What a perfect time for Affinity to rise up against Photoshop's trash policies. Great video Alex, please definitely make a tutorial series for it if possible!
I’ve been using affinity for a while and I love it. The ONLY thing that they lack are 1)AI generative fill and 2) an alternative for substance but this only applies for 3D artists. Completely recommend this.
Agree 100%, though AI/generative fill isn't much of a priority for me. If/when I need that, the Krita/free plugin looks to do extremely well with this. Time to support Krita too, I think. On Substance, can Blender not do the same? (No clue here, not my thing...)
@LV4EVR Substance is the best for texturing in 3D. Blender and other softwares don't come even close to the same capability. Blender is great to start learning texturing. It's annoying but we're still stuck with this cuz there's nothing better.
@@rsamna2494 yep, substance is for now the best software for texturing. However I wouldn’t say we’re stuck with it, I don’t use it and with the huge library assets and add in’s you can get for materials in Blender or just making them procedurally you can indeed get great results.
I can't wait for your Affinity tutorials! Your Davinci Resolve tutorials have really helped me master the software and speed up my workflows considerably. My Adobe subscription will end next March as well, and I already own the Affinity suite. Let's learn it!

It's an unbeatable price for this suit. I upgraded my v1 for even less. I can understand that a small part of Adobe users can't find a real alternative outside their ecosystem, but the rest should give it a try for sure.
Sounds excellent. Will give it a try. Subscription models are annoying when you keep paying but get few upgrades and bugs aren't fixed. You know who I mean!
Keep in mind that the lifetime ownership of this software is only covering the current version of the software, when Affinity upgrade to a major release you will have to pay again to get that upgrade, you can continue to use the older version though.
Yes, but it's ownership, the way that all software used to be and still SHOULD be. You CAN choose to upgrade, but are never REQUIRED to. Adobe only RENTS you stop paying, it stops working. Stupid practice on either side of that equation.
@@DaveKnowlesFilmmaker I don't think that was the case for most people. Affinity put out a statement suggesting the opposite. Are you sure it wasn't an upgrade from 2.00 to 2.10 or somesuch?
