I like how Genna tries everything in her power to try to make the game not seem like crap and TB... is TB lol.

20 minutes in and all I can think about is how badly I want them to be in an airplane simulator.
TB having Genna as a co-pilot giving instructions to him on how to fly the plane, must to be filmed and needs to include witty banter, this is so much better then tv.
This is incredibly entertaining.
I just wanted to say thanks to Gena and TB for not only streaming more but also putting it up on RUclips even thought on twitch you need to be a sub to watch prev streams. So I am really grateful.
Now i know why Genna does not help with the commentary parts of the game reviews totally stealing TBs thunder and we love every moment of it .Please never stop making these they are great

I can see Genna's sub count going crazy if they keep these epic videos going. They [Genna & TB] really do have brilliant chemistry (you would kind of hope so, what with them being married an all). :-)
Genna's laughter at the beginning might just be the very best thing I heard all day.

I like these research videos, for one thing it reminds of the videos from early in WTF is' life, when the format was "TB plays a game blind", which is what originally got me subbed to this channel, and it also lends itself to content akin to the SimCity video, which I really enjoyed.
AntshKhel Agreed! It's kind of embarrassing actually because everything we did should have worked just fine had the towers also been attacking at double speed.
This series (of sorts?) is actually very enjoyable non-content. I'd like to see videos with Genna tagging along while TB checks games out for his actual WTF Is... Series on a regular basis. GIMME MOAR
I like how Genna is like "Oh this is so easy,you really suck" while TB is playing at twice the freaking speed.
Although TB didnt notice the towers shoot at a constant rate regardless of FPS, which means that at 2FPS he has 30 times to the damage per second he had on 60
Oh wow, that is awful
Meaning, 60 fps isn't twice as difficult due to reaction time, but because enemies take twice as long to die.
MrPicklesAndTea Nah it also has to do with the reaction time, since everything moves twice as fast. basically it goes like this:
at 60:
x2 move speed
x0.5 DPS
therefore, 4 times harder.
Daniel Breger I wouldn't say the 2x move speed makes it much more difficult, the game runs pretty slow to begin with.
That is awful! How did the developers not notice that!
Good to see this channel getting love lately. I always like getting to see more than one personality. Don't get me wrong, listening to TB is great, but I happen to like the interpersonal dynamics more and it's neat getting to hear Genna for a change.

Did anyone else notice that the cannon shot at the same cool down regardless of the framerate? It wasn't just double speed that was killing TB, it was that the towers were half as effective.
I didn't know that these videos were around. It made my day, these are brilliant!
This is awesome, ever since TB started publishing his research into games,
starting with Stick It To The Man, I watch a lot more of him. It benefits the WTF videos, and now the research being posted on your channel, Genna, I officially subscribed and can't wait for what's next :)

I really do love getting to see (hear) these interactions. Genna is every bit as witty as John is, and it's great to see him struggle to get the upper hand. Hilarious.
great idea to put the research vids on Genna' channel, it lets us find them easy but doesn't flood the main channel. thank you both for showing us the research, the funny is great together. :)

Anyone else noticed that in "child mode 3.0" the fire rate has relatively increased by a lot. So it seems the fire rate is not fixed to the frame rate at all... So normal 60fps your towers are firing at half the normal speed... :/

The first ten minutes are basically a testimony for why you need to build some barracks. 3 stars, first time every time. Also, all upgrades go to reinforcements until you max them out. Barracks and tough reinforcements are how you tarpit waves so your actual damage dealers can kill them.
I disagree. If you try playing 3-stars + the harder modes for each level you'll quickly see how useless barracks are at the start of each level. Just try and play the 3rd level for the 3rd mode (can't recall the name of it). I recall not building barracks for the first 4 waves I think. Your logic is sound and applies to general TD gaming, but this pup is a tad different.

And in my experience, the later in the game it gets the more valuable barracks become. Once you get templars they're almost indestructible and can stall anything.
What does later levels have to do with this discussion? You mentioned "the first ten minutes" being a testimony for the value of barracks.

And the most hilarious thing about this video - as of 45 minute they still didn't understand that towers shoot at the same speed regardless of the framerate, even when TB put the game to 1 fps and there were three cannonballs in the air simultaneously.

Just knock to the fact that if you beat the game at double the speed you are pro at any of the lesser speeds.
but why is it so fast? I played the flash version and beat it, same goes for the sequel, and it's slower

They are doing it all wrong :( The barracks are to hold (anti leaking), so they go in the back, with towers ahead of them so they can weaken the enemy before it enters in melee. That level required 2 barracks in the bottom, and 4 towers around the middle slots. THEN you move to the top of the map.
I instantly like the Genna and John combo more than TB by himself!
after catching the stream on this i went and played it on armor games, when this gets discounted i may just buy it as it sucke up my whole night

For the last years every single time I hear the word rush I will go and play KR on the first chance I get. This game was sooooooo goooood. Love to see TB sucking @ it.
"Barracks only spawn like 3 soldiers"
Which is why you put down multiple Barracks near each other, preferably with overlapping ranges that cover several paths so that you can move them around as needed depending on what the wave is sending at you. Just intersperse some Archer and Mage towers with similarly overlapping fields of fire and you'll win just about any engagement.
I mean, really, is this actually that difficult to figure out?
Funny that the windmills spinn the same speed on 30 AND 60 frames. Only the playable stuff changes
towers seem to be on a regular timer thou - so you can slow the waves and keep the towers fast.. right right? so like on 60 the towers basically are to slow to keep up..
On the first level can't you just put the artillary in that saem spot and then put barracks at the closest positions and then get the artillary upgrade? I seem to remember that working perfectly.

Barracks + Archers will get you through most of the early levels easily. With enough upgrades archers will even take down armoured foes, though you might need a few mages to start with.
The cannon turrets shoot every 3 seconds, regardless the current fps. In 2 fps kid mode you can see 3 cannon balls in the air at the same time.
Artillery everywhere! get them all grouped in 1 spot and let the artillery blast them all at once.
there is a windowed mode option, in the unity options menu on startup.
Oh God, I remember this as a Flash game. :3

I used to play a monster tower defence game, it was fun for a while. This game seems very similar except for the theme and graphics.

On Mac, the game runs at the correct speed at all times, as far as i can see. Acing level 2 is easily doable with a Trackpad, no hectic and constant forcing of new wave spawns.
I love the struggle for 3 stars on double enemy speed
So funny with the "high" speed due to the fps :D
Wow, the cannon reloads in real time. So if you slow down the game to 15fps the cannon will actually shoot twice as fast!

I loved this episode very entertaining! also this video finally made me purchase Kingdom rush for my Nexus 5! :) However it's highly overpriced on steam!
If this is as good as prettiest princess, then this is gonna be amazing.
