if they wanted to come off as a good company that listens to their fan base, they would twist this into a esp cap update anyways for this reason exactly. they're literally just incompetent

I've been saying this since the update! I lost every single mod, had to delete all my saves, my favorites and library list were both wiped as well except for like 3 mods. Downloaded a few texture packs and weapon mods and I've already hit my 2gb mod space.
So basically... if you want to actually play Fallout 4 - come back to it in about six months?
I deleted it off my Xbox then reinstalled and now my mods work ok but it crashes when I switch from data to map too fast

They might as well increase mod space limit, seeing that everyone's Bethesda mod list was wiped or completely broken

Bethesda does not set the mod limits. Those are set by the console makers. Bethesda has been fighting for more space since the beginning, but the console makers refuse to budge because it will expose their hardware limitations.

I love how Bethesda refuses to up the mod cap on console because they totally don’t want to have to delete people’s mod LOs… then go and update Skyrim and FO4’s mod section so haphazardly that tons of people lose their mods anyway. It has to be an active choice at this point. A dev can’t suck this bad at using its own systems and software for this many years lol.
I think Bethesda is just a dumpster fire at this point. It's why I am hoping that Microsoft just forces them to hand the engine over to another dev like a Obsidian or inXile to make a Fallout game while they work on ES6.
Fallout 4 was okay'ish, but far from Fallout 3 or Skyrim standards. Starfield was just flat out bad. Fallout 76 launched in an outrageously bad state.
Just seems like their time may have passed.

@@ransom-- inXile likely wouldn't want to work on Fallout, and Obsidian shouldn't, with how outdated Outer worlds looked, and felt, and that the majority of the people behind the NV story are gone from Obsidian.

I had my fallout4 world so built up with every settlement(including many mod settlement spots) heavily furnished with so many personal touches including their own flags and my world was finally ready for me to kill Kellogg and get the next part of the story started. With this update however it deleted everything I had spent so much time and love working on. I don’t think I’m ever gonna return to this game, it literally makes me feel like I’ve been stabbed in the heart for loving the game.

I understand that completely, had a playthrough of skyrim a while back and an update completely broke it. Haven't played it often since then, it kinda left me a bit disheartened.

What sucks is that most of the items in the update are basically just already existing mods or already had better alternatives in nexus.
The only benefit is that the comparable changes don’t take up limited mod space. But you are right about the mod alternatives typically being better quality.

The tesla cannon is trash. There's another mod that adds the same weapon with a custom reload animation and it hits harder.
Cant even open the mod menu before it tells me "This operation cant be completed"

I swear it's totally f@ked I can't tell if anything is downloaded anymore cause they don't show up on the list only in load order and half the time the thumbnails get swapped for other mods

Yes, exactly! And it's even worse than that - Bethesda launched this patch on the eve of the release of Fallout London, a highly awaited mod with a large, dense map. Like a whole DLC that Bethesda didn't have to produce themselves or pay for, with some famous/known British actors voicing it (!)... But it needs the script extender. So now the mod team's waiting for the script extender to be updated before they can release
@@PBlot1maybe if they came up with their own engine mechanics assets tools IP everything from the ground up the way Bethesda do they would not have that problem modders aren’t nearly as talented you all think they are and the truth is everything they do is built of the backs of someone else’s work nothing they do is completely original

If you have played modded Bethesda games for any amount of time you know to stay far away from official updates, at least until the dust settles and all the repair patches are released to fix what they break, or like veteran mod users and never update your game because it's never worth it
I typically tell people to not let the official update run for around a month just to be sure.
Bethesda have a habit of doing this as a big middle finger to the mod community

Skyrim anniversary edition surprisingly prepared modders better than fallout 4's next Gen update. So they can prevent/reduce it, they just chose not to for some reason

Be grateful they encourage mods on their games and make them accessible for console. what do you expect them to do only update the game in a way that works with every mod ever created brain dead logic. Also If it’s that much of a issue then skip the update and the mods will work fine
@@ian6273 here's the thing: they've let the skse teamhave access to the update early so they could bring out skse sooner. the F4se team didn't get that treatment. The only thing that says is that they refused to give F4se enough time to get the script extension out in less time than it would.
Thank god I disabled automatic updates, I am playing on the old version with all my mods running perfectly.
me too, disabled auto updates and have a massive mod list that makes it look like a next gen update, it has awesome graphics and consistent frames

@@stopidhoodleum3232if you’re on PC, there is a guide for users to downgrade their fallout 4 install to before the next-gen update.
Unfortunately there isn’t a method to downgrade on console, that I’m aware of

It's almost like how every other game that gets updated and mods break and those mods have to be updated to the recent client update
The difference is those other games arent left untouched with gsme breaking bugs for half a decade. Theyre *actively* maintained.
Oh not to mention their updates add meaningful content instead of sub-mod-tier weapons and quests
I am so glad i turned off automatic updates. Its a good thing launching through Mod Organizer 2 doesnt trigger an update.

I'm actually having a issue on xbox where if I even try to open my mod option it crashes my game but somehow all my mods are still working
I get the same issue when I just look at radio mods. That's just looking
Even running some of the mods that "work" causes a lot of stutter, freezing, crashes...But they couldnt upgrade the mod space on console because itd break the mods/load order, yet it already did that. So whats their excuse as to why they couldnt really make it next-gen, and put in the biggest request users wanted for more modern consoles?

I think they honestly do, since Bethesda decided that they should receive money for mods, and mods should only be very simple ones so they maximize the profits, free mods are against how they want the market to behave

@@thewanderer1871 do you understand how mods work? They most likely broke and the modders didn’t want to go through the hassle of fixing them so they deleted them. Again, now do you understand the perspective of pc players? Once a mod breaks there’s no guarantee the modder will want to fix it, they might just give up.

the 0 bytes space is also a bug for saves in the game and breaks your save with 100 of hours

I play on Xbox. The day the update hit, it took me several hours to repopulate most of my mods. I strongly recommend taking screen shots of your mods, as this will help you find them. But some mods appear to just be "broken."
Yup lost my whole mod list, luckily I recorded it like a day before hand so it wasn’t that big of a deal. Sucks we didn’t get more mod space on console though wasted opportunity

Lucky me, my HDD burnt a couple of days ago and i had to download the entire game again in the SSD
I love the new weapons added that shoot error signs.

Dont forgot how bad the mod section is to navigate because the search bar just sucks.
All of my Mods work perfectly fine. I did have to reinstall the ones in my library and one of them I had to search for all over again tho. I’m on Xbox Series S.
Yup. Thats because most of these bugs are rare and get patched quickly, these jackasses are just dramatizing it for clicks and also harming us because this will discourage bethesda from actually patching more bugs.

It broke every mod I had installed so I was forced to delete all of my modded saves on xbox and 95% of the mods I used to either haven't been patched or are just gone completely. And I had to go through all the mods disabling them one by one because my skip start mod was causing the game to crash, and I had to find out what it was. Not cool, I probably won't download it for a month or 2, and just stuck to new Vegas when I want my Fallout itch scratched
Im playing vanilla and experiencing more bugs and glitches than i ever did with mods. Every new weapon is invisible and shoots a giant exclamation mark, those exclamation marks are also at any new mission location
1. Delete fallout 4
2. Download fallout new Vegas
New Vegas for a few months until it’s fixed
3. Download mods to make it playable

That's what I did. returned to FNV for the first time since 2016. Installed mods for the first time, following the Viva New Vegas guide and a couple other lore-friendly mods I thought was neat. The game still holds up even after all these years, especially with mods.
Look with disgust at Vegas.

Not to mention it will only show you about five of your downloaded mods and you actually have to go to the load order to see whats downloaded
I love how Bethesda is entirely dependent on mods to survive, and yet literally every update they make for their games breaks every mod.
That's not entirely their fault. Almost every update for every game breaks mods.

@@CherryBotV2 thats what u dont understand. A good modded Fallout didnt crash. Everything was already solved by modders. And its not normal for a update, to DELETE mod lists and custom build citys. Also the other bugs that happen to people are not normal.
@@kristinagraversgaard5328most other games with a mod community actively support using older versions and dont need 8 bajillion workarounds to not be forced to update.
Not only did was my modlist (PS4) completely deleted, it uninstalled all the DLCs and wouldn't let me re-download them (I have to buy them again)
My mod list stayed complete on my ps4 not sure why. To get the DLCs back download them from the add-on section of the game’s main menu. That’s what I needed to do because I couldn’t from the ps store. Hope this helps.

Make sure you favorite all your mods, so some can be found again.
The way I see it, I've never had a vanilla playthrough bc of mods, and now I can complete some of the PS achievements with a fresh playthrough.
Also gotta love with this new update that at some of the mods that I used to have and some of the malls that have been looking at sometimes just crash the game when you try to open them on Xbox but a lot of the problems with some of the other games have been fixed but that memory issue is still very much there
I have the zero Bites glitch as well, very frustrating.
I don’t mind not using mods cause I wanna achieve all the achievements for the game
My stuff wasn’t “completely” wiped on PS5 but it did uninstall my mods and only the ones in my favorites list were kept. So luckily I was able to just redownload those but I had to search for the ones I didn’t favorite. There’s still a few I either don’t remember having or was unable to find again.
I never had these issues. When downloading a big mod it sometimes said “could not complete operation” but when retrying it worked. I’ve had minimal crashing and the only major issue I’ve faced is the missing textures for the new weapons. These issues are very hit or miss
I lost nearly 80% of all of my mods in terms of them actually working. I lost 95% of them entirely off of my list. The only one that I managed to not get deleted was my official unofficial patch for the game. But that was broken as well

At least two of the existing Creation Club items (Modern Furniture and the Charlestown Condo) have been broken by this update, too. Add that to the numerous missing textures in the new Makeshift Weapons pack and I am not entirely pleased.
Well that's not so bad, now you get to enjoy your first vanilla fallout 4 game
Mods inevitably end up crashing my game it always starts with simple mods then a few minutes later it's mini nuke mini gun shot guns never ends well from there
Mate was even worse, when I first updated it it told me there wasn't enough space for any more saves, try and make a new save, same thing, had to fully de-sync all of my games to get it to work
Yep, I had my whole mod list deleted and not only that but I can’t even download mods because my mod list is set to zero

lol what do people want, developers to just not update games. That’s part of the mod headache you buy into when you go down that path.
how long did they wait to do an update again? how long has this game had certain issues? issues that have been around for years no less. this update was a sad joke and glad i could turn off steams auto update and not waste my time on a 10 gig plus download that isn't worth it. also some issues still have not been fixed

Shocker bathesda breaks something
This is also a problem on PS4, a few mods such as scrap that settlement have broken (my favourite mod too as I love to build up settlements as the general of the minutemen) as most of the things in sanctuary can no longer be scrapped. And a few others have path finding issues when they update the likes of the Brotherhood
I play on xbox and i got that "0 bytes" problem and i just went ahead and downloaded a load of mods anyway and theyre all working beautifully for me. I hope this is the case for everyone else

In the end this will just hurt us as bethesda is discouraged from updating their games and will just leave us with game breaking bugs because some people whined about their mods breaking
Not only did I get the operation could not be completed issue, but I had to delete and reinstall the game. My mods were gone completely, some like AWKCR and the PPSH mod would crash the mod screen back to the Fallout 4 main menu. Some would crash the console back to desk top. I fixed most of it, but some mods still wont work properly and ive had TONS of crashes and game stability has cratered.
I predicted it breaking mods but, faking steam deck verification, faking ultra wide support, breaking all mods besides creation club and corrupting everyones saves is a whole new level. I pray everyday that Microsoft lets another company take the reigns of the next fallout game since bethesda is too busy breaking previous fallout games and working on fucking up elder scrolls

The only mods that failed me were Unofficial patch, Boston led enemies, delete god rays. So the city is a 50/50 crash area luckily i found all the locations before this update so i don't risk a crash before finding a location

This especially pissed me off. I was doing a Brotherhood build before the update with an Overhaul Mod and now that mod has been 86’d

This happened to me, lost quite a few run defining mods and had to start over my hardcore survival playthrough, was incredibly disappointed
This was me 😢 my entire mod list and lvl 68 character gone. I had to start from scratch

My library shows my 6 most recently downloaded mods, but my load order list says i have it all, and when i went into my modded save, said that nothing was missing
Xbox series X user. The “upgrade” completely screwed my game. Not only was I forced to uninstall and reinstall the entire game, but I had to wipe my saves and reserve space, and cannot even access mods to reinstall. Mods is greyed out.
Even after using the nuclear option of a complete reinstall, mods are not available to me.
NOT a happy customer.

I can’t even get to the mod menu.. whenever I try and click on mods it will load like it’s logging me in and loading the mods and then cut back to main menu and a text box will pop up saying “the operation could not be completed.”
Yah, every mod in my library was deleted for some reason only leaving like 4 on my list un-installed. Tried playing again with the mods I remembered having and saw a bunch of glitches.
I mean non of my mods broke, just gotta boot it up via steam, so far that patch thing hasn’t goofed up anything for me
The funniest part is that I can't even use the new weapons because they installed with no models, sounds, or indicators. I'm getting the 0b issue so I can't even play modded. I didn't just get nothing with the new update, I got less than nothing

I'm having this exact issue right now and I've had the game installed literally since it's came out the amount of progress while using mods is basically useless now so I can barely play and making a new character seems like so much work
How tables have turned that 0kb bug switched from ps5 to xbox
On my Xbox, every time I try to open the mod menu it just goes back to the main menu with that "this operation could not be complete" message
I’m on ps4 and it said that to me too. I deleted it and redownloaded it and that fixed it for me.
Oh and having everyone of my saves were lost do to a "obsolete save" error. Starting from scratch now 👍
if you mod you should know to always save a copy of fallout 4 in a separate folder, for when updates break everything
I'm one of those people I had to redownload literally every mod. It even removed some of mine out of my favorite list. Some I still haven't been able to find
I was planning to go back to FO4, might wait a few months for everything to chill back out
Im glad ive been playing the game without mods just to get achievements that i didn't get because I ran mods
You can copy the fallout 4 folder to a different location, redownload fallout 4 with the update so you have a seperate folder with your mods. Steam only checks and updates the folder it says is the fallout 4 folder, so you an have your F4SE launcher run the old version if you want mods and then launch fallout as usual for the update

I have the negative storage on my xbox but instead of not being able to download it almost seems like I can download more mods than I should be able to. I haven't done the math to add up how many GB I've used yet
My Xbox says I'm in the negative, and I still can download my mods back just fine for the moment
