Did the same swap in my '03 Tahoe 3-4 years ago. Fairly easy swap. Did it on my garage floor. Best mods was helping the front diff with 4x4 PosiLok and trashing the 4wheel drive push button panel and replacing it with the pretty useless cubby from a 2wheel drive truck. Zero issues since the swap but would really like to slip yoke eliminate it. The only upgrade that I'm aware of with the np241c. Nice to see other people doing this swap. The autotrac SUCKS!! Edit: you grabbed a useless cubby too. Nice!! Nice job on your harness too. I was able to get everything wired properly except for the front diff.. hence the cable engagement. Once less mess of wires and I do like the 4x4 posilok
How do you get the service 4wd message off or do you just have to deal with it? The 246 has 2 sensors that show speeds of the input and output shafts. Would love to do this conversion on my wife's 99 GMC Sierra but I don't want that stupid message on all the time.
@@michaelhodges9951 yes. So all 3 of those wires are grounds. Terminal A is where the ground is coming from. When the shifters goes into 4 Hi, it sends ground through terminal C to the front differential to engage. The front diff has constant power running to it but needs to see a ground signal. When it goes into 4 low, it still sends that ground through C to the front diff, but also sends ground through B to the ECU, telling it to make the shift points closer together.

Do you need do do the wiring to just have 2wd I did this swap using a 261 and it won’t shift past first because of the extra vss sensors
Should have found a np261 to just bolt it in without swapping shafts.
