A term coined by the British press, shoegaze is meant to describe a scene of bands whose overwhelming amount of pedals led them to simply stare at their shoes while playing on stage.
I'll gaze your shoe, Buster.
Thanks for your service during the pandemic.
There are a lot of these shows, but I appreciate your honesty, humor, and non parlor-trick playing. You just love playing & it’s obvious. ☮️
You're getting some real Godspeed tones when you include that fuzz. Gorgeous.
Those reverb settings are clearly R(ed) H(ot) C(hilli) and P(epper). Always love a good pepper 'verb.
i realize Im pretty randomly asking but does anyone know of a good place to stream newly released movies online?

Great demo. Was really only after the ambience pedal, but that last few minutes has me sold on both
The Fuzz Cream and the Ambience together kills! Sounds like attack of the killer beez in the tunnel of Doom. Love it.
The sounds around 14-15 minutes in are *amazing*
Great demo and soundscapes.😀
Yea man!! Finally getting your hands on a fazy cream! My fav setting is fuzz down to about 10 o’clock and tone up to 3 o’clock. It’s a muff style fuzz but it cleans up pretty well with the volume knob turned down. You should try it. Not as clean as a fuzz face circuit but it works on a pinch. But versatility wise I find it the most versatile cheap fuzz. I can imitate multiple fuzz pedals I have with the fazy cream. Rock on!
im glad you like it my friend. You seemed to like it the way i do with the reverse with church makes for awesome ambiance.
The word that comes to mind with that plate sound is "splatter"
I'm really glad you did this review, I was looking around for cheap reverb/delay combos to for a kinda everyday all around "I just want a nice clean guitar" sound, and this is a pretty good contender.
You really let 'er rip with that wall of sound goodness at the end there
The prices and features match up to the Amazon pedals well, a good compliment.
Love the childproof packaging 😂🤣
Amazing shoe gaze sounds. I was getting a bit of pink floyd vibes from some of the combos
Should've tried Reverb into the Fuzz to really get the Gaze going.
reverb into fuzz, nice... why did i never try that before....
@@KrumpusPlunk thats the shoegaze trick
Because “shoegaze” is just a buzzword for him and he has no idea what it even means
The Sonicake delay's sound quality is surprisingly good. I've never tried the others.
"I'm just playing nonsense" So am I bud! That's all I ever play lol but sometimes it turns into a cool riff for a song...that's all I have, just parts of songs one day I'll try put them together haha
Or maybe you Just Take a small Part of a Song and repeat it for about 3 Minutes!
That's exactly me lol, I keep saying I'm gonna write em down too but ig we'll see
Man I'm a noodler and have been for 40 years. I play for me and my dogs lol. I'm not a band guy or a serious dedicated musician. But I love the guitar and love playing them every chance I get.
I liked Sonicake's effect brick fingy with the verb, delay, drive, and chorus on, and almost bought one for $40. It was the reverb I really wanted, and the rest were just icing.
Ambiance sounds pretty good here, and the Fazy Creme is dead balls muff pedal. I've learned to trust your reviews and bought a Mosky verb mostly because of them.
If you get the chance, check out Monoprice's Stageright pedals. With that Mosky reverb, I also picked up a Stageright VS Overdrive today in a bundle and love both. The VS feels like an OCD/Ehx Glove clone with a bit more grit. I'd love to see and hear more Monoprice demos of the pedals too.
WinkNodNudgeSayNoMore
This was an ok video. At 14:15 it got fabulous. Well done!
Right? I love the sounds he pulled out of these pedals.
i love that Starcaster on the wall
I'm really impressed with the fazy cream. For 30$ at the time , turned out to be best bang for your buck!
Nice rendition of Purple Oyster Cult's "Gordzella".....
That Fuzz sounds great, super deep and full without too much spitting. Cool sounds combining the Fuzz and Reverb/Delay pedal - diggin" it. What is your favorite "Plate Reverb" in a pedal and in a modeler? Thanks
Yes, do revisit the shoegaze board. In particular, review the Keeley Loomer Fuzz Reverb.
love the cherub and godzilla at the beginning
I have bought and made a lot of pedals, mainly affordable delays. You don't get a reverse that good on a budget delay, especially with a half decent reverb. If I had space I would. Great pairing as well.
The ABY pedal looks interesting in that it looks like it has a rotary knob that lets you dial between the amps.
Sweet shoegazing! 👟
This is amazing, i need those pedals
Dat FazyCream! 🥰
Honestly man , You gotta get together with Red Means Recording or someone like that and do a synth afford-a-board . It'd probably have a ton of crossover with the shoegaze board . That setup you just had going would sound amazing with a huge square wave pushing through , maybe a bucket or 6 of pulse wave modulation , just make sure the amps are bolted down .
Great review as ever. Could you please recomend your favourite budget reverb pedal? I already own a delay so just the reverb is needed. Please help!
i have one of these..I use it for extra delay when i need it but its great to pair up with fuzz and my Oceans eleven. You can play all day 🤤
BladeRunner2049 soundtrack starts at 16:53
I have a mighty need
The fazy creme also gave me the craziest grindcore tone ever
Just got the ambience pedal, reverse delay plus reverb and dipping the old jazzmaster trem instant mbv
I have the ambience. I like the tape delay the best!
Im sold for those reverses
Neither was doing it for me but when you mated the 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻Hey you got chocolate on my peanut butter hey you got a peanut butter on my chocolate hey they taste great together
I love affordaboard !!
Just got that Ambiance had a)ready got the other 2
The Fuzz isn't half bad! Not too overly gated
And I just bought a pedal
Sonicake Sonic ABY box that serves what I need but I don't know if the order of the pedals changes and this pedal would be the first in my chain of pedals
Inspired by your videos I have been buying budget pedals to play around with having never really had single fx pedals only multifx. My experience has been that distortion, fuzz and overdrives are worth it but delay and especially reverb are not worth it, just get a tc electronic and you'll only need to buy one and end up saving money. Unless you are into the glitchy sounding reverbs... Maybe the case. Mods are hit and miss, I have a Cool Music multi mod pedal and the dyna filter is worth the price of the pedal, the rest not so much. Thanks for the videos.
How do you like that Cyclone?
My first guitar a Teisco Del Ray I bought for $30 at a music store had a switch for each pickup.
You could use them in any combo.
I was disappointed when I realized my better in every other way Squire Strat I bought would only let me use 2 pickups at a time.
I see the Cyclone has 3 switches.
(Yea I know I could add a push pull switch/ pot for one of the tones, connect the switch to the rear pick up and then I could get all the combinations. I just have never gotten around to it.)
When you do neck and middle are they out of phase?
Can you check out the Zoom MS-70 CDR? I know it's an older pedal, but there are A LOT of cool tones you can get out of it with the hacked effects manager to add in extra effects.
I think it would be cool to load up some presets and compare vs more expensive pedals.
Does anybody know what the tails function do when powering up while holding the switch down?
nice riffs on the muff
haha, I have two of these, and still couldn't get the box open when the second one came! hahahaha
I have the ABY box. For the $26 I paid it I’d great. Does the job with no extra noise.
I think sonicake has been one of the more consistent affordaboard brands
SHOEGAZE AFFORDABOARD REDUX!!! YES!!! AM I SHOUTING??? YES!!!
i wanna see more pedals with slide faders especially delay or modulating ones.
You're having way to much fun with that Armageddon stuff..
I love that fuzz, my defintely sounds different though. But holy the combo of that plus tha ambience pedal, unbelievable. I have that in my amazon wishlist, better grab it before it becomes 100 bucks.
Yes, shoegaze affordaboard please!
The ABY is kind of tempting. Probably the least glamorous pedal there, but certainly useful.
I've a different model ABY box and it is indeed. I use it at the end of the chain to send one signal between two (or both, if you need to get loud) amps. I have also used it at the beginning of the chain to switch between two guitars (different tunings or quick switch if you break a string, for example)
Those delay sounds seem to be based on the earliest versions of each type of delay. It's actually very "vintage" sounding in that way.
The "Church" reverb is where the ambience really comes in.
14:14 is where it all ends... I will either conquer or destroy the world with that tone.
Hello, I would like to ask you, I have 7 analog pedals in their order they are: Tuner, Wha Wha, Compressor, Distortion, Noise gate, Flanger and Delay and I need to know or find which controller pedal serves me to cancel the entire chain of pedals that I have active and remain in the clean channel of the "(acoustic)" amplifier, so that at the time of resuming I only step on the pedal and I have the chain that I had in the beginning turned on again
You want a loop switching pedal. Put all those pedals in one loop and bypass them all at once.
I caught you playing Godzilla with the fuzz. That was awesome
The NUX M-Fuzz is the best of the cheap Muffs. You played for literally 30 seconds. I recognized my old Rams Head. Mind you the Sonicake sounds pretty good as they fixed the bias for a faux germanium voicing. But if it is meant to be that Muff near OD sound it is not.
Sounds pretty good to me Buddy..
I wonder how'd these would sound with synth\keys.
The Ammoon Pockverb has more options for a little more money. Definitely worth it
the valeton coral series is also absolutely great in the "more expensive than donner but still cheap-ish" category
Great cheap pedal. Takes care of all my shoegaze needs.
Is there a place where we can see current affordaboard lineups?
I can't buy anymore pedals, it's becoming an addiction. Also, did you use white switchcraft switches for your cyclone? I did and the new switches are about a mm off but still fit. I had to use the new screws and equally tighten each side so I could get them centered. I really wanted to use the old chrome screws but they don't fit the threads.
i dont remember how the screws worked out, im sure i have a video of it.
you just have to tell yourself that if you wanted you could always sell them again to get most of the money back. and then never sell a single one of course.
This vid is one year old now, and how different your set is now!
Did you unload a tuna gear, or did you mature? Lol! Like, "Look how much guitars and gear I've acquired!"
Yes! More shoegaze
Can you use the A/B/Y petal to switch between two guitars into one board?
i haven't tested this pedal that way but all other aby boxes ive used do function backwards.
Cherub Rock! 🤟
I love my fazy creme and twiggy blues 4 in 1. I think soniccake is better than most chinese cheapo pedals.
Fazy Cream -> Sonic ambiance is by far the cheapest way to get David Gilmour's tone on Sorrow.
Thanks for doing these reviews borther
After the wife left I ain’t had a way to get back into music
Gobbles

BORTHER WE DONT NEED PEDALS TONE IS ALL IN THE FINGIES CLAPTON DIDNT USE PEDALS HE USED FEEL

17:52 Legit outspace stone metal fuzz E chord
I was ready for another Blade Runner sequence
Yup, heard that and ordered both pedals.
Ryan, did you ever take apart some pedal to see what's inside?
I've opened the Ambience.... the push button is interesting
The Sonic Ambience pedal is only $37.49 on eBay from the official Sonicake store
THANKS!
3:02 GO GO GODZILLA!!!
Yeah ryan get in the noise vortex!
Question why does the cuvave fuzz sound great used with a tube amp an like poo with the boss katana 50 mk2? Also regarding the Sonic cake ABY be used to split my signal between a guitar amplifier and a Bose PA system? I work with a singer that thinks the Bose PA system is the most wonderful thing in the entire world and anyone who doesn't think the guitar sounds just Splendid come in through it is crazy. And it sounds fun but as a guitar player I want more Sonic and control over my sound I also want something that functions like a monitor. Would using an ABY splitter after my pedalboard and before the signal goes to a guitar amp into the PA system be the solution to my problem? I'm more of that old-school analog guitar into pedals into amp I don't think I've ever even used in effects Loop
Yeah, sounds like that should work. Use your amp as your monitor, and the PA can handle the rest.
@@jpizzleforizzle thanks!
@@jpizzleforizzle I worked with a Bose system in a band for years... the best solution I found was to bring a little tube amp and mic it for sending guitar through the system. Especially if you don’t dig the direct sound you’re currently getting. Splitting the signal to an amp to use for a monitor onstage will mostly just make it sound better to you... but micing it will send the sound you enjoy from the amp out to everyone in the audience. One of the best mics there is for micing a guitar cab is an sm57, and they’re only $99 brand new
@@Hepnotical I did think to mention that if there's no cab sim in his pedalboard it probably won't sound good. My bad. Yeah without a cab sim, yer gonna have a bad time.
Can't go wrong with a 57, even a 58 will work.
C on the reverb might be Cavern or Cavernous?
Shoegaze affordaboard 😊
Maybe the "C" reverb stands for "Cathedral"?
60))) Cycle Hummmmmmmmmm
Are they noisy pedals. That’s what I really wanna know.
please make a video about pockverb by ammoon
God yes. I've been trying to tell everyone about this
And the PockEcho
the pockloop is one of my heavy-use pedals just as a cheap scratchpad and a quick way to let other bandmates hear riffs / Di to learn songs without me
The Flamma makes all the budget verb and delays sound like toys!
18:45 that was fucking AMAZING!
wouldn't the c stand for cathedral?
Maybe it stands for “chunky” or “candles”
ammoon POCKecho POCKverb.. the Galaxy setting on the PockECHO is just as good as this.

I bought one on Amazon before the price goes up
DO ANOTHER SHOEGZE AFFORD-A-BOARD VIDEO!!! plz
Ok now Fuzz after Verb/Delay (:
Is the nux ATLANTIC the king of affordable delay and reverb still? In the market, and not digging the one in this vid.
the atlantic is like $150 though. it is a good pedal but thats 3X the price of most afford-a-board pedals.
What’s the song in 2:52
Sounds like its an mbv song but not really sure
3:42 reminds me of a sonic youth song but can't remember which one!
Sounds a bit like the riff from Total Trash?
@@badpun90 That's it! just that fuzzier jaja
they all offer a great time though.
You know what kills me? It kills me that pedal reviewers have $50 hardware and complain because the reverb is digital and not terribly high fidelity, AND YET “low-fi digital reverb” plugins for recording on the computer go for easily twice that. Lol.
14:20 Saudaukar kicks in
