- I thought it might be fun to show everyone what my husband thinks of some international snacks. While we have traveled quite a bit, and generally sample the local cuisine, we don't always get a chance to try snacks.
This box was purchased with my own money (not sponsored) from Universal Yums www.universalyu... which is a monthly international snack subscription box service. This particular box cost $25, but they also offer a smaller sized box for $13.

In other news, you really should visit. While you CAN get gunned down by cartels, you'd have to heavily go out of your way to achieve that (as in go to the deepest parts of the jungle) so you should be safe for the most part. Just take care of your expensive gadgets and never take them out in public/trust them around strangers (or they'll get stolen, muggings for electronics are sadly common). Other than that, people will probably be super kind to you to take your money (btw, the exchange rate is amazing right now). Even if you go for only a week, there's plenty to do in Bogota to fill that time up, and in the city you'll be completely safe. Regardless of how I described it, I do believe it's a fantastic place and definitely worth your visit! If nothing else, for delicious snacks. Of which, btw, you missed out on Arequipe which is sin. If you love GOOD caramel, you HAVE to try it.

Hey I'm from Colombia, glad you liked the box, the funny thing is that those snacks branded "la niña" are pretty low end cheap stuff, and there are way better versions of those. Also drug cartels haven't gunned down people here in decades, so unless you want to go deep into the jungle where no one lives and pay them a visit, you are pretty safe. And if you liked the snacks you should know the regular food is even better.
For the next box, make sure to warm up the "stroopwafels" by placing them on top of your tea/coffee mug

As someone from Colombia, it makes me happy to see so many of my childhood snacks still there and go over so well! One bad thing is they can't bring the condensed milk-based snacks which are AMAZING but don't think you can bring 'em over.
I've seen almost all these. This is my favorite one, so far. I would love to see Genna do more of these.
As for the Watermelon thing, honestly, I hate real watermelon, but I like most watermelon flavored stuff.

I am glad that you tasted our candy's, Ginna and TB, they are really good, but our food is better! =) you should visit Colombia for tourism, is one of our strong points, is a really beautiful country and really cheap for you =D

Im colombian and I admire TB, thats why I came here to tell you to get rid of those steorotypes you mentioned, Im speaking of the ones that go like "DRUG CARTELS", "MARIHUANA", "EVERYTHING THERE IS JUNGLE" , Colombia is full of great people. We are not fully developed yet, but we are on our way to get there!. You`d be amazed by our hospitality and our charm, I guarantee 100% that if you come here TB, nothing bad will happen to you, its an amazing experience. Try Colombia youd be amazed.

Im guessing that colombias (relatively) close proximity to america is why they have such good snacks, its easy for them to acquire successful snacks to study and emulate

As a Colombian adopted by a US family, this pleases. Makes me feel in touch with my birth country
Netherlands : We have a bajillion lays crisps flavors, gave cookie its name (stroopwafel, speculaas), invented chocolate spread, and have unique festive food (pepernoten) and of course black licorice candy (drop). Most big-shot chocolate is good but foreign origin. Since they have also sent chocolate spread in the past, you might also receive something called "Hagelslag" this is usually chocolate meant to be put on buttered bread. Also, certain typical cookies include the use of almonds or almond paste, so Im not sure if thats relevant to peanut allergy/disgust.
Its a shame that our cheese and deep-fried snacks will probably not reach you. Looking forward to relate to next episode!
Expect "Autodrop" in the Dutch box. Car shaped winegums in fruit, cola and/or liquorice flavour. Their catchphrase is "So good, it should be illegal"

Almost half the snacks we (used to) get here in Venezuela are from Colombia, so I can wholeheartedly agree that this snack box was filled with high-quality content (as was the video itself, that sepia replay moment made me lose it, thanks XD).
Being Spanish, and following you two for quite some times, It's beautiful seeing TB fuck up Spanish words like that, blissful, entertaining :3

I'm glad you liked all of those TB, I grew up eating all that stuff. La niña IS a big deal, but Colombina is an even bigger deal, and Supercocos are basically like national candy at this point, they've been a generational thing now, the presentation doesn't even change.
They come in pops too, you'd like those a lot.
The Nutty - Piazza thing is not your invention i'm afraid, every colombian kid has tried it at least once, when they didn't have the tiny spoon for Nutty (it's called Nucita here). Did you get the tiny spoon? is adorable.
And guava paste doesn't contain mango. You probably don't like guava tho, that's okay,

Colombian food is so good. I hope you are able to find a Colombian restaurant in your area to try the food out. The national dish is called "Bandeja Paisa" be warned though its a ton of food on one plate. Guaranteed to induce a food coma after consumption. Cheers!
TB said "we don't do watermelon stuff in the UK." In the 80s when I was at school in the UK, lots of people bought these giant gobstoppers called 'Watermelons', they were like a large round candy that came in a box and they were, indeed, watermelon flavoured. They were so big that you couldn't suck them all in one go. They came in a cardboard box which pupils would place the gobstopper in when they needed a rest.

"Coffee & Cocaine" was what came to my mind for this one. Instead, I got Cats & Coconuts, and the sexiest sepia slow-mo ever!
And next month we'll have the marijuana jokes rolling in, I'm sure. Wouldn't be surprised if you just got a bunch of empty wrappers in the box because the shipping crew in Amsterdam had a lethal case of the munchies.

Colombina exports a lot of their snacks to other latin american countries (mine included), they are actually pretty good at making treats!
I've been on vacation to Colombia and it's very safe. Sure, you shouldnt walk around in some areas etc but imo it's not too different from any big city in the US

well, im not from colombia but i have many close colombian friends, and their food is amazing. is very similar to my country's food (due to its proximity and culture) but you guys gotta try some of their food, it really is amazingly tasty.

Barney Harris I ordered a few new parts for my computer from diverse (German) online-shops, most packets came with a small Haribo gummy bears bag inside.
Fun fact about the artificial banana flavouring. It's actually based off of the Gros Michel banana that almost went extinct in the 50's and 60's. The banana we eat now is called the Cavendish banana and tastes dramatically different.

So TB is going to have a love-hate relation with next month's box... We have a strange fascination with all kinds of licorice in the Netherlands... but if it's in there he has to try the honey-flavored licorice though!

Hmm, the Netherlands next. I wonder how that's going to go. As someone from the Netherlands, I can't really think of many snacks that are typically Dutch. We got plenty of stuff to put on our bread and some hot meat snacks that aren't really sold in other countries but I believe that most of our snacks are either inspired by other countries or straight up come from other countries. Just a warning btw, be prepared for cheap tasting chocolate. We don't eat expensive chocolate a lot.
p.s. Can't wait for TB to find out that most of our chocolate snacks contain nuts. It's going to be a fun video to watch.

Ultracity6060 I might be wrong, but just based on watching these food unboxings I can delineate that TB likes spices but not too spicy, fish but not fish flavoring, absolutely no nuts or wasabi, and typically things that are fruity. Apart from the nuts and wasabi, they are relatively similar tastes to my own.
So at the risk of being redundant, I'd enjoy his perspective on the UK box.

I'm so glad you had the chance to try some of our sweets. Every Colombian would tell you to come by on vacations and try our food, tourism and people (I mean don't try our people but get to know them), we're awesome and want the world to know it, despite world's reluctance to do so.
I got that same box and I was just waiting to see what your opinion of it was. I LOVED that coconut wafer thing. SO good. If there was a way to get more of that coconut wafer thing I'd have nothing for dessert but that wafer it was so good. And am SO looking forward to the netherlands box next month! I'll barely finish my columbia box by the time the netherlands arrives. But please please please universal yums please put some version of those stroopwafels OMG I will love the box forever
ProTip: As someone from Texas, where we have AAAALLLLL the Mexican and Tex-Mex food, and loads of random Central/South American food, Central/South America has pretty much the best food on the planet.
I love German food, Asian foods, Indian, Italian, etc etc etc etc, but god damn, the South/Central American food is addictive and glorious.
I'm just going to assume that all of your South/Central American boxes will turn out pretty well.
