- I thought it might be fun to show everyone what my husband thinks of some international snacks. While we have traveled quite a bit, and generally sample the local cuisine, we don't always get a chance to try snacks.
This box was purchased with my own money (not sponsored) from Universal Yums www.universalyu... which is a monthly international snack subscription box service. This particular box cost $25, but they also offer a smaller sized box for $13.
If you enjoyed this type of video, please leave a thumbs up or a comment below so I know you want to see more videos like this.

As one of your 3 Turkish viewers I'm extremely offended by the contents of that box.
Can you explain why? What should they have included?
+Will Fitzpatrick Turkish delight that is actually sweet for starters. Vegan? Really? There was no Eti (the brand) in the box. No chips. None of the classic chocolate bars like Choconat etc. Torku is like the poor mans brand in Turkey and ironically the thing he liked the most is a rip off of Eti Cin. I could go on.
+Will Fitzpatrick my guess is they sent him the cheapest stuff instead of the popular good stuff, see also the UK box.
+CyrusBluebird Yeah this seems to be the chase with most (if not all) boxes.
+CyrusBluebird pretty much all boxes were like that sadly, its a ripoff
Wait no bathrobe? What sorcery is this?
+Breton Charles I was just about to write the exact same comment, word for word. xD
DoYouHaveTheBallz I had dibs on that uncreative comment brah.
First!
I'm fucking triggered right now.
+DoYouHaveTheBallz I was gonna go with the lack of cleavage...
godpigeon Hahaha
Watching in October 2019 just to hear TB's voice again. :(
Doing the same right now in 2024
You are right about dryness of Turkish snacks, but there is a reason for that. You see, Turkish people are the number one tea consumers of the world. We drink tea with almost every snack. Apparently that shows in snacks we make too. We can't possibly notice dryness since we are always drinking tea :)
+Jokeritu Also you should try fresh halva at least once in your life. Even most Turkish people don't know how epic fresh halva is, but once you try it, the regular packaged stuff tastes like dirt.
***** lol
Most of those products were the worst they could've sent you... Seriously
+lyravega Yeah and it's all dried up.
Where are you from?
F.ck you f.ck you country
Learn to speak
+Bora Gunduz lmao lrn2english
1:48 I'm a turkish viewer of TotalBiscuit!
+Crowbar i am not alone !
+Crowbar Me too. I'm actually glad he tasted Turkey. I was wishing for this moment. :P Anyway I don't eat most of those snacks here too. Not very good selections.
Çağrı M. I agree. Could be better selection, but if thats how turkey presents itself to the rest of the world than thats how it is.
+Crowbar ok cool stop trading with ISIS
All Turks live in Germany anyway so its Fine how he pronounced it.
+Aggro Gamez Thank you for enlightening us with your ignorance alongside your shitty sarcasm.
Wulfric55 Dude, it's funny. Even for a tolerant german like me.
+Aggro Gamez it is funny.. even for a tolerant belgian guy like me
+Wulfric55 hello tumblr
hi tumblr!
That's not a turkey.
+Miroslav Radev aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Where are you from?
+Arda Tanış I'm from Bulgaria.
+Miroslav Radev Yeah, he's more of a ham.
+Jackalope Long bellied pig as they're known by.
Long time Turkish viewer here! Yes TB you actually do have Turkish viewers. And at least one who respects and loves you.
ScrinGeneral17 hello türkiş TB takipçisi!
Başar Üstün Hello there my good sir ;)
I give this video 8 keks out of 10.
Almost topkek
+gitarkin 8 dankeks
+gitarkin x 3
Tb looks healthier in this video than he has in a while, or is it just me?
+Jason Gebicki i thought he looks a little worse , like tired
+David Guerrero Marquez
pale.
+Miroslav Radev *insert witty joke about turkey, and white meat*
Mike dN insert sarcastic comment vaguely touching upon racism
+David Guerrero Marquez I think he's just not clean shaven. Usually he's more clean shaven and sporting a goatee. He might also have greyed some due to the stress of work and his health. As he's said, he has issues with anxiety. I'd say keep comments like that to a minimum since it is inevitable that he may eventually not look like his old self, and he's just trying to live life as best as he can. I don't think he'd want stuff like "Dude you look like shit" being said to him. It's sort of a reminder of the state of his health. Not saying you were being rude or anything.
Most of our snacks are dry because it is almost guaranteed they are consumed with tea ^^
I just have to say, the little subtitles you add in make me laugh way more than they should!
TB seems more happy now that he has disconnected from media.
the bit TB read on the pizza sticks i'm VERY confident was actually german. it sounded like "Knuspriges Snackgebäck mit Kräutern" which would be crunchy baked snack with herbs. Because we have a significant turkish population in germany, there are turkish snacks being made for the german market.
I'll stop germaning all over you and let myself out now :D
Some people pay good money to be germaned all over ;)
Fallen Fort hahahaha xD
+CloakingDonkey Yeah, i agree. Pretty sure it is in fact german. But hey, let's all make fun of him ... Americans ;)
+Zeo Noir The only problem with that, TB is British. I'm not sure, but he might take offense to being called an American. ;)
+Fallen Fort Others very dislike being germaned all over, sincerely, most Western European Countries, 1940 AD
I loved the annotations, and Freya/Loki made the perfect backing singer for this one! keep going guys!
I love the little subtle editing! I always look forward to these videos.
One thing that being part of this Universal Yums program for a year has taught me is that America has arguably the worst food in the world.
Everything here is additive-loaded, overly processed putrescence. And even with all that, snacks taste like pond scum compared to so many others these countries have to offer.
+SirJamesDTech Our snacks fucking suck.
Armateras All of the stuff that's good here seems to be to be taken from other cultures. American is Lay's chips, frozen pizza, and chocolate with the taste of raw suet.
+SirJamesDTech Congratulation! You are no longer stuck in the Matrix. ;)
+SirJamesDTech Yep. I pretty much have to hunt for shit here that is all natural to avoid the various chemicals and preservatives that cause so much of the illness here. I hope that I will be able to move to Europe some day (preferably Germany since I can speak German) so I can escape the poison which they put in our food.
+SirJamesDTech brookside that is all
My mom and I love watching your videos, especially the "TotalBiscuit Tastes..." series! :]
Thank you both for making taking the time to make these!
i'm turkish and this is so fun already 1:40. //oh god freeze dried turd 3:15 (it is actually tasty when good)// NEIN CAT TAT! 5:30// we also have one called topkek! 7:30 // release the krokan 8:00 // we eat snacks with tea mostly. we drnk lots of tea 11:50// the apple one is not good. 16:30 again you need tea(as much as you don't like as much) //
i was waiting for this and the UK one so 2 in a row. shame both boxes couldve been way better. this channel is complete for me. anything more is extra treats. ty both.
It took me a whole three minutes to work out I had already watched Ashens go through the same box. :P
Yep, Romania has Ulker products, you probably had Biskrem here.
As a turkish follower for a long long time, this gave a nice smile to me. But the contents of that box, man. There are some things there that i haven't even seen being sold :)
Biskrem are totally romanian (or sold a lot in Romania). I had such a nostalgia trip when I saw them because I used to eat them in between classes in high school!
Yes, the reaction to the molasses nut filled snack is priceless. My friend started a subscription to Universal Yums because of your video series. It is very fun seeing Johns reaction to stuff. We will even joke, "Oh TB is not going to like this snack".
It's 23.00 in my country, the day before Valentine's Day and I'm watching a grown man eating Turkish snacks and sweets....
"Freeze dried turd" Ah you guys :D Thanks for the laughs haha
The Turkish Delight I got in my box was so good that I ordered a couple bigger boxes of it from Amazon. I also really enjoyed the sesame thing.
3:13 I cracked up... Even though I'm an owner of three cats and I should be used to it.. It got me.
I wish TB do at least one of these "Tastes" videos with Jesse Cox.
The thing about sesame is that we in Turkey really get used to it from a young age on. Arguably the most popular breakfast item (Simit) is full of sesame seeds. We really like our sesame seeds in Turkey :)
I had a doner kebab years ago over there, i almost died happy on the spot it was so good, also had a stew that comes in a clay pot and the way they get it out is break the top off, so it cooks in the pot, was also good....fruit teas are also good, so much good food over there, if you ever get the chance genna....GO!
I am one of the 3 Turkish viewers and I love it.
Can confirm that it's entirely possible you've had Biskrem in Romania. We have them here and, I have to agree, they are really good.
Sesame sticks in a salad (or by themselves) are one of my favorite things!
In case anyone is wondering what "Knuspriges Snackgebäck mit Kräutern" (min 1:42) means it roughly translates to "crunchy biscuits with herbs".
Don'r worry TB, 1 of your 3 turkish viewers isn't offended :P
The banana wafers' banana creme might've been made with the Gros Michel variety of banana, which is still grown in places that panama disease hasn't reached (ie, not Africa or South America) and supposedly tastes a lot more like the traditional artificial banana flavor.
They are dry. Because many of the Turkish Biscuits or snacks of that type are commonly served with tea or dipped in tea before eating :) Try dipping Biskrem in tea ;)
The reason most of the Turkish snacks being dry is that Turks favor their tea time and most of the sweets are consumed with a glass of black tea
Just gonna ask this now, am I the only one who was going into this video expecting it to be 20 minutes of TB eating a turkey sandwich? Though I guess that humor would have been about as dry as a good chunk of the box.
I kid, but thanks to your videos of you two getting a good bit of enjoyment (and sometimes even John/TB's dismay), I've had a growing interest in this box service and may jump in to share this with my family.
Thanks for the nyan-catent as always (had to make the pun in at least one of these comments).
Tavuk Göğsü(the one that he couldn't really pronounce) actually means Chicken Breast. Pretty self explanatory in Turkish.
Genna in Romania we do in fact have Biskrem and Clip. Being in close proximty to Turkey we share alot of sweets and snacks.
Is that just an unshaven face or is he sowing the seeds of a full beard?
+homeycdawg the true mystery
+homeycdawg its chemo i think
+homeycdawg Hopefully, by the time the next video comes out, TB will have a full, Jumanji, Robin Williams beard.
+Ehab Atia Also the reason hes been wearing hats.
+Im a wizard Pretty sure he did that long before the chemo, not that the chemo made his hair situation any better though.
LOL. i love these videos cause TB's reactions to things just make me laugh too hard.
You certainly had Biskrem in Romania. Been eating those since I was a child.
I love those kinds of sesame snacks!
I ate tons of Biskrem stuff while I was in Lebanon, love it.
It is quite common for Turkish biscuits to be dry since basically everyone in Turkey drinks tea multiple times a day. Most biscuits are to be consumed with tea.
That German reading made my day. Also, need TB tastes Germany!!!
The sesame things are amazing. I dunno where to buy them anymore but I used to love them as a kid. TB is nuts.
Heh. Nuts.
Glad this video came out. It's interesting to see the opinions and reactions, even if these snacks werent the best.
Keep up the great work!
Awesome, keep em coming. Can't wait for the TB's homemade british box. They did include lots of crap in that one.
Also I need to find me some of that giant jaffa cake thing. Jaffa cakes are the best (McVitie's ones, not the cheap ones in the uk yum box.).
we have a "kek" that's actually called topkek damn it! who put this box togather? they missed all the good stuff.
That noise he made when he ate the sesame thing, so funny :D
The sesame bar reminds me of the boxes of Puerto Rican candy my grandfather always sends my mom. I despise all of them, hopefully TB tastes Puerto Rico soon.
Tonight on "TB Tastes": the desert. Water please!
I am pretty sure, that the text TB read on the first thing actually was German xD "Knuspriges Snackgebäck mit Kräutern" oder so...
You celebrate Thanksgiving in February? :P
Goodness, the popup text on this video was awesome. :-) Nice touch!
Yo I love that sesame bar stuff, that is too good.
the banana flavour on the wafers isn't necessarily "fake", its just like a banana that has gone almost extinct due to a deadly fungus, so we arnt used to it. the banana mention is called the gros michel, if you can ever find one, upon eating it you'll find it very similar and " artificial" tasting just like the banana flavoured pudding and candies. not exactly the same, but that's more or less why they taste so strange to us,its just not the normal banana flavour we are used to in the fruit.
I love the intros to your videos, they always get a good laugh out of me.
I thought that this would just be their thanksgiving family dinner :P
"Eat the sandcake"
My keyboard is now covered in coffee.
That "dried turd" ( the good quality ones) is literally the most delicious thing for me.
I love how he's wearing a shirt with a Crusader on it and is eating Turkish food. Deus vult!
TB: "Why don't you give it a try?
Genna: "Uh, no."
TB: "Coward..."
I find Genna to be hilarious xD Her commentary makes those vids!
How did I miss this video being posted? Love the tasting videos
He didn't eat the gum.
The sesame sand cake... hehe... these are so much better when he finds something he doesn't like.Add on: That cat in the background....
I got a Universal Yums sub for my sister after I heard TB and friends talk about it on Co-Opt. Today I went to my sister and she pointed out that molasses rubber treat. I am looking forward to hearing about her experience with it now :D.
Turkey got a lot of yummy yumms. Thought it would be more nuts, but maybe that is more Arabic? Still they got lots of weird and cool combinations in their cakes and stuff..
I love that shirt, favorite movie of all time.
i have to say, i was quite a fan of a sesame honey bar we had here, it was really good
That white Turkish delight is called nougat here in Sweden.
When are you coming to Portugal to try our desserts? We are real sweet tooths :)
I just love the sesame halva. I think I eat 5 of those at one sitting once. Washed it down with some coffee. There are some things I can't understand about TB :)
I like Genna voice, it's pretty and easy to listen. :)
Thanks to the Turkish diaspora in Germany, we have soooo much good stuff from Turkey over here. One of my favorites is Adicto by Eti. All the Ülker stuff is good to go, too, imo. Too bad you can't just put some nice Egetürk sucuk in the mail. ;_;
As one of your Turkish viewers I thoroughly enjoyed watching you suffer. But tbh those were some pretty poor quality snacks.
EDIT: most snacks are dry because we eat them with our çay (tea)
Sir excellent choice in T-shirt, referencing the Monty Python and the Holy Grail scene with the man eating bunny if accidental :) just funny coincidence. If intended masterfully done Sir, masterfully done.
These are cool videos..... this is my first foray into your TB tastes series.... I may order a couple of the items from Turkey.... And you save us the pain of trying the sesame cardboard crunch..... lol...
Can you tell me How you get all these snacks from the different countries?
Please reply and enlighten me as to how.... if you don't mind revealing your secret.
I wish the best to both of you Genna and Total Biscuit....
And your cat is quite articulate....... lol....
It could be said that it has an EXPLOSIVE taste
TB:"That time I need Jesse and I dont have him."
We all need some Cox.
I love how for the first 5 seconds or so, he looks like "God damnit woman, why do I still let you sit me here and make these videos?"
As a Romanian I can assure you probably had Biskrem here, we eat lots of those :P.
oh gawd I love Toffix :X We have them in Bulgaria as well. So good. :D Also Biskrem really look like Tutki? I looove tutki
As a Turkish viewer I extremely enjoyed this video :D
You really need to revisit Finland with a box entirely dedicated to that. I'd literally pay to see TB eat the truly awful Finnish "goods" like some extremely strong Salmiakki and the Turkish Pepper variations.
It would be cool to see an episode where you have the cats sample different kinds of fish and chicken in order to get their commentary.
His reaction to the Sesame thingy was great :P
We need a super cut of all the videos called TB tastes the colonies!
Pretty certain the first package-thing he read wasn't turkish. Sounded very german to me. Which I wouldnt be surprised. A lot of products here in Austria/Germany are made in turkey.
UUUu we have Albeni here in romania too ^.^ poor man's twix, and yeah we have biskrem here too i love the apple ones.
okay I might be addicted to these
We need another video showing his reaction to the nasty pine gum! I was really looking forward to seeing that and then the video was over.
TB in every video: "I'm not a big fan of __insert food__ " :D
Including bacon!!
The Turkish delight I got in my box was a mix. It came in a box, covered in sugar, wrapped in tissue paper. It had rose, lemon, nut, and mint. 4 cubes of each. It's weird that you got something so different :-/
