@@nixel5695 those types of places don’t have book keeping or records, most operate on a cash basis and it goes straight into their pocket and there is no paper trail of any kind.
They do not operate like your chain store tire centers do that would have records of how many tires came thru the store and then your idea would have merit but the corner tire shop run by uncle Eddie and the gang, well, they can’t hardly count to 4 let alone keep records of how many tires they’ve sold this month. Tires should have a redemption fee like plastic bottles and aluminum cans rather than the current disposal fee paid when you buy new ones. If people dig through trash cans for bottles and cans to turn in at recycling centers for extra cash, you would get the same enthusiasm by people going picking up discarded tires as well. Tire shops would also be motivated to properly dispose them .

My county here in NJ has an annual tire amnesty program. Residents can dispose of a certain number and type for free, while commercial entities can pay a fee (less than regular commercial disposal, which if you've seen any news about the many, MANY Philadelphia area tire and junkyard tire fires especially this year, commercial disposal doesn't actually seem to dispose of anything) for disposal of large quantities or other types of tires. The tires are ground down and the materials sifted. The belting gets recycled as scrap metal while the remainder is used as roadbed material.

After he dug out the roots from a tree and dug out the rest of the dirt . He brought in ground up tires and used asphalt for the base. I asked him about that? He told me he started using that material cause it fluctuates with the temperature and prevents cracks. 20 something years later driveway looks great!!!

Another missed opportunity. The state of Michigan could open a tire recycling center, it would be cheaper than putting out tire fires. Then they could've offered county jail prisoners a reduced sentence for community service, and have them help move the tires. They can be incinerated and the ashes used to make cinderblocks.

I live in a neighborhood with more then 20 used tire stores. Then at least 5 new tire stores. All with in 1 to1.5 miles. The township has a dumping problem. Go figure!!! If they were serious. cities would mandate all used tires to be made into new roads, new tires, playground and path cover. Has their poorly run cities ever herd of Earth Ship homes?

Wow really they began dumping again who would have seen that coming it's not like they didn't prosecute the offending tire shops.
I'm having a hard time comprehending this entire story and the way they went about fixing it, they clearly knew who it was, then enabled them after that they didn't even confront the offending party with the judicial system. Instead blaming the city and mayor over the clean up, while warranted was skipping a couple of steps. They solved the symptoms, not the problem. Simply placing a bucket under a leaky tap.
