old home depot truck
R you going to fence it to keep the cows on the lane ?
I'll use temporary cross fencing
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer I thought u would wasn't sure if u would make more permanent , or none . Great job with your RUclips and don't let pos's get to ya
You started out to build a “cow path”. Then you got an idea to make it just a little bit better
At end of the video, was that the electric tractor.? I was thinking it was leaving the farm.
yep...it's here...and they havn't come to get it
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer thanks
You're the hardest working farmer I know, sir!!
🏆 🏆 🏆
Is he the only one you know? 🤣
@@baumsquad222 - ?? Dude, seriously? I'm not going to name off his competition. But, he IS my favorite farmer. Appalachia's Homestead is my favorite homesteader. Next Level Gardening is my favorite gardener.
Explore your world, my dude..
@@ShortbusMooner oh so you only know people on RUclips, got it.
@@baumsquad222 - Ummm, no. That wasn't stipulated, Mongo. My first job was working on a farm for my high school years, and I go to an organic farm to u-pick every weekend, and have for decades.
Maybe you need a language comprehension course, kiddo. The Adderall is gumming up your brain..
lol....I wouldn't say that .....one lonely farmer works alot more than me! That I can guarantee!
Where is the big international dump truck?
sold! Kept getting stuck!!
Now don’t complain if strangers use this road …see another gate install in future vid.
After they get through the main gate?
why would anyone need to use this road other than me? I guess everyone thinks everything is public property nowadays right
How come you didn’t use very large lime stone rocks to pack around your culvert?? You must not get very much water in the creek ?? I had to build one like that! The culvert was so big you could drive a car thru it, lol even put in three two foot diameter culverts for a run off !! Started with 100 pound , then 4x5 stones, then two inch, finally a one inch minus for the top part!! If I could down load a picture or video I would send you a video
yep.....I've got rocks here for sure....we'll go back and layer with natural stones on both sides once the dirt settles a bit ....4 ft pipe has proven plenty for this little seasonal runoff area..typically very very little water coming through
You need a bigger dump truck! Contact Matt over at Diesel Creek he can hook you up with something reasonable.
yep....I'm cool lol Had a bigger truck, kept gettting stuck every time I used it so I got a smaller more manageable truck
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸💪💪💪💪💪💪
Where’s your big dump truck
sold! Got tired of getting stuck in it! lol
Mike Morgan would have finished that project in about 3.5 hours. Know what I mean?
yep....Mike is a great guy....but he's not running a farm, love his content
Dump truck can't handle much weight, can it?😅
3/4 ton old home depot truck so it's not made to haul much weight
one more thing josh get a 2 wheel drive ford older than your peice of crap raptor :) do much better than your :) chevy sorry GMC OR CHEVY :)
yep...a 2wd truck on a farm might as well be a boat anchor my friend...you see me get stuck in this vid?
Might want to add riprap around your culverts.
got tons of stones to pick up in the pastures....they'll all be put to good use
