Lmao I got some not answering the phone stories that would be great to tell but at this point they could still get me in a lot of trouble.
@Pabz Yeah. When am I in the same room as my phone with the sound on? Never.
I've literally thrown my phone into my closet and thrown a pillow on top of- screaming shut up at it- it SO many times. I've had my fair share of busy group chats. As an extrovert, love my friends. However, haha no thank you, you do not need to contact me 24/7. Or ever. Unless you need something from me (because Fe) or you just wanna hang out IN PERSON if the situation allows. (I have a long-distance Bff lol.) I love people, I love talking to people. I love hearing from the people I care about and adore random dropping in to say hi kinds of things in moderation. I still have my own life.
I felt so called out. It used to amaze me that some people don't know the power button doubles as a mute button for incoming calls. But now I understand not everyone is this adamant to avoid calls 😂
I am not even a dominant Ni user but when my auxiliary Ni is functioning, I put the phone in silent mode.
It is very bold of you to assume we Ne-doms know where our phones are.

The only people calling me are usually telemarketers, phone's just an expensive alarm clock, so I keep mine on silent...and ignore the calls, even though I'm supposed to be an extrovert. Ne-Ti. XD

LOOOOOOOOOL as an INTJ, what Te and Ni did is literally what I do all the freaking time! Either schedule a call with me or I don't want to talk to you at all. Nothing in between.
It's so embarrassing yet satisfying to make these videos, especially with my own functions. 😂 yep no in between.
I almost always get it by the first ring. I'm often asked,
- "but you didn't even check who that was. How do you know if it's an important call?"
- "If they really want to get a hold of me, they'll leave a voicemail."

The only thing worst than unsolicited, and unscheduled calls are random knocks on the front door, and noisy, intrusive neighbors.

The solution: there is no one that I may expect at this hour and I didn't go to others' doors to disturb them uninvited, so I don't answer the door.

I could feel my anger rise just hearing the buzzing/ringtone on this video.
I swear every notification feels like a demanding interruption.
And this is why my notifications are off.
HAHAHHA same here!! if there is anything I despise since.. young teenage years or earlier, it is the vibration or the sound of a f'N phone!
You should try some custom ringtone/notification settings. I put GLaDOS on mine and her robotic sass just amuses me. It doesn't make me pick up more often, but at least hearing the phone doesn't piss me off.
The old one I used for years:
"You are receiving a telephone call. For the convenience of those around you, please acknowledge it. Failure to receive this call in time will result in an unsatisfactory mark on your test report... followed by death. You aren't going to pick it up. How rude. Your parents would be ashamed of you. I'm ashamed of you and I don't even know you. No wonder nobody likes you. I find it hard to believe that you're receiving this call at all."
...or more technically, it doesn't piss me off as often. It's still temporarily irritating to get suddenly interrupted from my thoughts.

As an infj, in a job supporting people, I notoriously don't pick up when my phone rings, and I think, "not right now". I never even realized my initial reaction of ignoring calls was something so Ni of me. Since I've had this job, I've worked hard to develop the habit of calling back all the people who have called me, but it's usually once a day and I choose the time. Once you get me on the phone the Fe and Se is so clear and takes center stage. But every once in awhile the critical Ti comes out, and I rant just like this. So on point, Lindsey. So on point.
Hi Megan, I am also a helping professional and I do the very same thing! I take note of all the calls and plan a day and time to call everyone back after I've had time to digest that other people want/need to speak with me.
This is all soooo very true and accurate.
Well, me (INFP) and my boyfriend (INTJ) talk at least one hour and a half over the phone, every day... So, if that isn't true love I don't know what is. 😂
You can get 1,5h phone call from an INTJ EVERY DAY?! That's very astounding...)
I've had exactly one call that lasted an hour and a half in my entire life. Heck, I've only had 2 calls over 10 minutes, and they've both been with that same friend. Heck, they're pretty much the only person I'll even call without an important reason. I hope they know that they're one of the four people I care about

Hahahah God! I literally have two ways of answering the phone: Ni or Te. I either not answer or reschedule 😂. I have to REALLY push myself to respond to an unplanned call

Same here. I am INFJ but very protective of my time (I’m an enneagram 5)...the Ni and the Ti resonated with me. I will do Fe but avoid it because it’s draining. I think I may be a jumper...

As a Ti dom, I would never cancel a call on someone if they called. However, my phone's on silent so I'll probably never answer your call. Just text me, and don't you dare leave a message!
As an INTJ, unless I call you the chances of me even looking at who is even trying to call is extremely low. My phone is set to silent, and sometimes I even have the vibrate turned off. I just don't answer..... Totally relate to the last bit, lol.
I have three cell phones, and rarely take any of them with me when I leave the house.
Agree. And...'airplane' mode is your friend with added benefit of longer lasting charge. Been doing that for years...ha
My Ni thinks people will leave a voicemail. I want to know what they want to speak about first lol. Only the older aged ones do unless my friends are leaving a jestful message.
There's a few exceptions. I used to have bad phone anxiety but it's improved.

Ok I swear this video just convinced me that there is something to the whole cognitive functions thing. I'm an ENTJ and my phone is always silent and if I haven't scheduled a call with you I rarely will answer even if I happen to see there's an incoming call. I hate hate hate talking on the phone 😂

ENFP Consume-Sleep here, and I actually do the same thing most of the time too. Unless I really care about someone, I usually love to have a schedule when it comes to calling people.

Me even answering the phone is semi-rare.....unless you're immediate family living out of state. As someone born in '76, I see caller ID as one of the best technologies ever!
Other than the phone ringing, things that make my heart drop:
Unexpected doorbell/door knock.
I felt understood and exposed at the same time watching Ni 😆 so accurate! If I am too lazy to dismiss the call or toss my phone, I may give it the death stare until the caller hangs up.

As an INTJ, the Te and Ni are so relatable! My mom calls and I either wait the phone to go to voicemail or her to send me a text and it's usually "just checking on you" then I text her back. It takes all the willpower in me to call back. I even write in my list of personal rules of life: call mom back. If I do take calls, I prefer them scheduled but even then I dread the approaching time because my mom is all about small talk.
I have Se Doms as parents, so I see your pain. Believe me

Lol at Ni. I too always get in trouble with this. My thought always, if it's important, they'd text me to answer the call.
If i didn't have kids i wouldn't have a phone....when i was a kid growing up and had land lines. My mom would get so pissed when she came home because whatever phone that rang was the one that i took off the hook and shoved in a drawer... i figured if it was important they would come over.

You nailed Ni. I literally do that. I hate interruptions. I've even switched off my phone and put it under the mattress only to discover later I can't find my phone (head in my hands!!!!). I didn't realise that was such an Ni thing, but makes sense now!

The INTJ paradox - I've worked in telecom for 30+ years, and in cellular telecom for 20+ years. I *HATE* phones! But maintaining/repairing cellular switches/networks is cool and interesting and I'm working with things not people (almost always on the night shift - less people) and it pays the bills. My friends do *NOT* understand that.
My friends: You work on this stuff for a living, but you almost _never_ use the phone?

There's almost no one that I would answer immediately when it's a phone call. The whole point of texts and emails is to save me from all the talking.--ISTP
