      Katya is anglicized version of her real Russian Name Katushya,. That is the title of a very famous Russian folk song too. Every Russian has to learn to sing Катюша ruclips.net/video/AjZrV4wbdnQ/видео.html

    :Please include a bit of grammar as well because viewers get lost when you plug in the case related endings or verb conjugations in a sneaky way. I started Russian 3 yrs back mostly listening to your weekly word series but used to get baffled with the noun and verb endings.

    um #12 выпечка doesn't translate to bakery, it is pastry. Big difference. A bakery produces pastry.

    • @prufrock
      @prufrock 3 года назад

      @New Apollo Actually no. A bakery is a place where baked goods are produced and sold. Pastries are a kind of baked goods. They are not interchangeable in proper English. Ask oneself this: if выпечка is bakery, then what is пекарня? I'm sure some are going to point out if you google "bakery definition" then you'll see Oxford online claim bakery can be used as baked goods, but funnily if you dive deeper to Oxford's own official definitions, then it is only "a place where bread and cakes are made and/or sold" www.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/us/definition/english/bakery, full stop. Bakery can only mean baked goods because language is fluid and people make mistakes like this often enough it can be deemed understandable, but an understandable interpretation is not the same as correct, proper English.

    • @prufrock
      @prufrock 3 года назад

      @New Apollo I think that's proof lingvo is an unreliable app and you should not deem its definitions authoritative. In no situation should "pastry" ever, ever refer to a place. And without a doubt, in Russian пекарня only refer to a place. The etymology is simple: in English the -ery suffix represents "PLACE (emphasis mine) for, art of, condition of, quantity of" like nursery, brewery, bakery.

    Hola Katya dearest! I was telling my Russian teacher that a sign at the department store said 70% OFF., While Katya was saying to me just look at that girl in the red bikini, she's got 90% OFF!!! thus distracting me from my studies.That is very unseious of you as a teacher to say so, and should the higher authorities ever have heard you, they would probably have been very cross on your face and most likely have a good laugh when in the company of the other senior teachers. I told her that I am trying God Lord willing for a marriage certificate from the Russian Orthodox church, so that then I can have a beautiful wife and you can no longer distract me with your red bikini girls. Oh how I want to marry this cute Russian on line teacher, because learning on line is so very difficult. When I look into her beautiful St Petersberg eyes, charmed by her enchanting well formed lips and I say to her that I would please like to try a French kiss in Russian if she will kindly allow, she says to me that my grammer is quite incorrect. Well I have always been a bad student especially of grammer, and Katya said in the begining Katya mentioned that their is a twist to learning Russian, that reviewing a lesson is a most important part of learning a language. Oh my marie! What an exciting revision!!! While in the background I play a song....a kiss is still a kiss in Casablanca...Please, please, please be my Russian Orthodox Church certificate............. Hugs and love Taimuvr xxxxxxx
