      @@TriGogglin I work at one of the Menards stores. John Menard (owner and CEO) REALLY takes his trains seriously. We are strictly told to keep a close eye on that area to make sure it looks nice and neat. Also taking down the train section early to prepare for incoming summer toys is a BIG no no. Not to mention that Menards hosts a train show in Eau Claire WI every summer.

    Being into Model Trains and Auto Racing, always was aware of Menards, but never been to one since they are only in the mid east, finally went into one when on vacation in South Dakota in 2019 , wish we had those here in CA. Saw this in my reccommended and glad I clicked on it. O gauge BN flatcars. Much as I am not a huge fan of Menards O gauge (The track is workable for most people probably, but as fastidious as I am about clean rail, I find the metal they use has to be much more frequently cleaned than 100 year old O gauge rail I have) I do need a pair of cheapie BN flatcars to use as idlers on either side of a K-Line BN gondola, an ex-Marx tooling car that has working drop ends. Got a long pipe load for that car that needs idler flats and I am reluctant to take the trailers away from my MPC era Lionel BN TOFC flatcars.

      In my opinion I think the menards trains and buildings look good. I think what they are going for is not the detailed model person but the average person just wanting a cheap decent train for a Christmas village or under the tree for the holidays. Or just maybe a person just getting started in the hobby and dont want ti break the bank. I think some people in the comments are being to critical of the quality or the cheap appearance possibly. But for most.. these are decent looking trains, and if they did them in N scale I sure would buy some....

This was in the 80's and the 90's and as a kid have great memories of building the whole table top with my brothers and my father. What I liked about that company back then was that all the building came in a little blue orange box disassembled and you had to build it all yourself, put all the signage on etc. I see nowadays they just selling whole buildings and that's not as much fun :)

I have sufficient space - but I was wondering (therefore my question to you) how would you compare prices between H0 and 2 rail O scale track/equipment and so forth. Is 2 rail O scale DOUBLE the price of Ho or perhaps even more costly or .. Thank you.

    • @TriGogglin
      @TriGogglin  Год назад

      Hello Johnathan, ooh you are definitely going to have to research this. O scale is considerably higher in price, you can get used good equipment from eBay and places like that. Some O scale detail accessories are hard to find. And O takes up a considerable amount of space. I would find a good hobby store that carries both O and HO and look at the details of each, see what scale perks your interest. The most popular scale is HO and can pretty much find everything thing could want for a model. I don't want to sway your decision. HO you can fit alot of track and details in a good size space. Watch a few videos of people who model those 2 scales and see what you might prefer and reach out to them in their comments on the pros and cons of their scales. I run N scale. You can fit a lot I'm a small space. The engines are close in price to the HO but the major con is availability of products and the small sizes makes it difficult to work with.. you can find a lot of joy in both O and HO.. O is big and beefy and the size alone makes you happy lol but the HO scale is highly detailed and looks really good, and that makes you happy to look at them.. I know I wasn't much help but . Yes O scale is of higher prices and takes a lot of space... appreciate you watching... good luck. Stop back and let me know what you Decide to do...

      Can't imagine they'd ever do "N." Too small, stores are filled with shoppers and small boys. The boys don't go for tiny trains, but grown-ups do. We have one here in St. Joseph, MO. Very big new one in nicest S. Kansas City. Very classy stores. Staff, etc. above average. Dec. 12, 2022.

      This video was November of 2022. So a few things have changed. But this store is in Reynoldsburg Ohio. I halve been on the menards website and if you put on O scale trains, some times the catalog will pop up. Some times not.. I noticed that they only been doing HO scale buildings and havnt seen any rolling stock or track anymore.. appreciate you watching Good luck

      During the summer some stores take out that section for the summer pool stuff or outdoor stuff, take a look up stairs. Sometimes it will be up there, but should be back on the shelves closer to Christmas

    Menards needs to make "O" Gauge rubber roadbed for their "O" Gauge tubular track.
