    The caravan engines piston rods are not cast /broken rod caps. They will not be so sure to spin a rod bearing. 3 8L loves to throw a rod bearing !!

      LOL I never even noticed it until you pointed it out. Yeah we live in a small town in the country.

    I figured it wasn't chicago. Not enough gunfire.

    4:12. You can get to those bolts (easier) with a 36 inch extension and go in from the back.

    300,000 mi wow. I have an 2008 RHD wrangler with 115,000. Sounds like if you take care of them they’ll last

    Hi John! Thankyou for this video it has helped me a lot. Just wondering what tool you used to loosen those two upper bolts after you had pulled the intake? From top or from the side? Thanks...

    Take the fender off, 5 screws. Buy a kit with new plastic clips.

    Did you have to do anything extra with swapping over the rotating assembly? Oversized bearings? Grind the crank? I'm about to do this because my 3.8 in my Wrangler seized. I'd like to know what exactly I need to do. Thanks

      The only thing you have to do is clearance a small area on the upper aluminum oil pan. The rod caps are bigger on the van rods. There is another vid on this series you can see. As for machining or bearings nothing different. It will drop right in the Jeep block

    Did the caravan engine end up working?

    • @johnbrakingground
      @johnbrakingground  5 лет назад

      Yes and no. The internals were the same and the heads the same but the block at least the 2003 block was slightly different. I've read that 07+blocks are the same. I may have just had the wrong year.

      @@johnbrakingground I later watched that you had a problem to solve by modifying the gusset of the oil pan where it was hitting the rodpin near bottom dead center. Man, I would sure love for you to be there to let me know what the connections are when I pull my 3.8 later this year.
