He was the sweetest, most unassuming guy. He really did have a high powered riffle for an arm. I remember the big sores on his elbows (during the season) from the AstroTurf that never healed. No matter what happened after his career, he deserves to be remembered for the incredible player he was.
The perfect stride. The ability to catch over either shoulder. The speed. The blond hair flying out of the back of the helmet. If you were a suburban white kid in the '70s, Golden Richards gave you hope you could play wide receiver with style and flair. He was fun to watch.
Oh I remember Golden Richards. To me just seemed like they didnt use him enough.. I was so sorry to hear he had passed away. He was a good looking man wished he would have played for Dallas a lot longer.
Golden ran another punt for a touchdown in 1975 against the eagles. I have not seen it posted on youtube though. Also it would be interesting to see the episodes of ESPN Outdoors that we co-hosted in 1981.

My all time favorite player. Such a tragic life after football.
Just want you to know, he was a good friend and just the sweetest guy.
Beautiful tribute! Finished with a nice instrumental!
I'm a kid of the 70s, loved the Cowboys n Golden Richards.. RIP brother
I remember the ‘76 home game when Golden’s dad had a heart attack in the stands. He did recover.

He always came up with a big play when they needed it. Great speed, 4.3 guy.
Golden Richards Was The Man.
That dude was awesome back in the day. Browns fan from akron. For real he had a great 2 or 3 years in Dallas.

GREAT TRIBUTE , PROBABLY WOULDVE WI=ON SUPERBOWL 13 IF HE HAD STAYED WITH DALLAS
GOLDEN WAS THE FASTEST COWBOY FASTER THAN DORSETT
A fantastic talent, second to Roger Carr as the gamebreaking fast w**** flanker.
