After placing an order with the Big Rig Chrome Shop over 8 months ago, I finally received the new bumper for my 1979 Peterbilt 359 Project. My wonderful and very generous mother gives a contribution for these ongoing truck projects every year on my birthday and I’m very grateful. This year, I purchased a 20” Texas blade style bumper with the tapered ends to match the styling of the one the truck came with from the factory and special “blind mounts” that hide all the mounting bolts. This was a customer order where I had 6” round cutouts to install Perlux 200T style classic lights as well like the one used in Smokey and the Bandit Part 3. Unfortunately, the bumper arrived without the cutouts for the lights. Obliviously, I was quite disappointed but other than that miss, the bumper is a beauty and was very easy to mount … actually, the hardest part was getting the old one off…

Mark, the bumper looks great;HOWEVER, I have always believed that customer service separates the men from the boys. I would rate that company in the "infant" stage. You ordered it with the holes for the lights and it didn't come with the holes. Strike one. The kit was supposed to include the mounting hardware. It didn't. Strike two. The bumper took eight months to get to you. Strike three. In my book, I would contact the manufacturer and ask them to refund the purchase price to you. If they don't, I would just let all your viewers know who the company is. That may not be In your makeup, personally, but if you don't hold their feet to the fire,they will continually "under serve" their customers. You may not be able to get any help on your problem, but you could save others a lot of grief. Just a thought. Like I said, the bumper looks great. Thanks for my Thursday Twinsticks fix!

I'll play devils advocate, seems they laid everyone off and its one or two guys just shipping whatever they can - I bet they haven't answered the phone in months/weeks as its all pissed off customers calling. Still no excuse to send out the wrong parts, I am surprised it even fit.
I would call and get my money back if the company is not going to fix their screw up. Great videos

It's not the end of the world. I have a 86 ford f250 I got 4/1/2 in hole cutter cutout holes in my bumper to put train signal lights they are 4 inch bought the semi trailer light boots pressed them in hooked em up measure your lights walla they work have to adapt and overcome sometimes. It will work out buddy. Keep on trucking. Have a good day. God bless.

If it were me I would be sending it back it looks like there are some small dents at the bottom edge of the bumper too ( you can see them when you first opened the box and took the wrap off) always disheartening when you dont get the right part sent out. If that was me it would bug me constantly and I would end up having to send it back again.
Also I wouldnt drive it without the lower support on the bumper as it WILL flex and ultimately you could end up with protruding dents from the hidden bolt heads.
It looks great fitted but I wouldnt be happy with it.
As usual though Mark thanks for keeping my spirits up I always look forward to Twinsticks Thursday, you help to keep me motivated during this bad time with my mental and physical health.

Hey Mark, there are companies that will cut the holes for the lights where you need them in that chrome bumper using a water jet feature I've had a similar situation with a factory bumper and this technique blew my mind it looked not only factory when they were through but it was perfect without a flaw and i was able to finish my project but if would go after that company for a full refund of the purchase price on that bumper
If you cut chromed bumpers you'll watch them rust from the cut in days depending on how shit the base metal is (and these days, unless you specify exactly what you want, you won't get the real thing).

It’s not complaining when you bought and paid for something and it’s not what you ordered . All to often do we order things and it’s short mounting hardware. It sure looks awesome Mark , another great job done .

I for one think that bumper is PERFECT for the Pete. Just an uninterrupted mirror, I love it.
If you have a Fab shop around your area see if they can cut out your lights with a water jet cutter. But it looks beautiful. Be safe and keep up the good work ❤️❤️❤️👍👍

Get a leaf blower to "sweep" the shop. Also, handy for drying the trucks after a wash!

Mark, great looking bumper. A real shame the supplier didn't follow your instructions. As others have said, there must be an engineering shop that could modify it for you. It's more expense, but you've already waited 8 months for it. You could probably get the brackets made too. Loving the channel. Mike from Lancashire 🇬🇧
Hey Mark great video! There are a lot of really good Canadian companies making bumpers and other stainless parts that would go above and beyond to make sure that you received the product you ordered. Also I would say in my experience the quality is much better. shoot me a PM if you want some more info.

Hey Mark keep that bumper it looks better whit no holes and if you paint that truck in your shop the paint going to get everywhere you will be cleaning for year’s have fun.

Mark you are just a good trusting soul. I would rip that piece of crap off my pride & joy, throw it in the junk pile and tell them to come pick up their crap and get your money back. They don’t care to even check that the freaking bolts are in the box after waiting 8 months! They obviously do not care about their customers! I’m so sorry that an American company has such horrible disregard for there customers. This video really made me mad! Please keep up the great work, I look forward to your videos every week!

One of the hardest things to do was turning my sound up and down everything you walked away from the camera mic. The new sound mic you have is awesome. Thank you for doing that
You always can take the blueprint to a machine shop and have a machine inserts where you put the lights in if I cost them on the lab done but they won't damage the bumper

Sorry to say ,as nice as it looks I'm Glad you told us who the are" BIG RIG CHROME SHOP." If they'r going to charge a pretty penny for that bling they BETTER get it right! I will use them as a last resort for my project now. Thanks again for letting me know who they are.

Nevermind the “crying too much” about the bumper mistake, that bs happens way to often and we all let it slide way too often. You paid money expecting one thing and got something else. Still looks sweet regardless.
The bumper looks great Mark, LBL is really starting to shine even without paint. Myself I would have shipped the bumper back, I believe a person should get what they pay for, but I respect your decision. Have a great week my friend see you on the next one

Nice bumper, yano over here in the uk, im jealous, we dont have so many nice trucks, most of ours are cab overs, they have been for decades, ever since i can remember
Theres a hand full of trucks with the hoods like the pete and the kenworth you have, but there very rare to see, last time i saw one was about 8 years ago, well, i saw 2 at the same time, two red kenworths, i dont know what model kenworth, they looked like 1970's/1980's trucks though, they werent the newer ones, they were both driving together, they must have been to a truck show
