Fell in love with Las Terrenas when I first visited 10 years ago.. Went back and bought a vacation home last year. Good video guys, keep up the good work.
I've found your videos about a month ago and I've been watching how much you like my country🥰 I especially like that you are showing that there is more of the Dominican Republic than Punta Cana. I'm going to guess that your next destinations is our mountains towns Jarabacoa, Constanza and trust me you are not going to be disappointed.😉It's true Dominican Republic has it all! I hope you keep having a wonderful stay in here. If you can try to go to the south of the country. Thank you for your wonderful videos!!!😊😊
Awesome!!! Las terrenas used to be one of my favorite places. It’s crazy to see how much is grown over the years. Europeans started visiting Samana in the 80s BTW. The French are the ones who actually started migrating to this area and had the vision of recreating a little bit a France in Las Terrenas. Then the Italians followed, although they already had a huge presence in the southeast (Bayahibe, Juan Dolio, etc). Germans and British started migrating to Cabarete in the late 90s. And now is the Russians. For some reason, they are moving to the DR by the hundreds. 😂
You guys are amazing & don’t forget that the deep southwest of the Dominican Republic, is geographically removed from the country’s primary tourist destinations - but those who get closer will find that remoteness has its perks: the most biodiverse reserve and parks in the country, surfing beaches drawing athletes in search of their next break, fresh water cascades turned natural recreational swimming parks, birding havens tucked amid mountain ranges, and plantations producing some of the country’s finest coffee.⬇️ 1. Bani,Dunas desert the only desert in the Caribean 2.azua,playa blanca, ocoa bay 3.Barahona,Los patos and San Rafael 4.Pedernale,Bahía De las Águilas
Great video of las Terrenas. We are going in 3 weeks. For stopping in my hometown in Inoa San Jose de las Matas then to las terrenas. You guys are more than welcomed to my town
Hello Trevor and Anna, Loved this video of the town, with its European accent. The crepe and Croque Monsieur looked delicious as well as the cappuccino.Mmmm. You are both so tanned you resemble the native population. Soo glad you are enjoying your winter season. Nova Scotia has been sporting temps around -22 C these past few days and nights. So we live vicariously thru your balmy travels. Thank You so much.☺️
Oh my goodness lm suffering watching this videos I was born on the south of dr and our house is like a five minutes walk l really miss my town the sun rise and sun set is the most beautiful thing ever I can’t wait to travel to enjoy this wonderful scene and visit my mom thanks for sharing your videos
Another little history of Samaná. After the US Civil War a great number of African Americans moved to Samaná where they started a new life. They're locally called "Cocolos" so don't be surprised if you meet a black Dominican with an English last name.
Cocolos were African slaves and they came to DR from the English colonies in the Caribbean and not from the US. The majority of them lives in San Pedro De Macoris. Some of them speak English and maintain their African culture like the food and dance.
Those cruise-ship buildings are awesome. We always love when people put some fun character into a structure. It almost reminds us of the Wisconsin Dells hahaha! 😂
Always enjoy your videos, and as an Ontarian coming to Las Terrenas in 5 days, it was great to see what you thought! I think Cabarete is great too (love all the restaurants right on the beach) but LT maybe has a bit more to offer?…. And Samana province has so many wonderful things to do. Looking forward to your return, and to see if maybe you stay a while next time ☺️ BTW, I feel you have the best travel videos out there… great info, fun and relaxed delivery, and you make me want to visit everywhere you go! Cheers!
Wow that means the world to us Krista. Especially given there are so many great travel channels out there. Thank you 🤗 we will be back to LT for sure. Already planning it - Anna
Besides DR being beautiful, those cruise ships buildings are so cool! How fun to find some international flair. Thanks for sharing your adventures in the DR, it inspired our friends to head down there now and they are loving it 💞 Debbie and Stijn
Constanza is where you going next? Only town in the whole Caribbean where temperatures could go down to zero degrees. Is that the place where you guys are heading now??????? Constanza is a paradise and it does not look like the rest of DR.
Thanks for another great video. Greetings from Ottawa 🇨🇦. The airport El Catay serves mostly Canadian and European cities....one American...Charlotte AA. Very nice Bahia Resort El Portillo but I recommend you stay in the 'town' and find an Air BnB....lots to be found. Try to stay in the center close to the two large grocery stores. There is a good liqour store just east of the graveyard with good prices....which seem to be regulated. I highly recommend Las Terrenas
I lived in the DR from 97-99 and LT was my Paradise with European influence and little development. We moved back 2015- 2016 and it had exploded. Such a jewel! 25% European population now! This is my heaven on earth. Will eventually be back!
There's a lot of Canadians, French, Italian, Hatians, Dominicans and a few Americans who also live in Las Terrenas. There's a french school, amazing bilingual doctors, great food options from Mexican, Indian, Italian, French and Asian food and grocery stores. Usually only the people who live in that side know of Las Terrenas but it's getting popular now. A lot of European/Canadians are buying investment properties or just buying a property to move. The housing market is brutal there.
I'm not a historian but the first time I visited Las Terrenas was in 1991. Las Terrenas grew faster because of El Portillo. Basically a community of Canadians, French and Spanish started visiting, some who where pilots that had their cabins next to the ocean, next to what now is Bahia Principe El Portillo. The creation of Portillo Airport gave access to those that could travel by air ( Similar on how Punta Cana started with Frank Rainiery ) The roads where practically none existing.. It has grown slowly with time ( Compare to Punta Cana ) but the visitors now are way different than back then. The airport closed because of ..... not good practice and use. Hope you have fun in Jarabacoa.
I have to Google the history of Puerto Plata and Punta Cana. I remember the island was not quite developed during the 70's. It is true that the DR has made major investment in the 90's and 2000's to open all these resorts to attract visitors from Europe and Latin Americas. It is You Tuber like Delightful Travellers (Anna & Trevor), Jumping Places (Chris & Carol), that open up all these fascinating places for us to experience.
Looks like an amazing place. You mentioned that there aren't many Canadians there. In anticipation of your video I stumbled across a YT post last night from a Canadian named Kash who owns a real estate company there in LT and he posted from a Canadian owned bar on the beach at Playa Bonita named "One Love" that apparently is frequented by ex-pats. Maybe you can visit on your next trip!
Exactly - been watching some of his videos. You get an excellent view of the area, as on one vid he takes you on a drive thru the whole town area down to the end and pointed out that ship mall/hotel as well as many other spots. He also just gives great info aside from his realtor business. Tucked back in the Bonita beach area are some very exclusive properties. Anyway I did get hook on watching as it was -20 to -30 C here for the last week with nowhere to go
You have to visit Santiago ! El monumento, centro León, Catedral de Santiago, Pico diego de Ocampo, Mercado modeló, La aurora cigar factory, Camp David, Fortaleza San Luis, palacio consistorial, jardín botánico, Santiago central park, and you have to do a street walking tour you guys will love it. 👋
I had no idea that there was such a delightful injection of European drink and food in the DR. (That Italian market/store looked insane!) Las Terrenas is really an eye opener for me!
Anna and Trevor I am so happy to watch another great episode of Las Terrenas. The food looks really good and I notice at @8.47 when Anna lifted her aperol spritz behind the beach background, there is a rainbow above her orange. Speaking of shopping, you should also consider buying some Larimar stone jewelry. This rare stone in only found in the DR and it is good to give as gift. Don't pay tourist price for jewelry as you can work with them on lowering the prices.
Wow a little patch of Europe in the DR! Did you guys see by chance any English or Irish pubs? I like Presidente beer, but once in a while a cold Guinness hits the spot. Probably would be a great football watching spot as well.
Thank you guys for choosing the Dominican Republic as your winter destination getaway, I started following you last month and I’m loving it 😍 God bless you and keep you safe and healthy Please try to visit el Castillo la Isabela where are located Christopher Columbus museum Or if you have had already been there please let me know
Once again an amazing video. I hope I am guessing correctly. You are next going to JARABACOA. Its a mountain and the weather is quite chilly for Dominicans. For you it won't be, you are used to colder weather. Hope you like it. I can't wait for your videos :)
Been married to a Dominican woman for 24 years so we are always in the DR, the last 4 years we spend the entire month of January in Las Terranes, great town, many restaurants of all price ranges
The cobblestone (or some kind of stone) road along the beach also looks European. I feel that Puerto Plata and Santo Domingo's Zona Colonial are the most attractive places with a strong European influence
Nuestros visitantes, en República Dominicana, no son turistas, simplemente son hermanos que regresaron a casa de vacaciones, por eso les recibimos con los brazos abiertos siempre!!
Rio San Juan / Cabrera is right in the middle of Cabarete / Las terrenas and it's absolutely beautiful as well. I'd be happy to show you around. But the north coast in general is nice. Regarding the guys scooping at night they're fishing for Eel larvas to export to Japan and other places. they grow them there for comercial use.
Guys im loving all your videos... you are going to Jarabacoa.... for sure... I'm in Albany and it's amazing to see my country and all the places I've been before thru your eyes.
@@DelightfulTravellers is at the mountains of LA Vega about 2 or 3 hours from cabarete... the weather in Jarabacoa is like spring here.. from 50 to 55 f.. a lot of rivers and mountains sport there.. its pretty nice.

Ontarians here ! Husband and i drove to Las Terrenas from Cabarete! Not much difference except the beaches are calmer and nicer ! Going into town is a chaos. Other than fruit and some veggies food is more expensive than in Ontario! Actually most things are ! Honestly dont know how the low income Domenican survive here . Beautiful island and beautiful people that is whats keeps us coming back😊
I literally eat ALL of my carbs via watching your videos. I don't know how you two stay so fit - I drool! Keep it coming!!!! My keto plan thanks you!! (PS - What a spot - great video - keep safe - ...from Sydney (but not the one in N.S.) ;)
My father was the first foreigner to build a beach house in Las Terrenas in 1977 near where Punta Popy is. There were many Europeans visiting even then even though there was no electricity. My father was A Dane Bowen Jr. from Texas and he was Economics Officer at the U.S. Embassy at the time. He is mentioned in the Wiki entry for the town. I was 12 years old when we went over the Samana mountain on quite an adventure and rolled into the sleepy fishing village of Las Terrenas. The roads were not paved and electricity did not come to the village until many many years later. Our beach house which was built by my brothers and father, used rain water to flush toilets and shower and we had a small generator to use for a short period at night.
Las terrenas have influence from French’s ( big population & nice restaurants )Italians, Spanish and Germans the europeans start to visit in 90 century’s and like the village because is a mix of everything and the weather is very nice i see you only visit beaches but is more than that amazing waterfall and river beautiful forest and mountains so i hope you come back and btw is much cheaper than cabarete las galeras is also amazing
Absolutely beautiful. Last time I was there at the Terrenas they were building that ship building. I am.for sure going to it Las Terrenas this summer when I go home. Thank you for showing the world the beauty of my beautiful Dominican 🇩🇴 Republic. Hugs from NYC

Another great video! The drinks look delicious! Yesssss I hope you get back to Europe some day soon!!! I love 🇫🇷!! Greetings from back home in Nova Scotia!
Hi, new sub here! Love your videos! I am a Torontonian but worked in the DR and Mexico for 7 years with a big tour operator. I worked in all-inclusives in Pto Pta, Sosua and Cabarete. Don't know if you've tried the lambi yet but if you like conch and are offered lambi at the beach or the malecon, give it a try! It's stewed conch and seasoned sooo good! I miss the food and beach so much. Good for you for living your best lives!
The good thing about las Terrenas is all the restaurants' hotels are mom-and-pop businesses and in 1825 that is where ex-slaves arrived from Philadelphia, they still speak English with a southern accent. not all but you still find them
Really cool video guys, I never been to LT myself but many of my relative spend winter there and just love it and highly recommend visiting, it is for sure my next destination ! Thanks for the video

All your videos help us a lot to find the best place for our next hollidays in October. Thank you so much, it's a real pleasure to discover your video and your kindness. If you have the possibility to create a map ou maybe show on your video where you find exactly a good hotel, a beautiful place and a great restaurant, it will be very wonderful. Long life to your channel Best regards from France Pascal and Olivia (and the little Samuel ;-)

Thanks for the video RD is a beautiful island. Ca you tell us how much was tht toll to get to La terrenas. You should try las empanadas de yuca.
400 pesos 👍
Once again an amazing video. I hope I am guessing correctly. You are next going to JARABACOA. Its a mountain and the weather is quite chilly for Dominicans. For you it won't be, you are used to colder weather. Hope you like it. I can't wait for your videos :)
Loving yours videos guys!! I'm glad that you're enjoying my beatiful country!!
Been married to a Dominican woman for 24 years so we are always in the DR, the last 4 years we spend the entire month of January in Las Terranes, great town, many restaurants of all price ranges
Wow and she never cheated? Dominican woman aren’t faithful
vengan a Bayahibe!! un pequeño pueblo pesquero con unas playas hermosas, sin olvidar Saona! Saludos y excelente trabajo
The cobblestone (or some kind of stone) road along the beach also looks European. I feel that Puerto Plata and Santo Domingo's Zona Colonial are the most attractive places with a strong European influence
This is a terrific video and captures LT very well in under 15 mins. Thank you!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nuestros visitantes, en República Dominicana, no son turistas, simplemente son hermanos que regresaron a casa de vacaciones, por eso les recibimos con los brazos abiertos siempre!!
🤗
Rio San Juan / Cabrera is right in the middle of Cabarete / Las terrenas and it's absolutely beautiful as well. I'd be happy to show you around. But the north coast in general is nice.
Regarding the guys scooping at night they're fishing for Eel larvas to export to Japan and other places. they grow them there for comercial use.
Marking this on my list of must visit! I want to be there now!
Thanks for visiting my wonderful Country.
Thanks for sharing and have a great day or 🌃.
House of the Campus and altos de chavon, they are very beautiful.
Guys im loving all your videos... you are going to Jarabacoa.... for sure... I'm in Albany and it's amazing to see my country and all the places I've been before thru your eyes.
Where’s that? 😉 shhh 🤫- Anna
@@DelightfulTravellers is at the mountains of LA Vega about 2 or 3 hours from cabarete... the weather in Jarabacoa is like spring here.. from 50 to 55 f.. a lot of rivers and mountains sport there.. its pretty nice.
You guys did such a good job on this video. I want to visit Las Terranas now!
🤗

Ontarians here ! Husband and i drove to Las Terrenas from Cabarete! Not much difference except the beaches are calmer and nicer ! Going into town is a chaos. Other than fruit and some veggies food is more expensive than in Ontario! Actually most things are ! Honestly dont know how the low income Domenican survive here . Beautiful island and beautiful people that is whats keeps us coming back😊
You will probably go to Casa De Campo; or perphas, to Miches, Costa Esmeralda beach!
I literally eat ALL of my carbs via watching your videos. I don't know how you two stay so fit - I drool! Keep it coming!!!! My keto plan thanks you!! (PS - What a spot - great video - keep safe - ...from Sydney (but not the one in N.S.) ;)
haha smart move. Trust me we don't really stay fit. It's so easy to gain weight and travel. We try to pick our moments to indulge 😅- Trevor
Muchas gracias mi amigo por estar en mi pais República Dominicana bendiciones para los dos
Thank you so much for to show the best to my my country love u guys
So interesting! Beautiful coastline there. Interesting about the European influence.
Wow, excelent comment
When was that? Just curious - Anna

Another great video! The drinks look delicious! Yesssss I hope you get back to Europe some day soon!!! I love 🇫🇷!! Greetings from back home in Nova Scotia!
Hi Janice.. we hope things are going great back home in NS 🤗- Anna
Go to Jarabacoa, Constanza, San Jose De Ocoa visit valle nuevo (camping with reservation)
We've not had that but we'll keep a look out for it 😋- Trevor
Constanza pico Duarte?
Sean siempre bienvenidos ♥️🇩🇴
The good thing about las Terrenas is all the restaurants' hotels are mom-and-pop businesses and in 1825 that is where ex-slaves arrived from Philadelphia, they still speak English with a southern accent. not all but you still find them
So true! We luv LT so much - Anna
🇨🇦
Jarabacoa next by chance? Enjoying the videos from snowy and freezing Ontario.
We hope things warm up in Ontario Dee 🥶- Anna
Really cool video guys, I never been to LT myself but many of my relative spend winter there and just love it and highly recommend visiting, it is for sure my next destination ! Thanks for the video
First, sorry for my bad english....
I'm french and I visit last year Punta Cana with my wife ans our 6 yeras old son.
We really love RD ans this year, we have decide to visit Las terrenas and for that, yours videos are a big, big help for us because you give us many ideas, beautiful place.
Long life to your channel
Best regards from France
Pascal and Olivia (and the little Samuel ;-)
We so appreciate the kind words and we're glad you're finding the videos helpful. We definitely do not have time to create a map like that though. The videos take A LOT of work to produce 😀We just use AirBnB and Google maps to find places for the most part - Trevor
Samana is well known for the American and England root. A lot of the old native had English', last names and are fluent in English.
are you guys going to Jarabacoa or Dominican Tree House Village? thanks for visiting my country!!
🤔 😀
You two are both so awesome! Thank you for another wonderful video!
🥰
