I’m not exactly sure how I feel about this movie. I went in completely blind, expecting a space mission story, so I was a bit disappointed when it turned out to be more of a psychological thriller. I suppose it’s sometimes a good idea to read a synopsis before watching. That was my issue with Cuckoo-going in completely blind ended up hurting my overall experience. One positive was Casey Affleck’s performance. I think he did a great job in his role. On the downside, the pacing was a problem. The movie felt very slow until the end, and the payoff wasn’t worth the wait. While the love story was decent, it wasn’t strong enough to keep me invested in the overall story. I’m just waiting for another movie in space where the story is about a mission instead of human conflict.
I loved this one. But I think the resources storyline was put in because this was supposed to a film about those Mars probes with humans that are said be coming eventually. I think this film would have been too on the nose if it did that and SpaceX might find it discouraging in finding someone to do it if they put it out there like that. Top 5 of this year for me.
@@michael_weer Yes, I suspect it started as a script for something closer to that and got modified. I thought it was "Event Horizon 2.0" from the trailer and this was a nice surprise. There was more about the human experience in a sci-fi movie than many other films I have seen.
correction titan is not a planet it's one of Saturn's moons. I really Enjoyed this movie The love story was told really well and they did not force that at all a good balance between the love story and the mission. The acting was so good i think Laurance Fishburn was the best out of the 4 and the twist at the end did not see that coming at all. One of the better space movies in a while.
This was one of the worst movies I’ve seen this year for me. The movie lacked substance in my opinion and had a lot of cringy moments. Laurence Fishburne’s role in this was strange and had me laughing at almost all his lines. When he pulled out the gun I laughed too. I didn’t like the “mean boss” persona he portrayed at all.
I’m sorry this one didn’t work for you. I liked the performances all around and there’s a good chance that the captain was a made up character in John’s mind so him being an over the top mean boss was one end of the spectrum while Nash was nervous and scared at the polar opposite end of the spectrum. John was caught between them in his mind. The captain represented John’s his resolve to finish the mission and Nash represented his want to get home and be with his girlfriend. This is just what I took away from this flick. To each their own tho. I appreciate you watching my video!
@@michael_weer I understand the representation of the characters but by the time that was known, it was too late in the movie for me. I think they could have kept that representation of Laurence’s character but portrayed him in a different way that didn’t seem like a joke. I will say though the ending was good and the idea of the movie was great.

Interesting. I wonder if they changed it to make the plot simpler for the viewer since the mission was never really the main plot of the film.

@@A_RUclips_Commenter definitely. Gave me interstellar vibes. (Just on a much smaller budget)

@@michael_weer I might have to watch this movie again knowing what I know now and I may see it differently.
@@jfrigz2294 yeah, I’d love to watch it again just to see if there are hints throughout the film.
