  • Brief intro to my new GWG-1000-1A3 Mudmaster. Wanted a beast watch with great features after messing around in the G-Shock Squares world I decided to take the plunge into a Master of G.
    Purchased from Watchoutz in Hong Kong. Excellent folks there.
    Enjoy

      @@musiclaw1486 Thank you so much! I didn't know i could ever time-sync using Multiband6 as my country lies outside the reception area!! It was a real shame that this higher end Mudmaster had no Bluetooth G-Shock Connect support but this is mitigated by the use of Multiband 6 via a mobile phone app thats just incredible!

    i have this exact watch since 2015 and till today it's still going strong with rarely visible usermark. Don't need to even think or bother about battery and i know time will always be accurate due to the multiband 6. Such a beauty and beast of a watch!!

    I use the barometer all the time to assess if bad weather is moving in or clear weather is holding steady. Though this won’t work if changing altitudes while hiking it works great in camp or on the water.

    I was looking at this exact model, but then decided to get the slightly smaller/sleeker Protrek PRW-7000. I believe it has all or similar features, but gives you sapphire and a different wearing experience. But I do love this one.

    Actually, the carbon fiber insert in the band makes it more pliable and soft, resulting in superior comfort.
    But GWG-1000 is super comfy even without it. Best G-Shock of them all and one of the greatest watches ever.

  • @ianmaw66

    The temperature gauge will require you to take the watch off your wrist for a while. Otherwise your body heat warms the watch and throws the temperature measurement off. I don't see a way to avoid this, from an engineering point of view.

    • @djpharoah7XL
      @djpharoah7XL  3 года назад

    I owned and enjoyed this one but eventually had to admit defeat due to its sheer clunkiness on the wrist and/or with any long sleeve clothing. Moved to the G-Shock squares with the modern 3459 modules as they cover all the time, world time and timer/alarm functions much more elegantly. Sure, no barometer/altitude stuff but I don’t miss it.

    • @djpharoah7XL
      @djpharoah7XL  Год назад +1

      They have a certain cool factor. The 1000 series is legit a chonky watch - the 2000 is a lot more wearable if you’re after the presence. Otherwise good luck with the tons of squares which are equally capable just less features 🤙🏼

    I own this watch... I see lots of flaws with it.... it's too bad because it's a perfectly looking SHTF type of watch.. I love it esthetically... BUT... lots of features are useless... for instance I've tested the altimeter and compared it with my Garmin GPS... it's not accurate at all.. even after calibration, it needs to be recalibrated constantly.... so what's the point? the temp mode... if you can't wear the watch while you need temp readings what's the point? next thing that i feel it's a bummer is the countdown timer... only 60 mins? wtf? I mean what's the cost for Casio having a 24h countown ? and last... you can't see shit on that reverse display... it sure looks cool but wtf ? even the illumination sucks... I thought at this price point they would figure it out a little better. I like the watch but I would think again before buying it. ...oh and atomic time doesn't work.. another useless feature since I don't live near the towers. The crown thing is stupid... don't forget to screw it back in if you go under water.

    • @djpharoah7XL
      @djpharoah7XL  3 года назад +1

      Valid points. The thermometer works after 20min off wrist. The illumination seems to be better suited for the dial. For the lack of Mb6 reception there are many apps you can run on your smart phone to mimic the signal.
