- Getting some field jobs done with the solis tractor it’s really handy on the log splitter, reusing tin that’s been in storage for 35 years, Carl gets the mowers on and drops all the grass it’s a monster crop wow so long! I move barbed wire and have a secret mowing competition with James next door but he doesn’t even realise!!!! Calves are coming on great but still no jerseys.
in 2009 i had no experience of farming or the realities that came with it. That soon changed when I met my other half Roy, I had a job as a carer and in every spare moment threw myself into farming. I had only ever driven a Nissan Micra and had experience with horses, I learnt the hard way as nobody had the time to show me and soon after arriving I found myself mothering on calves to three quarter bred limmy cows. We spent every available moment on the farm between our day jobs. Fast forward to 2016 two children later we moved into our very own farm overlooking the northern Pennines, Laitha.
we are in a transitional period at present and will finally be milking cows and making the final switch later this year, after years of planning and implementing infrastructure we will be milking 120 Jersey cows on two Lely robots. This will be a huge change and a steep learning curve
I will be taking you all along for the ride so hit that subscribe button and see you every other day for farming vlogs.
I am overjoyed to be a farmer. I feel so fortunate every day to wake up and do what I love and even better share it with the world and hope it inspires more young people from Preston to spread their wings and think outside the box the world doesn’t need more childcare workers or hairdressers it needs more farmers.

Love Roy the " Spread-a-Bale" and entertaining the cow. 😊😅😊
Was Joe phoning Roy to warn him about man holes when you mow....? 😲😉

The farming side of my family always said ;
"Don't throw stuff away. It will be useful 1 day.
Nothing is useless , you just haven't found a use for it, yet. "
Wise words.
Some nice grass there Charlotte , you should have a nice lot of silage off of there. I will agree don't paint the hut black , do it a light grey and it will reflect the heat. The calves look great , and your pigs are cute too.
Another excellent video Charlotte! Nice to see such happy livestock on the farm! Some great images too!
Great to see you, seems like ages. Glad all is going well, loving the little bit of this and a little bit of that, Keep smiling. Take care. Witchy
Great vid Charlotte that grass looks lush could watch them robots all day amaze me everytime i see them working 👍

My son loves splitting logs with an ax the bigger the better
Does heeee I always think it will break and hit me
Hi Charlotte that was a lovely video of you and all your cattle to hun and your doing a great job with your cattle to ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great video Charlotte. The pigs seem to be spoiled by you and your family and I was thinking about the poor pigs when you said about painting the tin black. 😂
You might want to put primer on the sheet-metal before painting it black. Particularly I think on galvanized, otherwise the paint will just come off. You could paint them white if what you want is to reflect heat.
Nice vid lass looks like a good bit of grass youv got ok be safe
Thank you
Where ya been. Missed your vids. You brighten my day.😀
More to come!
Charlotte those are fine specimens of thistles that that you have there 😂😂😂
Arent they something special bigger than me
They are
Hi Charlotte a great video my fields was cut on Saturday, and baled on Monday.
I have a problem my old tractor will not pick them up, as they are so heavy.
The bales are still in the field and I can't get anyone to bring them down for me.
Could do with a bit of blue water pipe to go with your blue tractor. Give the girls a poke when they stick their legs out save getting off 😂
Yes you can paint tin - with a Black Hammerite paint
You will find stuff in the grass when mowing if its there. Would backpack the verges or you will have thistles everywhere
Omg kiddo i didn't realise you was that short standing in that grass charlotte 😂😂😂
I always that you could nickname the Farm,The Garden of Eden
Lol
Sawdust yeah it's an expense but dry stalls with less bacterial growth is more worth. And for us there is a requirement for some type of bedding regardless if you got thick mattresses.
Oh totally I won’t be doing away with it don’t worry just maybe not piling it up quite as much 😂
Another great video! Great looking log trailer, where did you get it!?
A cow doing the straw dance
We have all mayo mats all we use is lime no issues wifh mastitis mayo mats are no 1
To be fair to Roy - geven the recent awareness of mental health issues in Farmers you probably shouldn't make fun of him calling Joe. Those few minutes (hrs) are probably doing both of them the world of good. Far too many people in Ag today don't hardly see a person to talk too. As OllyBlogs would say 'what percentage are you today?'. I bet Roy's is higher after talking to Joe.
You are very right on that point 👍
What type of warranty is on the robotic milkers?
God they used give sawdust at our wood yard
Those were the days
3rd
Charlotte, i totally disagree with the mayo mats lady- yea the mats provide the comfort for the cows, but, you need plenty of bedding, wether its chopped straw, sand, sawdust, shavings, to keep the cows clean, teats clean! One thing with robots, as opposed to a parlour with a person in, is that you dont know how clean the cows teats are- a manual parlour, straight away the milker will know. Honestly, i looked at the mattresses when you were scrapping out and thought the ones i saw were not v clean. You may get away with that sort of thing, for a while, but, it will catch up sooner or later mainly in high scc and mastitis cases, lactation to lactation. Im all too aware of the sales pitch the mat, mattress people say, but clean cows is absolute paramount. Look at the average cost of 1 mastitis treatment is, milk down the drain, drug costs, possible toxic cases like lemon head lisa bless her, continued high scc from the case, reduced yield, time spent to get the cow and treat her. All adds up, makes sawdust look cheap.
Thank you
And the winner is 😊
Well he finished first and didn’t put his lights on at all 😂😂😂😂😂😂
You could call the pigs Olly and Josephine!
I see the DNA sticker. Have you had the theives round your yard as well this year?
is roy making dinner for joe
I always understood buttercups had a toxicity value and were a sign of overgrazing hence spraying off and reseeding.
Aren't you just a little late in mowing, or were you unable to mow sooner due to the weather? I think you should have mowed before the grass sprouts. You now have a lot of grass, but I don't think they will produce much milk from it. When the grass is gone, apply manure to the land and mow again in 6 weeks.
Second
Why do you leave so much grass at the edges?
Benefit wildlife. Pasture after first cut?
All of it to be fair didn’t manage to get round after the hedge cutter we got busy with the shed, wildlife love it and a bit for the sheep to go at
You could open a pig massage spa!
Have the pigs got names yet?
No 😂😂😂😂
Almost 25k subscribers! Camera lenses are foggy.
I’m always dirty that’s why 😂😂😂

Mate you totally won by A LONG WAY
@@charlotteashleyfarm Wow that was a long way. Do I get a special reward?😊 don’t know about pigs but don’t have kids you’ll never have time for them. 😂😂😂😂😂
Why haven't yee the cows out to grass yet??
It’ll be next year now
What if you got lost,
Lost on a field,
Alone, in a field,
And fell down a hole,
Alone on a field, down a hole,
Alone ,down a hole , on a field,
Down a hole,
With an OWL !!!!!!
Did you know that the cat needs microchipping !. What ever next
greetings from me to all! apart to cyclists and vegans 😅! forgive me from being late! still a full on tanker wa#ker
Just wondering did you find that bit of wire and I'm just wondering were you driving around the field to mark were to cut it or did you have some other reason for driving around the field
No I was telling him how far to stay out x
Jaysus girl, before your contractor goes book him for about the 15th of may, please, it will save you a fortune in meal, we milk cows all winter and aim for at least 80 percent dmd this will give you maintenance and about 12 litres of milk which when you compare it to 65 dmd which will need a little bit of meal to cover maintenance don’t mind support any milk production. By the way I didn’t know that you spoke Irish, you kept that very quiet where did you learn? Or do you just like the sound of it and annoy poor little Irish girls into saying something ( this bloody thing won’t let me write anything in Irish it keeps automatically changing it into English) . I know I can go to settings and change it but I couldn’t be arsed because I am pretty confident that you wouldn’t understand a word of it! By the way I was in Appleby about 30 years ago at the fair and it was pretty rough then so I suspect it is seriously rough now. Regards from Ireland.
That’s always the plan for mid may but couldn’t walk the on the land in that part of Cumbria early April never mind think about going on it with the fertilizer 🤦🏼♂️no year is the same am afraid easy putting dates on a calendar but Mother Nature is boss

Hallelujah!!!! The daily Jesus devotional has been a huge part of my transformation, God is goody, after years of addiction to drugs and sins God chased me down as I earn £112,500 monthly. My life and family has changed, Thank you Jesus!!!...
Hello how do you make such monthly ?? I'm a born Christian, and sometimes I feel so down of myself because of low finance but I still believe in God.
