I just don't see any need to tear down the homes at all. They have some issues but I have to think it could be addressed for a lot less then starting over.

It may cost much more to move a house than to tear it down, throw away everything involved, and build another structure in the new location. - Most houses that get moved are older, historical, and/or owned by people who have enough attachment to the house to put forth the expenditures.

Reminds me of something that happened in my home town. They demolished an entire block of OLD stores and stuff downtown, to build some new building... it stayed as a fenced off grass covered lot for at least 3-5 years (no one could get in, since it was fenced off, so it didn't even get to be used as a small park), spent several more years as a giant hole in the ground, and has been under actual construction for over 5 years. This has been going on for WELL over a decade. It's just been an eye sore for more than half of that time, and will be when it's done too. It's ruined the view from the 5-6 story library across the street (not that the view is important or very valuable, but it does add insult to injury). They ran out of money part way through, and it's not the first time it happened with the exact same people in charge.
