Don’t know how YT lead me here but wow. Never heard of Matraca before, but I’ve heard her songs. Fantastic to hear her sing one with that beautiful voice, lovely vocal harmonies and whoever is playing that fine supporting guitar. On top of all that she’s just gorgeous.
He was working through college on my grandpa's farm I was thirsting for knowledge and he had a car I was caught somewhere between a woman and a child When one restless summer we found love growing wild On the banks of the river on a well beaten path It's funny how those memories they last Like strawberry wine and seventeen The hot July moon saw everything My first taste of love oh bittersweet Green on the vine Like strawberry wine I still remember when thirty was old And my biggest fear was September when he had to go A few cards and letters and one long distance call We drifted away like the leaves in the fall But year after year I come back to this place Just to remember the taste Of strawberry wine and seventeen The hot July moon saw everything My first taste of love oh bittersweet Green on the vine Like strawberry wine The fields have grown over now Years since they've seen the plow There's nothing time hasn't touched Is it really him or the loss of my innocence I've been missing so much Like strawberry wine and seventeen The hot July moon saw everything My first taste of love oh bittersweet Green on the vine Like strawberry wine Strawberry wine Strawberry wine
Roland Akor, It sounds like she can't either. When Willie Nelson pitched "Crazy" to Patsy Cline, she said she hated it and did not want to record it. Lucky for all of us that her manager talked her into recording it anyway.
@@rolandakor861 correct. Trisha didn't record the song but put on hold probably for her next to cut. Trisha explained that she had regretted she didn't record the song.
Literally one of the best Country songs in Decades.
I freaking LOVE Trisha, but the right singer got this song.
Huge fan of these women. Matraca is a genius songwriter.

The last verse lyrics are amazing! Thanks for bringing old memories back to life
Matraca Berg is like the Laura Nyro of Americana/Real Country Music.
He was working through college on my grandpa's farm
I was thirsting for knowledge and he had a car
I was caught somewhere between a woman and a child
When one restless summer we found love growing wild
On the banks of the river on a well beaten path
It's funny how those memories they last
Like strawberry wine and seventeen
The hot July moon saw everything
My first taste of love oh bittersweet
Green on the vine
Like strawberry wine
I still remember when thirty was old
And my biggest fear was September when he had to go
A few cards and letters and one long distance call
We drifted away like the leaves in the fall
But year after year I come back to this place
Just to remember the taste
Of strawberry wine and seventeen
The hot July moon saw everything
My first taste of love oh bittersweet
Green on the vine
Like strawberry wine
The fields have grown over now
Years since they've seen the plow
There's nothing time hasn't touched
Is it really him or the loss of my innocence
I've been missing so much
Like strawberry wine and seventeen
The hot July moon saw everything
My first taste of love oh bittersweet
Green on the vine
Like strawberry wine
Strawberry wine
Strawberry wine
Can`t believe Trisha turned down this song.
Wow!
Still can`t comprehend why Trisha turned down this song.

I guess the good news is, Ms. Yearwood did just fine for herself, even w/o this song.
Trisha didn't turned down the song. She put it on hold until Deana Carter heard it and wanted to cut it.
@@dobazajr She never recorded it and did not release it. Which means either her or the label wasn`t excited about the song.
