/ discord In this video we install the UDM Pro by Ubiquiti and we also install a unifi us-24 switch. For cable management we use two unloaded patch panels with keystone jacks and we use 6 inch slim patch cables.
In the next video we will be configuration the UDM pro , access points, switch and creating firewall rules

i waiting the next video.
Thank u bro
Nice job, Cody! It's like having my own personal engineer for setting up a home network. Keep these videos this simple! I know you mentioned Synology, but you're busy with UniFi videos right now. Do you think, in the future, you can do a Synology video with how you set yours up for your home? I'm interested in how it works when it comes to file sharing, virtual machines on it, media server capablities, etc... basically anything that the average person who has a home where they want to keep everything in a central location (Synology NAS) and be able to access it from the home or when away from home. Thanks bud!
Hey ya I’m planning on doing more Synology once the network is setup.
In the near future I’m hoping to deploy a 10gb network with the NAS having 10GB connections as well
Congrat! I starting now install UI. Led... (I will upload the video...)
Finally buying my first rack and going to Ubiquiti for home use. Been watching a lot of your videos. My rack is going to be installed against 2x4s that are attached to concrete basement wall. The Tripp Lite case I bought recommends to ground to earth. Did you ground your case? All I'm going to have is PDU, USW Switch, and UDM Pro. Some other stuff will be on a 2u shelf including cable modem, synology nas, and Raspberry pi.
Hey I didn’t ground this rack. I just ordered a new rack that is coming in Friday: I will be grounding that .
Have fun with the setup! If you’re on Twitter send me a pic when it’s done I’d love to see

i know you've done VLAN videos in the past but that's my biggest pet peeve. if you can do a vlan video for dummies and talk slowly it would be awesome.
amazing rig as usual. i copied pretty much the exact same build as yours down to the 6' cables
I notice I do talk fast ive been mindful to try and slow down.
I can try and do a vlan for beginners video. I’ll get it out after I finish the next video as I need to get my network up and running
If you just use two screws, please do the lower ones. If you do the top ones, the rules of gravity and lever will try to bend the rack ears. The lower ones force the rack ears top against the frame, this will help holding your gear because of friction. It may be not that important on short 1U equipment, but you will feel the difference on long or 2U and up. Don't get used to this.
I use all the screws they may have been missing in this video but they are there
@@MactelecomNetworks I'm aware of that, I was talking about initial install. You used like a cross pattern. Even (or especially) for temporary installs: Bottom ones first. Always. Just my experience.
@@sko3225 you know your physics. Great comment.
Nice work - this is a very clean and tidy network rack!! I particularly like the look of the slim Cat6a patch cables.
Quick question for you - did you have to use slim keystone jacks in the keystone patch panel, or do the standard ones fit?
Hey thanks. I’m just using standard keystones jacks
sorry to be offtopic but does anybody know of a way to get back into an instagram account?
I stupidly lost my login password. I would love any tricks you can offer me!
@Brock Victor Instablaster :)
@Duncan Julio i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm trying it out atm.
I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Duncan Julio it worked and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thanks so much, you saved my ass!
Nice job, I M new to UDM pro UDM 24 port POE. What was the connection tou use for ethernet and for switch. Do tou have a link to what fiber connection
Nice rig bruh!... hey, n00b question for ya... if ya plug multiple nano hd APs into ya switch (since it is only connected to 1gbe)... Is that not going to limit the bandwidth / reliability compared to plugging them straight into the UDM Pro with POE Injectors?
HellGoodDoogz naw there will be no problem any way is fine the switch’s have controllers
Had you thought of using a unifi USP RPS. I have seen reviews on them but not sure which is the best way to go as apposed to a standard ups box.
Ian Denholm hey I have but don’t think they are available in Canada yet
Do you need a DAC cable or can you use a RJ45 port from UDM to the switch?
For home use will UDM PRO switch be good enough for 1gbps links?
I hear every port is shared and will slow down with multiple devices transferring files
Hey Cody, can you do a video on unifi remote user vpn being setup with an Android Phone? Since most users myself included have been able to set it up on ios with ease but android seems to be difficult.
Can you do a video on how to integrate a PFsense into your network like you have it with your UDM pro?
Hey Kyle. Are you meaning like showing the cabling between the PFsense and the switch and then configuration?
I already have videos of getting started with PFsense, then other videos showing how to create networks and vlans with PFsense connecting to unifi switches
Getting started with PFsense :
ruclips.net/video/6wvLKczVDVk/видео.html
Creating vlans on PFsense and unifi :

Great Video! But why do you have two patch panels? Especially when you can have all connections through one?
Cable management. I use 6 inch cables and since all the port are on the right 6 inch wouldn’t work with just one
So the SFP port doesn't support 10Gbps? I'm not understanding why you would hard limit to 1Gbps on the trunk.
You would still want to give the trunk more bandwidth even if each access port is 1G
Curious what you don't like about cage nuts?
Just an extra step I’d rather not take to install. Some of them are a little difficult to get in/out of the rack
Cage nuts - the work of Satan himself. However, Rackstuds are a much tider solution to the problem. Try them once and you'lll never go back to cage nuts.
Why didn't you get the Gen 2 24 Port?
At the time was because of money. But I have a gen 2 24 port poe pro now
Since when are you doing "networking stuff"?
Try4Hard like how long have I been doing it? I started with network cabling about 15 years ago doing voice and data networks, security cabling and cameras.
Then I got into computer networking about 7-8 years ago. Went to school, got Cisco certifications and then just started doing my own thing
2:25 - that's what she said
Nice views of everything you are not actually talking about
