Thank you . Extremely well explained. My problem solved in minutes after viewing your video. i wish I'd gone to you tube first instead of wasting about 10 minutes jiggling the stuck key -at night -out side in below zero temperatures. we are in the bush and a long way from any Locksmiths so THANK YOU again
OMG We spend hours trying to get our key out. then I used your tip and it worked. Thank youuuuu!

You are awesome, saved my 100$ ❤
THANK YOU SO MUCH THIS WAS A LIFESAVER
If you look carefully at the end of this video, it looks like Dr. Lock actually has a bit of trouble pulling out the key after he tightened the pair of screws at the back of the cylinder. He said the two screws need to be tightened very tight. But you might not want them so tight, because the plug (a.k.a. core) might need to portrude slightly forward (around 1/32 inch) in order for the plug's pins to align well with the holes above them when pulling out the key. If that's the case, replacing the two screws with screws that are a slightly different length, or inserting very thin shim washers between the screws and the cylinder back, might allow you to fully tighten the screws and have the plug end up in the optimal, slightly portruding position.
An important step that's missing from this video is how to remove the cylinder from the lock in order to access the two loose screws on its backside. It would help to include a link to a video that shows how to remove the cylinder.
This saved me from having to reorganize my entire morning. Thank you for making this video.
I was about to say this didn’t work for me but then I turned my key 180 degrees and it slid out easy peasy
Thank you for making this video!
What if the key doesn't turn into the 12 o clock position?
So, did it get solved? Also stuck here, it wont go to 12 oclock rotation
Mine is stuck 180°, and it doesn't want to turn fully, otherwise I could remove the whole lock - NEVERMIND got mine replaced
@@alluuu2947 just like mine.180° and can't move
Life saving vid. Thank you for uploading!
omg you saved my life, thank you
IT WORKS! Most helpful video I have found on getting key out of lock. Straight & to the point. Thank you.
You are awesome! Thank you! My key is now free 🙂
Great video, tried it out and it worked. Thank you.
I have an Ultion lock that can be a bit of a nightmare for removing the key when unlocking and locking the door.
it makes me really anxious every time I put the key in the door.
The key has to be exactly in the 12 o clock position but even then I'm having to wriggle it a little bit to remove the key
Thanks Dr Lock done a d fixed
Thanks champion you safe me time and money
Thanks a lot!!!
Thank you so much, I was about to break my entire door down.
Ya.... I saved another door,,, good to see it helped and it all worked out well
What if it won't go perpendicular? Pushing on the center doesn't help. Now, this is a car lock that is not secured to the door (I'm changing the handle), but even if I hold the cylinder with my hand from the inside, I can't get the key to get all the way straight up-and-down (only a degree or two shy of it). So I presume that's why it won't come out.
car lock and house lock, the key needs to go back to the start position to remove the key.
@@DrLockShop Thanks. I have the handle and lock out, but still can't get the key out. Any thoughts?

Never mind, I got it. The cylinder - somehow - got turned so that a pin that was keeping it from rotating far enough had gotten pushed around/over a nob that it wasn't supposed to go past. I lifted the pin over the nob, allowing the cylinder to turn farther, and the key came out.
Thank you! Saved me from going nuts 😜👍🏼
I’m trying this at this very same moment and I still can’t get it out
had similar problem but was a key that was left there for years, pulling it out wasent possible locktight dint work. could not enter far enought.
had to remove the cylinder and oil it back and front, spin key around a few times now its out.
I have a similar lock and the flange at the back has come loose so cant open the pins in the door in to thw wall... can i drill it trough to take the whole thing out and replace it? Plus i have no access to the other side of the door . Thanks.
Thanks it worked 3🙂
Thank you so much! This saved us today
My hero!!!! Thank you!!
Worked perfectly, thanks for the help
Thank you....worked perfectly.
Thank you so much for the video i almost buy a holl new door
This just saved me Thank you
My key won’t go into a twelve o’clock position it just stays in a three o clock
sorry too hard to say
@@DrLockShop I have two the one on the front door goes to the 3 o'clock and the one on the back door goes to the 12 o'clock position, and as long as I treat them like they do work in different ways, I can get them out. It drove me nuts for a long time, but now I believe they will both work.
Lock it in then try
Thank you sir it worked on my padlock.
God Yahweh bless you.
My key is stuck but won't turn and get aligned to the 12 o'clock position. Any suggestions?
Hi, great video but my lock barrel in the cylinder won’t pop back in to the cylinder so I can’t get back to 12 o’clock? Any ideas?
Remove the cylinder and see what is going on, missing a cam screw I guess
Thank you !
WORKED.. I Really appreciate it
Thank you so much it worked
My wife has put the wrong key in the garage lock and now it's stuck and won't come out. Any ideas?
Mine is still not coming out, what do i do? The little circle won't budge please help
thanks dr lock
I failed on step 1, my key won’t turn to the position where it can be removed 🥺
Thank you
Thankyou so much for this video
THANK YOU
Thanks alot sir
Hi Dr Lock, thanks for the nice vids. I undid those screws and then it jammed up on me. anyway to rectify that problem? one of the guide pins can pop out, as the keys come out that far... but that's it. :(
You just needed to tighten them
@@DrLockShop tried that, had shims for my bike and tried that. after broke key off to get out of housing, hoping it would push through. still nothing. :(
Mine is stuck in the horizontal position, won't budge the other way
I have sliding doors and I added an upper lock door jam and the key is stuck inside and it won’t move at all it’s stuck in left to right not in 12 o’clock position how to I get key out?
Sounds like you will need to call a local locksmith to have a look
Dr Lock cant afford that. also door is locked and i cant remove the lock. help
Thanks I hope you solved my bike issue. Will check tomorrow.
bike lock is a different system
Thank you it worked
In my case, there are no screws to re-tighten. But no big deal. The key was pulling the inner cylinder outward, and that caused the lockup. Thus the key was at war with the inner cylinder. To resolve this problem, one must stop the key from grabbing on to the inner cylinder. So I took a lead pencil and put plenty of graphite on the key, and then inserted and removed the key several times. I repeated this graphite application to the key twice, along with the multiple reinsertions of the key. Bingo, the graphite now acts as a slippery lubricant, and so the key no longer grabs the inner cylinder and thus no longer pulls it outward. Now the key just flies out with ease.
Graphite dose not fix, something at the back of the cylinder is allowing the inner part to move too much "forward", the pins can not slide up as the top chamber holes are not alined, graphite is just a lubricant, you still have a problem, I would check it
@@DrLockShop Like I said, the key now goes in, and comes out, easier that it has before in the past 16 years of which I have lived in my apartment. The lock had been in use for well over 35 years and any lubricant had surpassed its life limits. A car engine will not do well if you remove the oil. That does not mean that there is something wrong with the engine itself. Just add oil, and bingo, things are back to norm. For instance, If you add a lubricant to the word "Dose", its letters will automatically reorder themselves back to the proper order of "Does".
@@new-knowledge8040 Hi, a car engine is designed to use oil, a lock cylinder inline pin cylinder does not need lubricant if its correct and was not designed to need a lubricant to be added. The lubricant is allowing the misaligned parts to slide past the point of contact and be felt less. But if it works and you can use the lock then it's all good, and if it saves you from having to the lock part then its a good temporary fix. But for me as a Locksmith, it would not be classed as repaired. Most of the time the repair is just as easy, If you send post a link of your lock, I can do a video to show the fix
Thank you. It worked! 👍🏼
So I was just not think right today lol. Trying to take the key out as soon as I unlock it and not turning it back
yea just work thanks alot!
Omg my circle and key are stuck any solution?
I put wrong key in lock and it wont go out, what should l do?
Hi! thank you for this. could you also help with a cylinder lock.. where in order to get key out once you lock the door... is to go back to the unlock position ONLY .. which renders the door unlocked too... LOL ... yip. thank you!
Sounds like the back tail of the cylinders are not in the right spot, turn both towards the hinge and put back on door
LEGEND!!!!!
What if the cylinder doesn’t turn and it’s stuck at a 11-10’o-clock position?
its jammed , bent lock mechanism is my best guess, you need a new lock
@@DrLockShop yeah I took out the pins and springs from the lock. Only way to get the key out.
I cant open the door because im stucked in,they key has stucked in the locker, what should I do?
You need to call a local locksmith
I install the padlock and I cannot take the key out when I lock it
Still not opening.. the key is in a 9.0clock position by default
What to do when it doesn't get to the 12 o'clock position?
What if it's jammed at 2 o'clock
THANK YOU SO MUCH.
Halp, mine is small and rusty and it wont press 😭 it would rotate to 2pm when i press it
remove the lock and check
How to unstuck it when it stuck in 10oclock position
Wait till it moves to 6" o'clock
my problem is I went to unlock and it stopped at 11 o'clock and then 9 o'clock position only and now the key is stuck.
different problem
I've tried this but the key won't come out ..help😩
What if I can't rotate it?
Mine is not turning to 12'o clock position
what advantage of these modern locks, old locks worked much better ...
Hopefully that's the problem with my old Land Rover style key which is stuck in the lock.
Fucking masterful!!! I was about to rip this door off!!!
what if I can't turn the key to the 12 o clock position?
Remove the cylinder and check the cam on the back of the cylinder
@@DrLockShop thank you
How tf is this gonna help me open my door I don't even know where I am anymore
Key will not go back to 12 o clock it's stuck at 2
That looks like a LOCKWOOD lock!
