- 🚨BREAKING: Phillies acquire LHP Jesus Luzardo for SS Starlyn Caba and CF Emaarion Boyd🚨
Merry Christmas, Phillies fans and welcome to Philly, Jesus Luzardo! The Phillies and Marlins have made a rare intra-division trade involving the left-handed starter. Just two seasons ago, Luzardo started a playoff game in Citizens Bank Park. Now, he'll have that same crowd in his corner.
1.04 WHIP* not ERA lol. Could also mean they flip Ranger this year
Noooooooooooo Ranger must NEVER LEAVE
If he can get back to where he was, the Phillies will have something. The talent is there.
Absolutely, Robert! I think Cotham should be able to get him back to where he was and maybe even better. Just comes down to health.

I like this trade. Hopefully Luzardo can stay healthy. 2024 was rough for him. When healthy, he's a great guy to have in the back of the rotation.
Paul McIntosh was a nice add in the deal. Perhaps we will see him when rosters expand later in 2025.
I like this move too, I think a healthy Luzardo is a huge add for this rotation especially with Ranger on the last year of his deal. If he performs well, they could extend him and you have a really nice trio of Painter, Sanchez, Luzardo set to take over whenever Wheeler/Nola get older.
@@phillyinsiderpodcast Hoping we get to see fewer Walker starts in 2025. :)
With the Joe Ross signing, it is looking like that could be a reality
@@phillyinsiderpodcast Christmas came early for Phillies fans! :)
Indeed!
This is a nice move
Agreed, Mike! Welcome to the channel btw!
@phillyinsiderpodcast thank you! Glad to be here.
We’re glad to have you! Merry Christmas!
On paper, love the trade. Cotham can develop this kid even further.
Agreed, 2 years of control too.
Now thats the dave dombroski we all know
Still not confident enough in the lineup but this is a very nice move
And we got a catcher which could help with the Jt workload
Who?
C/OF Paul McIntosh
Paul McIntosh looks interesting. His 2024 AA starts look okay. Looks like a potential late 2025 call-up.
He dodged a bullet by not signing with the Angels when they drafted him in 2018, choosing instead to attend college at West Virginia. lol
Not sure if he’ll help w the JT workload this year but maybe in time. Could be a call up tho
This is what I’m talking about
Yessir! Love this trade
I hope we can make another move , we need another bullpen arm to replace Hoffman & Estevez.
I hope so too but it looks unlikely. If they could trade for an arm or add another cheap option in FA, that'd be nice. Doesn't sound like they'll be going over the 4th tax threshold.
@@phillyinsiderpodcast Tanner Scott is the arm to do it for
I probably wouldn’t. He’s very good but still walks a ton of guys, I would not overpay for him.
@@phillyinsiderpodcast Do you see them making anymore moves? Like trades? My crazy trade was to send Bohm and maybe a prosecpt or 2 to the angels for Trout while the angels eat a lot of the contract. They can let Sosa & Clemons play third until Miller is ready.
I don’t think they make anymore more moves. Bohm can be frustrating but for a guy making $8M, he’s very productive. Don’t really want Trout at this point and I’d like to give Miller another year. I don’t think they’d do all that well w Clemens & Sosa.
Who?
Was one of the better pitchers in baseball in 2022 and 2023.
