- This video is me removing the 2ZZ motor out of my MR2 Spyder step by step. Hopefully this proves to be useful as a guide for people and their projects.
Thanks for watching.
Track: EOM (RIP) - Tmt Instrumental Авто/Мото
Seriously, thank you SO much for these videos! I just removed my engine last night and having these made it so much easier! ❤️
That's awesome to hear, that's the goal. Thanks for watching!
Previous 2001 1ZZ threw a rod, and I just picked up an 03 out of a recently wrecked Celica GT. I have it sitting in the bed of my truck now. I've done just about everything that can be done to my car for maintenance under the shade tree up until now, and am heavily considering doing this myself. Thanks for sharing.
Glad to help, that's why I put so much time into these.
Great video easy to fallow learned a lot just waiting for part 2
Nice! I'm looking forward to future episodes!
Thank you!
Thanks for the step by step on how to remove the bumper! Appreciated the organization tips, seems obvious but these things help so much for DIYers. I'm pretty good about doing that for the car projects, and sure wish I'd thought of that for dismantling a scooter that waited a month for a part and during that time all the bolts (30-40) got mixed together so there it sits in the garage waiting to be sorted!
Glad it was helpful, my organization blows up in my face all the time
I am currently removing the oily sucker out of my spyder. Thank you a lot for this series mate! Its my first time working on cars and this gave me hope, inspired me and made me able to remove the 1zz on my own. You are amazing❤
Happy to help, feel free to reach out with any questions.
@@IGDesigns Thanks, I actually do have one question. My spyder doesnt seem to have an ac pump. Was this an optional accessory?
@@dutchbeta1019 I believe came on all cars so yours may have been removed.
@@IGDesigns I found my manual and in there I found where the ac button should be. Instead of a button there is just plastic in my mr2. I do have a German mr2 so it might have something to do with that.
@@dutchbeta1019 as far as i know Ac came standard on hardtop cars.
It's always a good idea to carefully mark the hood mounting latches on both sides with a pencil to realign them the same way when replacing the hood. It saves a lot of headache getting the alignment right again. Some Toyotas have conical shaped bolts though which greatly help.
Yeah I remember deing with that on a previous car. Thanks for the tip, hopefully I'm smarter next time
Thank you for these videos, I had to remove my engine due to oil problems and I would've been much more lost without these.
You all probably dont care at all but does anybody know a method to get back into an Instagram account?
I was stupid forgot my login password. I love any help you can give me
@Dustin Edward Instablaster ;)
@Eugene Quentin I really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and im in the hacking process atm.
Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Eugene Quentin it did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thank you so much, you saved my account !
@Dustin Edward no problem xD
Why am I like this?
😅
Sweet car man
Brother has one with the 2zz
Swap is actually very affordable if you are patient and loon for deals
Makes plenty of power
Yup, it's there motor the car should have come with. I once read a rumor that it was a gentleman's agreement between Toyota and Lotus to underpower the Spyder to not threaten lotus.
IG Designs either way the 2zz is perfect in this platform
I just wish they had a better after market
My brother picked up some coilovers and the hardtop for a steal
@@pfgoutdoors4947 Yeah, the 2ZZ is a great motor, hopefully I'm able to improve it. I'm very jealous of the hard top, I need to start keeping an eye out.
IG Designs can’t wait to see what you do with this build
I am trying to a 1zz to 2nd swap
I hope this helps you out. I'll have more videos on the 2ZZ once it's removed.
@@IGDesigns Thanks to the video I have an idea where to start the rest my friends can help me.
Where is part 2
I'm at my computer working on it right now actually.
Where is part 2?
I still see it on the channel, you can’t find it?
Hmm not quite enough space in there for an LS
Nothing a little Sawzall can't fix
You dropped your tape at 5:07
There's a secret message
I appreciate you posting this video and I'm not trying to be overly critical, but I don't need to see you remove every single lug nut and watch you pump the jack in real time. Just fast forward through the obvious parts. Thank you though.
I agree, if you continue watching I learned to control the pace a bit better. It's a learning experience as I go.
Do a k24 swap
I'd love a k swap in there, but since I already have the 2ZZ in there I'm working with it (not that it's a bad motor). Plus the 2ZZ isn't as popular so I want to see what I can get out of it and hopefully help people out who decide to do the same. Who knows about further in the future though.
@@IGDesigns so why are you taking the engine out
@@aviomrany9602 I don't wanna give away all the surprises but the plan currently is to build the motor.
@@IGDesigns The 2zz is THE MOST popular swap for the spyder. Not sure where you got "isn't as popular."
@@yeunglo940 I meant overall, k series and b series Honda motors are way more popular than the 2ZZ.
the hardest, most time consuming and stupid way of performing this task. spent more time removing parts that don't need to be touched than the time required to actually remove the engine.
